Chapter 53
Lu Weize returned to school after his grandmother's funeral.
He seemed like a different person.
He no longer slept in class and stopped fooling around with Zhao Xinghai and the others.
Lu Weize began to study seriously and listened attentively.
Zhao Xinghai and the others were puzzled but started studying alongside Lu Weize.

The two of us chatted for a while longer before reluctantly hanging up.
Just as I set my phone down, the door suddenly opened.
Lin Yun stood at the doorway, looking displeased: "Lin Chu, come down and help."
I asked in confusion: "What's wrong?"
"Just help when I ask you to, why so much chatter?" Lin Yun frowned. "Everyone is busy, so don’t just sit around."

I picked up my phone and walked out of the room.
Downstairs, Qiao Qiran was pinning a three or four-year-old child to the ground, looking like a bully.

"Take this."
Lin Chu looked surprised. "What does this mean?"
"It's from my dad," Qiao Qiran raised an eyebrow. "If you don't take it, you're missing out."
I silently accepted the red envelope.
"Go ahead and spend it," Qiao Qiran said, putting his hands in his pockets and turning to leave.
I squeezed the red envelope in my hand, feeling a warmth in my heart.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed.
It was a message from Lu Weize: [Hey, want to hang out? I'm waiting for you by the river.]
I replied: [My family is here; I can't leave.]
Lu Weize did not reply again.
After a while, Qiao Qiran came out again.
Seeing me still standing there, he frowned slightly and asked, "Why aren't you going in?"
I shook my phone and replied, "Lu Weize asked me to go out and play."
Qiao Qiran glanced at me sideways, "If you want to play, just go."
"But my family is here..."
"I'll help you." Qiao Qiran grabbed my hand, "Come on, I'll take you out to play."
I was speechless.
Qiao Qiran drove me to the riverside.
Lu Weize and the others were already waiting there.
A group of people bought a lot of fireworks and were having a great time by the river.
Chapter 54
On Lantern Festival Eve, during morning study.
The classroom for the third year of high school was always filled with tension and pressure, as everyone was working hard for the upcoming exams. I was no exception; despite feeling exhausted, I knew I couldn't give up and couldn't let my future self regret it.
The sound of Lu Weize reciting ancient poetry echoed in the classroom. His voice was strong but also revealed a hint of anxiety.
Zhao Xinghai's teasing broke the tension, but inadvertently ignited Lu Weize's anger.
Sitting in the front row, drowsiness washed over me, yet I couldn't fall asleep due to Lu Weize's recitation, and the restlessness in my heart surged like a tide.
I slammed my hand on the table and stood up, shouting at Lu Weize. In that moment, all my fatigue and pressure seemed to find an outlet.
Lu Weize's recitation abruptly stopped; his expression shifted from surprise to anger, but was quickly subdued by my gaze.
He grabbed a glass from the table and smashed it against the corner of the wall, shouting to vent his emotions. The boys in the class cheered, thinking that this was how a man should act. Meanwhile, the girls showed disdain, clearly disapproving of his behavior.
I walked out of my seat, crumpled Lu Weize's Chinese test paper into a ball, and threw it at him before turning to leave the classroom.
Lu Weize was momentarily stunned by the hit, but he quickly chased after me to apologize. His apology surprised me, but I knew it wasn't just about the earlier conflict.
After school, Lu Weize waited for me at the classroom door and apologized again, this time more sincerely.
I told him that I had snapped at him because I felt anxious and uneasy about my future. The autonomous admissions exam for S University was an opportunity I had longed for, and I was afraid of losing it.
Upon hearing this, a hint of guilt flashed in Lu Weize's eyes. He looked at me earnestly and said, "Lin Chu, I'm really sorry; I didn't realize how much pressure you were under. But please believe me, I will stand by you through all of this."
His words brought me a sense of warmth, and as I looked at him, my eyes began to well up. Lu Weize ruffled my hair and continued, "Don't be afraid. I'm here with you. We'll work hard together and face it all together."
In that moment, I felt an unprecedented sense of reassurance. I knew that no matter the outcome, at least I was not fighting alone. Lu Weize's companionship and support gave me the courage to confront the challenges ahead.
We walked home together, the warm and gentle glow of the setting sun enveloping us. I realized that this summer, regardless of the outcome, would be one of the most unforgettable times in my life. With Lu Weize by my side, I felt an extraordinary sense of strength and hope.
Chapter 55
On Lantern Festival, the school unexpectedly gave a day off to the senior students who were attending extra classes. This sudden break surprised both teachers and students, providing us with an opportunity to adjust our state of mind.
Lu Weize seized this chance and bought movie tickets for me, saying he wanted to take me to watch a film to relax from the tension.
Thinking of Qiao Qiran's advice, I didn't want Lu Weize to spend money unnecessarily, so I planned to buy him some cola and popcorn later as a way to repay him. However, when we arrived at the cinema, Lu Weize took the initiative to buy the popcorn and cola. I wanted to pay for myself, but he grabbed my hand and jokingly said, "What? Do you look down on me?" I was taken aback; before I could respond, he pulled out his wallet and took out two red bills, insisting on paying himself.
I felt warm inside. Lu Weize was so considerate, I couldn't let him spend money. But looking at his back, I knew that this time he had to pay for the meal. Although there were no extravagant celebrations that day, I felt very content and happy with Lu Weize's company.
