Chapter 37
I returned to the Qiao Family Mansion.
I cautiously entered the house, hoping to avoid encountering Qiao Qiran.
I grabbed my suitcase and was about to leave.
However, as I was going up the stairs, I didn't notice a banana peel on the floor. I stepped on it and ended up tumbling down the stairs with both myself and the suitcase...
"Thud—"
With a dull thud, I landed at the bottom of the stairs, motionless.
Qiao Qiran was stunned. He quickly stood up and walked over with big strides. "Hey, are you okay?"
I was in so much pain that I couldn't speak.
My arm was injured; the wound was deep and blood was flowing freely.
Qiao Qiran panicked. "You... don't scare me!"
He helped me up.
I was in so much pain that tears streamed down my face as I gritted my teeth and said, "Qiao Qiran, are you doing this on purpose?"
"I..." Qiao Qiran was at a loss for words. "I really didn't mean to. I didn't know you would come back at this time. I..."
I trembled all over from the pain.
Qiao Qiran looked extremely guilty. "I'm sorry, I'll take you to the hospital right now!"
He picked me up and rushed out.
I was in so much pain that tears kept falling, and I didn't want to argue with Qiao Qiran anymore.
He placed me in the passenger seat and fastened my seatbelt.
Neither of us spoke during the drive.
Qiao Qiran knew my injury was serious and drove carefully.
When we arrived at the hospital, my face turned pale from the pain.
Qiao Qiran carried me toward the emergency room. When the nurse asked about our relationship, he paused for a moment and said, "I'm her brother."
I was surprised; I didn't expect Qiao Qiran to say that.
The nurse scolded him, "How did your sister get hurt like this? How are your parents taking care of the children?"
Qiao Qiran lowered his head and did not argue back.
The doctor was treating my wound while Qiao Qiran went to get the medicine.
He felt anxious while waiting in line.
He called Lu Weize.
When Lu Weize arrived at the hospital and saw Qiao Qiran, he shouted angrily, "Qiao Qiran, how dare you hurt Lin Chu! I'll beat you to death!"
Qiao Qiran was also furious, "It's not my fault she got hurt! Why are you blaming me?"
Lu Weize glared at him, "If you hadn't thrown the banana peel, how would Lin Chu have gotten hurt?"
Feeling guilty, Qiao Qiran broke free from Lu Weize's grip. "If you want Lin Chu to get her medicine quickly, then shut up!"
Lu Weize suppressed his anger.
He released Qiao Qiran and said coldly, "If you dare to hurt Lin Chu again, I will not let you off."
Qiao Qiran couldn't be bothered with him, grabbed the medicine, and tossed it to Lu Weize. "Here's your medicine, I'm leaving."
Lu Weize watched Qiao Qiran walk away, gritting his teeth in anger.
I came out of the wound treatment room and saw Lu Weize and Qiao Qiran at odds with each other, so I hurried over. "Lu Weize..."
Lu Weize calmed down and looked down at me. "Does it hurt?"
I shook my head. "It doesn't hurt anymore."
Lu Weize ruffled my hair. "Good."
I paused for a moment and said, "Lu Weize, don't blame Qiao Qiran."
Lu Weize snorted. "He's your brother; I wouldn't dare blame him."
I couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. "He's not my brother."
Lu Weize realized. "Oh, I forgot."
He said, "However, since he is a member of your family, I won't hold it against him."
Seeing that he was no longer angry, I smiled slightly and said, "Lu Weize, thank you."
Lu Weize ruffled my hair and said, "Silly, why are you thanking me?"
I lowered my head and smiled.
Chapter 38
The rain outside was still falling.
I walked up to Qiao Qiran and handed him an umbrella.
Qiao Qiran looked surprised and coldly asked, "What are you doing?"
I replied calmly, "It's raining outside."
Qiao Qiran took the umbrella and coldly said, "Don't think that this means I'll be grateful to you."
I didn't say anything.
In the morning, I had breakfast in the cafeteria.
I ate with concentration and didn't notice a few girls from another class looking at me.
After finishing breakfast, I left the cafeteria.
As I was leaving, I glanced at those girls.
Their gaze made me uncomfortable.
I felt out of sorts all day, sensing that someone was watching me.
In class, in the restroom, and back to the dormitory, people were discussing me and following me...
I was very scared and didn't know what to do.
I didn't want to attend gym class anymore; I wanted to go back to the classroom.
Just as I entered the building, I was stopped by a few unfamiliar boys.
"You're Lin Chu, right?"
"I heard you were sick. What illness do you have?"
"I heard you were being kept by someone. Is that true?"
"I heard your father is a rapist. Is that true?"
"Hey, say something."
I looked at them, like a swarm of flies surrounding me.
I was extremely scared and took a step back.
Backing into a corner, they closed in on me, not letting me leave.
"Have you all said enough?"
Suddenly, Qiao Qiran's voice came through.
A few boys saw Qiao Qiran and seemed a bit frightened; they muttered something and walked away.
I leaned against the wall, my face pale and my forehead covered in cold sweat.
Qiao Qiran looked at me, his brows furrowed. "Are you okay?"
I shook my head.
Qiao Qiran held my arm. "Come on, let's go to the school clinic."
I didn't refuse.
Qiao Qiran took me to the school clinic, where the doctor treated my wounds. I didn't say a word.
On the playground, Lu Weize and Xu Fei got into a fight.
Lu Weize's fist slammed into Xu Fei's face, his eyes blazing with fury.
"Say that again, and I'll kill you!"
Xu Fei was stunned from the blow: "Lu Weize, what the hell are you doing!"
Lu Weize threw another punch: "If you dare insult Lin Chu, I'll make you pay!"
Xu Fei, furious, replied: "When did I insult Lin Chu? You need to clarify that!"
"You know exactly what you said about Lin Chu behind her back. Do you want me to repeat it?" Lu Weize said coldly, gripping his collar.
Xu Fei felt guilty and gritted his teeth: "I didn't mean it; I was just concerned about Lin Chu."
Lu Weize scoffed: "Concerned about Lin Chu? Is this how you show your concern?"
Xu Fei fell silent.
Lu Weize pushed him away and said coldly: "If I hear you speak ill of Lin Chu again, I won't let you off."
After saying that, he left.
The physical education teacher came over and said sternly, "What are you doing? Do you want to be reported?"
Lu Weize coldly replied, "Whatever."
He strode away.
Xu Fei got up, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and looked at Lu Weize's back with a flash of hatred in his eyes.
Li Xin and Yang Ming watched this scene.
Li Xin smiled and said, "Lu Weize is a real man."
Yang Ming's expression was complicated.
After school, I left the classroom.
I felt the unfriendly gazes of the girls in the class on me.
I quickened my pace.
At the corner of the hallway, I ran into Yang Ming.
Yang Ming was leaning against the wall, clearly waiting for me.
I wanted to avoid her, but Yang Ming called out to me.
"Lin Chu, let's talk."
I looked at her and said nothing.
Yang Ming walked up to me and smiled, "I know you like Lu Weize, and Lu Weize likes you too.
But you can't selfishly keep him by your side without considering his future, can you?"
Confusion flashed in my eyes.
Yang Ming continued, "Today he got into a fight with Xu Fei, and things escalated. If Xu Fei reports it to the school,
Lu Weize might face disciplinary action or even expulsion. Can you bear to watch him ruin his future for you?"
My eyelashes fluttered.
Yang Ming said with a smile, "If you really care about Lu Weize, you should think about him and not let him do foolish things for you anymore."
I remained silent for a moment, then looked up at Yang Ming and said firmly, "My boyfriend is my responsibility; I don't need you to worry about him."
Yang Ming was taken aback.
I firmly said, "I can manage Lu Weize and won't let him do anything foolish, so you don't need to worry."
Yang Ming got angry: "Are you really this selfish?"
I retorted, "Aren't you selfish?"
Yang Ming was left speechless.
I walked past her and strode forward.
Yang Ming kicked the wall in frustration, her face turning pale with anger.
Chapter 39
I arrived at the street, took out my phone, and dialed Lu Weize's number.
After a few rings, it was answered.
"Lu Weize, I want to see you."
On the other end, Lu Weize's voice was gentle: "Where are you? I'll come find you."
I told him my location.
After hanging up the phone, I found a place to sit and waited for Lu Weize.
Ten minutes later, Lu Weize arrived.
He took my hand and smiled, "Come on, I'll take you somewhere."
"Where are we going?" I asked.
Lu Weize smiled mysteriously, "You'll know when we get there."
He led me to the little garden we often visited.
The moonlight spilled over the surface of the lake, and the water shimmered with glimmers of light.
Lu Weize and I walked hand in hand under the moonlight.
Lu Weize asked, "Lin Chu, were you worried about me today?"
I didn't expect him to ask that question; I was slightly taken aback and nodded.
Lu Weize pressed further, "What were you worried about?"
My cheeks turned bright red, and I stammered, "I was worried you might do something foolish."
"Then why don't you just say it, that you care about me?" Lu Weize pressed.
I lowered my head, my voice very soft: "I do care about you."
Lu Weize stopped in his tracks, looking at me with a smile at the corner of his mouth: "Just care?"
Feeling shy under his gaze, I stood on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek.
"And I like you."
Lu Weize's throat moved; he could no longer hold back and leaned down to kiss my lips.
The girl under the moonlight was soft and sweet.
Lu Weize's breath quickened.
He released me and said hoarsely, "Lin Chu, I want to take you somewhere."
I followed Lu Weize down the bustling street.
The sounds of the busy road, women's shouts, and welding filled the air.
I felt my heart race a little faster.
I was eating the White Rabbit Creamy Candy that Lu Weize gave me, the sweet taste spreading in my heart.
Lu Weize saw me walking slowly and turned to ask, "What's wrong?"
My face turned bright red as I shook my head, "It's nothing."
Lu Weize slowed his pace, took my hand, and we walked together under the ginkgo trees.
He led me to a convenience store, bought some things, and handed me a pack of White Rabbit milk candies.
I unwrapped one and popped it into my mouth while Lu Weize tucked a small box into his pocket.
We continued walking until Lu Weize stopped in front of a Budget Hotel.
My heart raced suddenly.
Lu Weize looked at me and asked, "Do you want to go in?"
I lowered my head and tightened my grip on his hand.
We entered the hotel together and booked a room with a king-sized bed.
As soon as we stepped inside, Lu Weize pushed me against the wall and eagerly kissed my lips.
I was breathless from his kiss and gently pushed him away, saying, "Lu Weize, I'm a little scared."
Lu Weize panted as he rubbed my hair, "Don't be afraid, I'll be gentle."
I sat on the edge of the bed as Lu Weize leaned over me, his movements a bit hurried and clumsy.
I gently guided him.
However, when he touched my body, I couldn't help but shiver.
Lu Weize noticed that I was trembling and stopped, saying softly, "Lin Chu, don't be afraid."
I shook my head, "I'm not afraid."
Lu Weize kissed my lips, but my body continued to tremble.
He paused and held me gently, "Lin Chu, don't be afraid. I won't hurt you."
My eyes turned red.
Lu Weize tousled my hair and asked, "Do you want me to help you with your studies?"
I nodded.
We sat at the table; I pretended to do problems while actually touching Lu Weize.
He couldn't take it anymore and grabbed my wrist, helplessly saying, "Lin Chu, if you keep this up..."
"I can't concentrate."
I blinked: "So what should I do?"
Lu Weize took a deep breath and pointed to the test paper: "Keep working on the problems."
My eyelashes fluttered: "But I can't do it."
Lu Weize sighed, holding her wrist and patiently guiding her.
My attention was completely on Lu Weize, feeling sweet inside.
