After returning, Li Rui took a long and refreshing bath, feeling much better after the discomfort of the day.
It was already evening when Hu San invited Li Rui to a banquet. At the table, Hu San and Li Rui drank quite a bit of wine, all of which was fine aged liquor, and the food was exquisite. Li Rui enjoyed the meal greatly, as Hu San wanted to express his gratitude for Li Rui's life-saving help.
"Li Rui, you’re quite something! When we have time, let’s drink properly," Hu San said with a drunken smile, watching Li Rui stagger slightly as he walked. Clearly, he had drunk a lot and needed assistance to leave.
As night fell, the bright moon shone down. Although Li Rui had also drunk quite a bit, he was still in good shape compared to Hu San. While walking along the road, he suddenly heard faint footsteps and immediately became alert.
"Who’s there?" Li Rui turned sharply and shouted, his eyes sharp. He thought another assassin had sneaked in, but to his surprise, a woman stepped out of the darkness. Her flowing dress looked enchanting in the night, and Li Rui's eyes lit up; it was the woman he had encountered before.
"What are you doing here?" It seemed that Li Rui's loud voice startled her. He spoke gently this time.
The woman looked at Li Rui, her face flushed with embarrassment, her hands fidgeting nervously.
"Thank you for what happened that day," she said. Li Rui was taken aback by how sweet her voice sounded, filled with feminine softness that made her seem endearing.
At that moment, having had some drinks, Li Rui's mind began to wander as he imagined her lying on a warm pink bed, breathing softly in a gentle tone...
He quickly shook off those thoughts and cleared his throat. "Ah, it’s nothing really; just a small favor." However, in his muddled state, he accidentally made his gesture a bit too forceful. The woman recalled how his hand had roamed over her fair leg when she was in danger; it truly was just a small favor...
Thinking about this made her cheeks flush even more with shame. Not knowing what to say next left both of them feeling awkward. Li Rui sensed he might have said something wrong and sighed deeply. "Um, I didn’t mean anything else; please don’t misunderstand."
Li Rui scratched his head awkwardly while smiling.
"What’s your name?" The woman clearly wanted to change the subject.
"Li Rui," he replied casually, as if introducing himself again; he wondered why he hadn’t remembered this from their previous meeting.
"My name is Huifen," she said shyly before lowering her head. At that moment, Li Rui didn’t know what to do either; the atmosphere became increasingly awkward...
"Well then, I’ll be going," Huifen said, breaking the silence as she turned to leave. Li Rui watched her charming figure and flowing hair with an inexplicable urge for something wild and primal but managed to suppress it.
However, just as Hui Fen disappeared from Li Rui's sight, she turned her fairy-like body and opened her red lips, revealing her pearly teeth. "Well, you’re quite good at touching," she said, and then Hui Fen vanished...
Only Li Rui remained in place, dazed. What did Hui Fen just say? Li Rui's heart ignited with passion as he watched her leave, but soon he calmed down; he wasn't here to flirt but had a mission to complete.
He immediately summoned the Qilin Beast with his mind, wondering where all the herbs he bought earlier had gone. If he investigated himself, it might expose his identity and cause inconvenience, so he decided to let the Qilin Beast handle the issue.
At that moment, the Qilin Beast communicated that it was injured. Li Rui was stunned and quickly asked what had happened.
The Qilin Beast had unintentionally attracted attention and was currently fighting a group of Patrol Team members. It seemed to be struggling and had sustained injuries! Li Rui rushed over to provide support but realized that his identity might be exposed. After the battle with the assassin, he had already gained some notoriety. He quickly found a piece of black cloth to cover his face and vanished like lightning.
Outside, the Qilin Beast let out an angry roar as blood flowed from its body...
Unfortunately, those people wielded sharp weapons, and the Qilin Beast's armor couldn't withstand their attacks. After several exchanges, the Qilin Beast was already exhausted.
"Brothers, catch this treasure!" a rough voice shouted. The Patrol Team was formidable; even a slight movement from the Qilin Beast during its attempts to evade drew their attention. Now it couldn't escape or fight back. The situation became increasingly dire.
"Boss, this Qilin is truly beautiful; we must catch it."
"Sure, but I’m more interested in tasting some Qilin Beast meat, haha..."
Under the moonlight and starry sky, a shadow swooped in, breaking up the conflict. Unfortunately, Li Rui overheard all of this!
Li Rui was furious; the Qilin Beast belonged to him—who dared to harm it would face his wrath! Immediately, the Patrol Team ceased their attack on the Qilin Beast and turned to confront this sudden masked figure!
"Who are you?" roared one of the bosses, trying to bolster everyone's courage. After all, it was early morning, and they had no idea who their opponent was or how powerful he might be.
At that moment, someone had already gone to inform others. Li Rui knew that soon more people would arrive; he needed to resolve this quickly!
The Qilin Beast recognized the Masked Individual as Li Rui due to their strong connection.
"Hey, who the hell are you?"
In the midst of the words, Li Rui had already rushed forward, grabbing the person's neck and crushing it with one hand...
Blood immediately gushed out. Li Rui knew he couldn't make a sound; the only way was to end this quickly. He then leaped into the air, facing the sharp blades surrounding him. Li Rui showed no signs of panic; instead, he remained calm, though he was indeed furious inside.
Yes, he would turn his anger into strength. The blood of the Qilin Beast would not be shed in vain. With a kick to the chest of one of his attackers, Li Rui once again perfectly dodged the blades. A sharp sound echoed through the air as Li Rui landed perfectly, his face covered. The crowd fell to the ground, spitting blood, but they were relentless, struggling to get back up and attack Li Rui once more. Many could no longer rise; those who could stand were certainly in good shape. With a roar, Li Rui turned and snatched a weapon. In a flash, a group of people fell to the ground, still unable to comprehend what had just happened. The battle was over far too quickly...
Li Rui slowly got up, the cool breeze lifting the corners of his clothing, exuding an aura reminiscent of a martial hero. He hurried over to the Qilin Beast's side.
"Are you okay?" Li Rui asked gently. The Qilin Beast forced a smile, "I'm fine."
Li Rui looked at the bright red wound on the Qilin Beast, feeling as if his own heart was being cut. He vowed to protect those he cared about and never let them suffer even a bit of harm again.
"We can't stay here long; let's go!" Li Rui said, and the two disappeared into the darkness...
