Li Rui quickly returned to his room from the huge Dan Furnace, still feeling a bit shocked and confused.
So those Ammunition were made using this big Dan Furnace? Li Rui furrowed his brows again. It couldn't be that simply throwing things in would produce Ammunition; there must be something essential in between. What could it be?
After thinking for a long time without coming up with an answer, Li Rui simply lay down on the bed, deciding not to think about anything. He just wanted to get a good sleep. After all, he had already infiltrated the team making Ammunition, so there was no need to rush.
When Li Rui opened his eyes in a daze, he saw Zhu Yunzhi sitting by his bed staring at him. The sudden sight startled him awake.
Li Rui looked at Zhu Yunzhi with some dissatisfaction, but Zhu Yunzhi pretended not to see and turned away, speaking to herself. "Do you have any plans today?"
"Of course, I will do what I need to do," Li Rui replied while putting on his clothes, noticing that Zhu Yunzhi ignored his displeasure.
"Well, take care of yourself. I have some matters to attend to, so I won't be following you," Zhu Yunzhi said as she stood up from Li Rui's bedside and adjusted her slightly wrinkled clothes, giving him a reminder.
Li Rui was more than happy that Zhu Yunzhi wouldn't be following him and hurriedly put on his clothes. "You go ahead and do your thing; I will be fine."
"Okay." Zhu Yunzhi responded and left through the door.
Li Rui frowned as he watched Zhu Yunzhi's departing figure. He needed to have enough strength; otherwise, he would always be treated as a pawn. That feeling was quite uncomfortable. If only he had Zhu Yunzhi's strength...
Li Rui shook his head and let out a bitter smile. For now, he should focus on handling his current tasks instead of thinking too far ahead.
After getting dressed and washing up, Li Rui joined others for breakfast before gathering with the team making Ammunition.
The Captain counted the number of people and once everyone arrived, led Li Rui and the others to move materials first.
Li Rui was carrying a large wooden box with a label on it; he glanced at it and saw the word "Thirteen" written on the label.
Thirteen? Li Rui thought about secretly opening the box to see what was inside, but at that moment, the Captain had already started leading them outside. He had no choice but to abandon that thought and helplessly carried the somewhat heavy box along. He wouldn’t be foolish enough to let everyone notice something unusual just for one box of materials; after all, his identity as a researcher allowed him multiple entries into the warehouse. If discovered, it would all be in vain.
The Captain led them to the place where Li Rui had seen the big Dan Furnace yesterday. The Captain placed the materials on the ground and then quickly walked over to a wooden door, respectfully knocking three times. After a few seconds, he knocked three more times for a total of Three Times before stepping back. Holding onto his box of materials, he turned back to everyone: "According to the rules, we will place the items into the Dan Furnace one by one in order."
After finishing his instructions, the Captain climbed up with his share of materials and placed it into the Dan Furnace. Li Rui recalled what he had just seen labeled as Thirteen; could it be this?
As it turned out, Li Rui's guess was completely correct; everyone placed their boxes into the Dan Furnace according to the numbers on them. When it was Li Rui's turn, he took the opportunity to look inside the Dan Furnace; it was dark inside, and he couldn’t see anything clearly.
It seems that to understand this Dan Furnace, one must find a way to get into the house where Captain just knocked. Li Rui pondered, thinking it would be better to wait until everyone had left before trying to sneak in.
The opportunity soon presented itself. After they placed everything inside, a Li Rui saw the completely non-threatening Old Man coming out of the house where Captain had knocked.
The Old Man glanced at Captain, his expression somewhat kind: "Back again, huh?"
However, Captain responded nervously as if facing a great threat: "Yes, everything has been put inside. Now it’s time for you to take care of things, Senior."
The Old Man laughed heartily: "Are you so scared of me, Old Man? Alright, if you're afraid, you can leave first."
Li Rui found it strange; clearly, this Old Man seemed harmless, so why was Captain still so tense? From his angle, he could even see the cold sweat dripping down Captain's face.
Though puzzled, Li Rui maintained a calm demeanor and continued to quietly observe the Old Man. He was also calculating in his mind. He decided that after everyone left, he would sneak back in for another look.
After receiving the Old Man's words, Captain wiped the cold sweat from his face and led everyone away.
Li Rui intentionally walked last and then turned to hide behind a pillar just as he was about to exit.
"You’re not afraid of me, Old Man?" To his surprise, just as Li Rui hid himself, the Old Man looked surprised and asked about his hiding place.
Now, cold sweat broke out on Li Rui's back; how could this Old Man be non-threatening? Clearly, this Old Man was even more formidable than Zhu Yunzhi. No wonder Captain had been so nervous earlier.
Since he had been discovered, Li Rui decided not to hide any longer and stepped out confidently. "Why should I be afraid of you, Senior?"
This left the Old Man momentarily speechless; after a few seconds of surprise, he burst into laughter: "You’re quite interesting for a young one. What do you want to know?"
Li Rui hadn’t expected the Old Man to be so straightforward and felt a bit awkward but still replied directly, "I just want to know how this Dan Furnace produces Ammunition."
"Oh, is that it? It’s because there’s a Fifth-Rank Alchemy Formula, and only I possess this formula," the Old Man said with a smile. Suddenly, without warning, he threw a punch. "You can die now!"
Caught off guard by the unexpected attack from the half-finished sentence of the Old Man, Li Rui was hit and sent crashing into a pillar, spitting out blood.
"Hey, why did I strike again?" The Old Man, seemingly dazed, stood there staring at his own hands.
Li Rui watched for half a moment before realizing that this Old Man was actually a schizophrenic! After understanding this, Li Rui felt like he could spit out a mouthful of old blood.
Clearly, the current Old Man was being controlled by some kind of brutality, slowly approaching Li Rui step by step.
What to do? Li Rui was also a bit flustered. As his hand brushed against his pants pocket, he touched something hard. Taking it out, he saw it was a pendant he had casually bought on the street. Now the Old Man had already walked up to Li Rui and was preparing to throw another punch. Gritting his teeth, Li Rui waved the pendant in front of the Old Man with its thin iron chain. "Look at this, what is it?"
The Old Man's curiosity was piqued by Li Rui, and he leaned in closer to see: "What is this?"
"Just look at this pendant, look closely, don't blink..." Blood dripped from the corner of Li Rui's mouth as he forced himself to hypnotize the Old Man.
The Old Man's consciousness was already somewhat hazy, and Li Rui didn't expect that this Old Man would be so easy to deceive.
Half an hour later.
Li Rui looked at the "Fifth-Rank Alchemy Formula" he had made and couldn't believe it. He had actually exchanged a bag of candy for the "Fifth-Rank Alchemy Formula"? Turning around to see the Old Man happily asleep with the candy in his arms, Li Rui felt fortunate as he carefully put away the "Fifth-Rank Alchemy Formula" and cautiously left the place.
