Aibo was still puzzled about why Xu Yicheng had summoned him in front of so many humans. He half-knelt down, snorting white breaths, and surveyed the others.
"Uh..." Lu Sha glanced at Xu Yicheng, "Doctor, does he understand Chinese?"
Xu Yicheng nodded.
"Then I won't say anything," Lu Sha chuckled, "his expression seems to suggest..."
"You don't taste good," Aibo turned his face to look at Lu Sha.
"Huh?!" Lu Sha's blood-red hair almost stood on end. Lu Sha clapped his hands together in surprise and stared at Aibo: "How did he know what I was going to say?"
"He's very smart, you know?" Xu Yicheng smiled, stepping forward to gently stroke Aibo's cold thigh. He said, "Big Guy, we brought you here to discuss something. It won't take long. Once we're done, you can go back to eating your grilled fish, okay?"
"Hmm... I'm tired of eating that," Aibo recognized everyone and realized they were all Xu Yicheng's comrades. He surprisingly felt comfortable and slowly curled his body, sitting down on the concrete floor of the basement while looking at Xu Yicheng with questioning eyes.
"Ha." Xu Yicheng understood him and sat down as well but couldn't help shivering—it was freezing in winter, even through his thermal pants.
Xu Yicheng mimicked Aibo's cross-legged position and waited for Aibo to focus on him. He clasped his hands together and placed them on his crossed ankles.
"Alright, just like this." Xu Yicheng made an "OK" gesture.
Unexpectedly, Aibo also made an "OK" sign and then clasped his hands together in the same way as Xu Yicheng.
"Oh my god." Everyone couldn't help but exclaim—these two seemed to have a telepathic connection; no matter how Aibo expressed himself, Xu Yicheng could understand him. Moreover, Aibo looked clumsy but was actually very Tsongtsong: he knew holding grilled fish skewers was inappropriate; he realized he had been too fierce earlier and sat down to show friendliness; he understood it was time to discuss matters and quickly let Xu Yicheng teach him how to sit like a good child.
I must say, Aibo was quite adorable.
However, the next move was anything but cute.
Aibo patted the ground and looked around at everyone.
This probably didn't need translation from Xu Yicheng—no one would want to sit on the ground in the middle of winter.
"Uh, let's skip that, haha..." An Xiaotian awkwardly laughed.
"It's fine." Liu Xuan waved his hand, flipping his air bangs back as he tried to roll up his sleeves.
Under everyone's curious gaze, Liu Xuan struggled but found he couldn't roll up his sleeves—his clothes were too thick, and the watch was stuck on his sweater inside.
"Uh..." Liu Xuan's scalp felt like it was about to smoke from embarrassment as he looked at everyone's deadpan expressions. He weakly said, "Just a moment..."
Aibo tilted his head again, hands neatly crossed together.
"I can't take it anymore." Liu Xuan directly took off his down jacket and threw it hard onto the ground. Nearby, Qin Weishan chuckled and slowly bent down to pick it up for him.
"Hey, Weishan... thank you," Liu Xuan regretted it immediately—he knew Qin Weishan's injury hadn't healed yet.
"Is it your watch?" An Xiaotian asked.
"Um."
Liu Xuan opened the watch face and voice inputted, "Floating Carpet, copy seven times."
Then, Liu Xuan signaled everyone to form an arc, and they instinctively let General Jiang stand in the middle. Liu Xuan stepped in front of everyone, starting from the far left where Jiao An was, sweeping his hand to the right. Everyone soon noticed that a light blue square carpet appeared behind each person, floating under their thighs.
"Let's sit down and give it a try; don't worry, you won't fall." Seeing everyone taking their seats, Liu Xuan ran back to his spot.
"Let's not waste time," General Jiang said in his usual style. "May I ask our Big Guy, are you willing to help us once more?"
"Sure," Aibo replied without hesitation.
This took General Jiang by surprise; he thought this guy might want to sleep in his own nest or something.
"Um..." Aibo snorted, looking at Xu Yicheng, gesturing. Perhaps what he wanted to say was too long for him to express.
Xu Yicheng watched Aibo's gestures seriously and said to everyone, "What Aibo means is that he knows the general is looking for him for something, and he knows we would seek him out; he has been waiting for my call for a long time."
"Wow." Lu Sha stared at Aibo like a child who had never seen the world before; neither blinked. Aibo tilted his head to the right, and Lu Sha followed by tilting her head to the left. A puzzled "gurgling" sound came from Aibo's neck, and Lu Sha, realizing she couldn't make that sound, froze for a moment before bursting into laughter while slapping her thigh.
"Alright, stop teasing Titan." Jiao An quickly wrapped her arms around Lu Sha, covering her mouth with her hands. However, Lu Sha continued to squirm and whispered in Jiao An's ear, "But he's really so much fun, hahaha..."
"What do you mean?" General Jiang asked Xu Yicheng.
"A walking corpse," Aibo spoke up.
"Ah!" An Xiaotian's pupils suddenly constricted as he asked Aibo, "Have you seen one already?"
Aibo didn't say anything but suddenly his eyes emitted light like a projector, casting onto everyone behind them. They all turned around simultaneously as two beams of light from Aibo crashed against the rocks like waves, spreading out and enveloping everyone—this was Aibo's illusion technique.
"It's so beautiful..." Qin Weishan looked up at the blue sky moving in the illusion and glanced further back to find everyone sitting in front of a forest filled with light, beside a wide river.
In the illusion, they saw that Aibo, as usual, went to the riverbank he often visited to catch some wild crucian carp to eat. Catching fish had become so easy for him after doing it for so long; he speared one on the left and two on the right. The last unfortunate fish floated in the water contemplating its life when it was swiftly speared by Aibo.
With a full spear of fish, satisfied, just as Aibo turned around, unusual footsteps echoed from the forest behind him. He also saw dust rising in the distance, seemingly approaching aggressively.
Aibo narrowed his eyes but chose to retreat first. However, he wanted to know what it was. In the illusion, with raw fish skewers in his mouth and an iron anchor in hand, he skillfully jumped on the rocky wall. Just as he reached the plain above, zombies began emerging one after another from the bushes over there; one zombie flew in mid-air and pointed at the river while those zombies obediently jumped in.
"Wash yourselves clean; you're filthy!" The zombie in mid-air had quite a loud voice; even lying on top was able to hear its echo along with the horrifying roars of those Soulless Zombies below.
After about an hour, that zombie floated there watching planes fly overhead one after another. Aibo dared not move; he lay there as if pondering something.
"Aibo, wait." Suddenly, Liu Xuan's eyes turned moonlight-colored. Nars said, "Pause; let me see if I can extract data from this zombie in the illusion."
Aibo's eyes flickered once before the entire scene froze. Nars set up a holographic workstation and began pressing numerous buttons that dazzled everyone’s eyes. After a while, a loading bar appeared on the screen before them and slowly reached the far right under everyone's gaze.
"The data is starting to read," Nars explained while signaling for Aibo to continue.
The scene came alive again as it showed Aibo observing quietly from above until all the zombies left the river.
"Poor river water..." Xu Yicheng said.
In the illusion, Aibo deliberately took a different path, winding around several bends before arriving. Aibo peeked out from the bushes and then emerged, staring blankly at the murky yellow river before him.
"No wonder..." An Xiaotian recalled the case they had investigated, where there was a stream stained yellow at the scene; it must have been for this reason.
Jiao An's eyes involuntarily twitched as she crossed her legs and said, "It's so dirty, it hurts my eyes."
Dealing with something like this was simply unbearable.
"Guys!" Qin Weishan said while looking at his phone, "Check the news, it seems there's been another incident."
"You still look at your phone?" Jiao An questioned him.
"Uh... my instincts tell me there's something going on, heh heh," Qin Weishan argued weakly.
Jiao An glanced sideways without looking directly at Qin Weishan—she didn't want him to see her trying to hold back laughter. Since that stumble, she had noticed something felt increasingly off. Before, making eye contact with Qin Weishan was natural—senior sister reprimanding junior brother, perfectly reasonable. But now, looking into Qin Weishan's eyes made her want to laugh... Was it because he looked funny?
Jiao An was quite satisfied with her self-questioning and firmly believed in her answer.
"Another attack, just a week later... The cemetery in Shengfeng Village was bombed, and all the villagers who volunteered to guard it were killed."
General Jiang read each word aloud while Nars quietly put away the workbench and sat down.
"I'm really worried," Liu Xuan said to Nars.
Nars didn't dare respond to Liu Xuan. Since no one survived, it seemed grim indeed.
"We're a step too late," An Xiaotian sighed.
General Jiang's rough hand rested on An Xiaotian's hand, his gaze resembling a sunflower about to bloom, directed towards the rising red sun—An Xiaotian.
"You don't need me to instruct you; I'm just your deputy," General Jiang hinted.
An Xiaotian stood up straight, stomped his foot, and saluted General Jiang. General Jiang adjusted his military cap for him and smiled back while returning the salute.
The Celestial Warriors all stood up, waiting for Captain An's command.
"I will have the police evacuate the area; we are a top-secret national unit, and they won't disobey us. You can proceed without hesitation," General Jiang said.
"Understood!" The three military veterans among the Celestial Warriors responded the quickest; the other three paused for a moment before hurriedly echoing "Understood."
"Alright." An Xiaotian truly displayed an authoritative presence as he furrowed his brow and scanned everyone seriously before ordering, "Let's go!"
"Uh... shouldn't it be 'Celestial Warriors, move out'?" Lu Sha weakly asked.
