In the middle of the night, I was awakened by the urge to urinate and instinctively reached out to hug Shaw Manny.
However, after feeling around for a while, I realized that Shaw Manny was not there.
I turned on the night light and saw that the other side of the bed was empty.
I couldn't find Shaw Manny.
A sense of panic rose in my heart; it was so late, and I was filled with suspicion...
After using the bathroom, suddenly, I heard a noise from the stairwell.
I walked to the door of the stairwell and saw the door slowly closing, with Shaw Manny walking out from inside.
She was still wearing a tight dress and high-heeled stockings, which made her look even more suspicious.
"What time did you go out in the middle of the night?" I said coldly.
"I..." Shaw Manny hesitated.
"Speak!" I demanded.
"I went sleepwalking," Shaw Manny said softly.
"Sleepwalking?" I frowned. "What does sleepwalking mean?"
Shaw Manny chuckled awkwardly, "I don't know; I just sleepwalked. I fell asleep and then unknowingly walked out."
"Why are you back now?" I asked.
"Because you woke me up," Shaw Manny said. "If you hadn't woken me, I wouldn't have been able to wake up."
As she spoke, Shaw Manny grabbed my arm. "Lu Hu, please take me back to sleep. I'm so tired."
I looked at Shaw Manny with some suspicion; she didn't seem to be lying. But I had never heard of this habit of hers before!
I had heard of sleepwalking, where some people unconsciously walk around and do strange things while asleep.
"Alright," I sighed, pulling Shaw Manny back to bed.
As soon as Shaw Manny lay down, she fell asleep, but I couldn't sleep at all.
I lay in bed, thinking about what Shaw Manny had just said.
She said she came back because I woke her up, which meant she had been in the stairwell before and might have walked in there unconsciously.
But what was in the stairwell?
Could it be that Shaw Manny was having an affair in the stairwell? I couldn't bear to think—
At that moment, a surge of anger rose within me. Could it be that Shaw Manny really betrayed me?
I glanced at the time; it was only 3 AM. If Shaw Manny was indeed having an affair in the stairwell, then that man should still be there.
I decided to go out and take a look.
I quietly got out of bed and made my way to the stairwell door, but to my disappointment, there was nothing in the stairwell.
I sighed; perhaps I was overthinking things.
Still, I couldn't shake off my unease. I decided to investigate further another day; I had to get to the bottom of this.
I had returned a day early from my business trip without telling her about my flight.
That night, I hid in a taxi at the entrance of the community, where I could clearly see the hallway.
As long as that man showed up, I would definitely catch him.
I waited until two in the morning, but the man never appeared.
It seemed he wasn't coming today.
I sighed again and decided to wait until tomorrow.
Another night, I had dinner with Manny, saw her home, and then turned away pretending to head back to my dorm. Instead, I hid in the woods of the community.
This time, I didn't wait in vain. At nine-thirty, I saw a man walk into the hallway.
This man was not Mediterranean Hairstyle; he was dressed in a suit and wearing a top hat.
Could it be that Shaw Manny had an affair with this man?
But what connection did this man have with the landlord?
I decided to take a look at the past.
I followed the man into the hallway, and the elevator he was in stopped on the 15th floor, which is where Manny's apartment is located.
I quietly approached the door and peered through the screen door. I saw Shaw Manny and that man sitting on the sofa, looking quite intimate with each other.
I was instantly furious; Shaw Manny was really having an affair with this man.
Just as I was about to rush in, I suddenly heard the man say, "You look beautiful in that outfit, those long legs of yours."
Shaw Manny smiled shyly and replied, "Thank you, brother Jiang."
I was taken aback; this man wasn't the landlord, but Shaw Manny called him " brother Jiang." I decided to hold off on entering and observe a bit longer.
" brother Jiang, are you leaving tonight?" Shaw Manny asked.
The man chuckled, "What? You want me to stay?"
"Of course," Shaw Manny pouted playfully. "It's so boring by myself."
The man laughed heartily, "You little enchantress."
I was seething with anger; Shaw Manny actually wanted this man to stay. What were they planning to do?
Then, with a loud bang, the door slammed shut.
I could hear sounds coming from inside the apartment; clearly, Shaw Manny and that man were engaged in some inappropriate activities.
I was so angry that my whole body trembled, wishing I could rush in and kill that pair of scoundrels immediately.
But I held back. I knew that rushing in now would be futile and might even alert them. I wanted to take revenge on them and make them pay.
Grinding my teeth, I quietly left and sat by the flower bed downstairs, determined to make that pair pay! But after thinking for a long time, I couldn't come up with any good ideas.
After all, the social status difference between me and Jiang Shiying was too great. I was just an ordinary worker, while Jiang Shiying was a landlord in Big City with four properties. I simply couldn't compete with him.
I sighed; perhaps this was fate.
That night, I sat at Waijiang Bund all night, pondering but still couldn't think of a good plan.
In the morning, I saw the man in the top hat—it was Jiang Shiying.
Then, Shaw Manny messaged me, saying she would be going to the Maldives for a week for team building and asked me to help take care of her flowers and hamster.
In the following days, I continued to monitor and discovered that Jiang Shiying came three times in a row.
Each time he arrived about an hour after I left Shaw Manny's place, staying inside with her for 1-2 hours.
On the last occasion, I waited until twelve-thirty, but what surprised me was that Jiang Shiying didn't leave.
What could be the reason?
I thought for a long time but couldn't figure it out.
I decided to take a closer look at Shaw Manny's phone; perhaps I could find some clues.
The next day, while Shaw Manny was taking a shower, I opened her phone and found her rental app where she communicated with the landlord.
I looked through their previous chat history, and to my shock, Shaw Manny had not paid rent to the landlord at all.
Their previous conversations seemed completely normal, just like those between ordinary friends.
"Moving today was tough, make sure to rest well."
"Got it, brother Jiang."
"I'll treat you to dinner tomorrow night."
"Sure, thanks brother Jiang."
...
Their dialogue was very normal, with no signs of anything inappropriate.
Could it be that I misunderstood them?
I turned off the phone, feeling a bit confused and ashamed. How could I doubt Shaw Manny?
Shaw Manny is my girlfriend; I should trust her.
But for some reason, I still felt a sense of unease.
