Li Rui sat by the window, enjoying the beautiful scenery outside. The pleasant view and the gentle breeze made Li Rui's heart flutter.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted. "Excuse me, is my seat still available?"
"I'm sorry, it's already taken by that guest," Er casually pointed at Li Rui.
Li Rui looked up and saw the person, who had kind features and a friendly demeanor.
Seeing that Li Rui occupied the seat, the person turned to leave, but Li Rui stood up immediately. "If you don't mind, why not join me?"
The person's eyes lit up, and then they sat down across from Li Rui.
"I wonder..." The person was about to ask for a name when Li Rui spoke first. "No need to thank me, I'm Li Rui. And you?"
"I'm Zhu Yunzhi," the person replied simply.
Li Rui smiled. "So, you also enjoy drinking here?"
Zhu Yunzhi grinned. "Yes, not only can you enjoy fine wine here, but you can also take in the beautiful scenery." Zhu Yunzhi's thin lips curved into a smile. Normally, if someone took their spot, they would leave quietly, but Li Rui was clearly different.
"I feel the same way—enjoying the view, watching the crowd, and sipping fine wine. It's quite delightful." Li Rui then poured a glass of wine for Zhu Yunzhi.
"Cheers!" Li Rui said cheerfully, and Zhu Yunzhi drank it down in one go. The two quickly became familiar with each other as if they were old friends. They soon realized they had endless topics to discuss. Zhu Yunzhi found Li Rui very likable; his mannerisms were quite admirable. After just a simple meal and drinks together, both were pleasantly tipsy.
"I can't drink anymore. I have an injury and I'm afraid I'll end up bedridden if I do," Zhu Yunzhi said, clearly feeling the effects of the alcohol.
"What? Brother Zhu, how did you get hurt?" Li Rui asked, his eyes slightly glazed, clearly a bit drunk.
Zhu Yunzhi sighed deeply upon hearing this. "Well, it's because of that Wang Hui. He sent a few people to beat me up."
Li Rui's anger flared up immediately upon hearing this, and in his drunken state, he slapped his chest forcefully. "Has Wang Hui gotten so bold? Does he dare to hit anyone?"
Then, Li Rui grabbed Zhu Yunzhi's hand and said directly, "Let's go. I'll get back at him for you!"
Zhu Yunzhi was taken aback, unsure of Li Rui's strength, and quickly shook off his hand. "Even if we team up, we probably can't take him on."
Li Rui smiled confidently. "Just come with me."
The two then left the tavern and headed straight to find Wang Hui.
Li Rui began shouting at the door, "Wang Hui, if you have the guts, come out!"
The people outside were stunned; these two drunkards must be crazy. They went inside to report.
Wang Hui stormed out in a fit of rage, holding a knife in his hand!
"You are Wang Hui," Li Rui said as he stepped forward upon seeing him. Zhu Yunzhi stood behind him.
Wang Hui looked coldly at the disdainful Li Rui and replied, "So what if I am?"
Li Rui smiled, "You really dare to provoke anyone." Wang Hui looked at Zhu Yunzhi behind Li Rui and understood what was happening. He then said fiercely, "Kid, this is not a place for you to act wild!"
"Haha, you really don't know your limits," Li Rui said as he spat out a mouthful of alcohol, then charged at Wang Hui with some anger.
"Li brother, be careful!" Zhu Yunzhi secretly worried from behind.
"Li Rui, I know how strong you are, but I won't be afraid of you!" Wang Hui replied calmly, the breeze lifting his green robe. Li Rui slightly cupped his hands in response and was naturally not afraid of him.
Then, the battle began. Wang Hui held a sword in his hand while Li Rui had nothing. However, Li Rui felt no fear; instead, he saw this as a challenge.
Suddenly, Li Rui saw a fast sword coming towards him. His eyes sparkled as he stood up and dodged the thrust with lightning speed. Wang Hui was relentless and struck again. Li Rui had to evade while slowly looking for an opportunity, but he was forced into a corner. Knowing this was disadvantageous for him, he tried to break free, but Wang Hui seemed unwilling to give him any chance. With another step forward, Wang Hui lunged again; this time the blade grazed past Li Rui's fingertips, which was truly alarming. Zhu Yunzhi worried that Li Rui might be defeated by Wang Hui this time, but suddenly, Wang Hui let out a scream.
Zhu Yunzhi looked up and saw Li Rui catching Wang Hui's sword with both hands before kicking him far away. Li Rui stood up once more.
Li Rui knew how powerful that strike from Wang Hui had been; he too was expending energy in the fight. Now that Wang Hui lay on the ground without serious injury, Li Rui remained cautious. He paced slowly, searching for an opportunity while Wang Hui, feeling defiant, swung his sword at Li Rui again. A smirk appeared on Li Rui's face because he noticed that Wang Hui's lower defenses were wide open. He then extended his palm and unleashed a golden light—a powerful force—catching the sword once more and delivering a swift kick that brought Wang Hui to his knees. Due to the angle of view, Zhu Yunzhi only saw Li Rui trip Wang Hui; little did she know that Li Rui had inflicted severe pain on him.
It is known that men cannot be struck there; now Wang Hui covered his groin and couldn't utter a word while Li Rui stuck out his tongue and said, "Sorry about that."
Wang Hui wanted to stand up again for another fight but was in too much pain, feeling as if he were about to die.
"That's what you get for being arrogant!" Li Rui kicked Wang Hui hard in the face.
Seeing this, the crowd hurriedly lifted Wang Hui away.
Zhu Yunzhi was very excited, "Brother Li, you are truly amazing."
Li Rui waved his hand, "It's nothing special." He knew that Zhu Yunzhi wanted to thank him, but this was a minor matter for Li Rui and hardly worth mentioning. Then he recalled Wang Hui's arrogant demeanor, and Li Rui felt quite pleased at the moment.
The two continued to chat and drink. Zhu Yunzhi naturally wanted to express his gratitude to Li Rui and looked at him with newfound respect. Li Rui thought this was all very ordinary and not a big deal.
As it got late, the two bid farewell and parted ways.
After drinking two rounds, Li Rui was quite drunk, but his mind was still clear. When he staggered back home and lay down on the bed, he felt something was off in his body.
He couldn't pinpoint what exactly felt wrong, but there was an unsettling sensation.
Soon after, Li Rui began to break out in a cold sweat.
Once the effects of the alcohol wore off, he realized that he had been poisoned!
