Chapter 29
I put down the book and got out of bed.
I just realized that the dormitory was about to enforce curfew.
I hurriedly got out of bed, not even changing my clothes, just wearing a long coat.
"I'm going out for a bit," I said to Li Lu.
Before Li Lu could respond, I had already left.
The night was like water, and the moonlight was cold.
As I walked through the campus at night, I felt a bit uneasy.
But I mustered my courage and went to the bottom of the teaching building.
The roll-up door leading to the hallway was slightly ajar, and I cautiously entered. The hallway was pitch dark, with only the safety exit lights casting a faint green glow.
I took out my phone for light and quickly made my way upstairs.
When I reached the top floor, I pushed open the rooftop door, and a cool breeze greeted me.
On the rooftop, Lu Weize was already waiting there.
"You made it," he smiled.
I walked over and noticed a cake on the table with a candle on top.
Surprised, I asked, "Is today your birthday?"
Lu Weize lit the candle and shook his head. "Tomorrow is, but we have classes tomorrow, so we're celebrating today."
I nodded and sat down next to the cake.
Lu Weize sat down across from me and asked, "What about you? What are you planning to do?"
I lowered my head and remained silent.
Lu Weize sighed, "Haven't you thought about what to do in the future?"
"You have a foundation in painting; you could try for the art exam."
I looked up in surprise.
Lu Weize looked at me and said, "I told you, I won't let you drop out."
My eyes began to sting.
Lu Weize chuckled, "What's wrong? Are you moved?"
I sniffed and nodded earnestly.
Lu Weize raised an eyebrow, "So how will you repay me?"
I was taken aback.
Lu Weize leaned closer, "How about offering yourself in return?"
My face instantly turned red.
Lu Weize burst into laughter.
The two of us chatted about everything under the sun.
Before we knew it, it was already midnight.
I reminded him, "Make a wish quickly."
Lu Weize nodded and closed his eyes.
I also closed my eyes and silently made a wish in my heart.
After a moment, we both opened our eyes and gathered around the candle that was as thick as a thigh to make our wishes.
Lu Weize finished his wish first and blew out the candle.
The surroundings fell into darkness.
Lu Weize suddenly leaned in and kissed my lips.
I was startled and instinctively recoiled.
Lu Weize held me close and whispered, "Don't move."
My heart raced like a drum.
Lu Weize's kiss landed again.
I tightly closed my lips, refusing to let him in.
Lu Weize tried several times but was unsuccessful.
He sighed in resignation, "Forget it, I won't force you."
He released me.
I quickly stepped back, putting distance between myself and Lu Weize.
Lu Weize looked at me, his gaze heavy.
I lowered my head and quietly apologized.
Lu Weize took a deep breath, suppressing his inner desires, and gently said, "It's okay; I was too impulsive."
He stood up. "Let's go; I'll take you home."
As we went downstairs, Lu Weize asked, "Are you going back to the dorm?"
I shook my head.
The dorm was already closed.
Lu Weize suggested, "Then let me take you home."
I still shook my head.
Lu Weize frowned and asked, "So where do you plan to go?"
I replied softly, "I'll just find a hotel outside."
Lu Weize disagreed, saying, "I can't be at ease with you staying in a hotel alone."
I lowered my gaze and remained silent.
Unable to persuade me otherwise, Lu Weize had no choice but to take me to his home.
Chapter 30
Lu Weize's house was empty, with no one around.
"Where are your parents?" I asked.
He replied casually, "They went off to handle some business."
I glanced at the family photo in the living room; in it, Lu Weize was smiling brightly alongside his parents, clearly showing their close bond.
I felt a twinge of envy.
Lu Weize led me into his room and said, "You can sleep here tonight; I'll take the sofa."
I quickly responded, "No need! I can sleep on the sofa!"
Lu Weize smiled slightly and asked, "Are you sure?"
I hesitated.
He chuckled and said, "Alright then, get some rest."
He closed the door and left.
I let out a sigh of relief and wandered around the room.
To my surprise, I found an adult magazine on the desk!
I felt my face flush and quickly shoved it into the drawer.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
"Lin Chu, have you seen my stuff?" Lu Weize asked.
My heart skipped a beat, and I stammered, "W-what stuff?"
After school, I had carried my backpack to the pharmacy to buy a few things, then headed alone to Lu Weize's house.
When I reached the entrance of the military compound, I was stopped by a guard.
"Who are you looking for?"
I politely replied, "Hello, I'm looking for Lu Weize."
"Do you have any identification?"
I shook my head.
The guard said sternly, "You can't go in."
I pleaded, "Please, just let me in. I really need to see him."
The guard remained expressionless. "No."
I took out my phone and called Lu Weize, but the call went unanswered for a long time.
I could only wait at the entrance of the compound, hoping to catch Lu Weize when he came out.
I squatted by the guardhouse door, staring inside anxiously.
Seeing my pitiful expression, the guard couldn't help but say, "Little girl, your boyfriend is coming out to look for you."
I quickly stood up and looked into the distance.
I saw Lu Weize rushing over. When he spotted me, his eyes lit up and he quickened his pace.
I couldn't help but smile.
Lu Weize ran over, panting, "What are you doing here?"
I replied, "I came to see you..."
Upon hearing this, Lu Weize frowned and asked, "You came alone?"
I nodded.
He reached out and pinched my face, "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
I winced in pain, "That hurts..."
Lu Weize huffed, "You know it hurts? What if you run into bad people coming here alone?"
I felt wronged, "I couldn't find you..."
He sighed and took my hand, leading me home. "Don't go out alone anymore, okay?"
I obediently nodded.
Holding my hand, Lu Weize brought me inside the house.
I asked, "How's your health now?"
He raised an eyebrow, "What, are you concerned about me?"
I pouted, "I'm not concerned about you."
Lu Weize chuckled softly, "You're such a little hypocrite."
I took out the medicine, "Here, I bought this for you. Remember to take it."
Lu Weize looked at the medicine box, his gaze shifting slightly.
I urged him, "Hurry up and take it."
Lu Weize opened the box, put the medicine in his mouth, and swallowed it with water.
I smiled with satisfaction.
Lu Weize looked at me and said, "You should drink some water too; you look like you've been running and are all sweaty."
I nodded and poured myself a glass of water to drink.
Lu Weize stared at my rosy lips, his Adam's apple bobbing.
After I finished drinking, I set the cup down and turned to meet Lu Weize's intense gaze.
I felt my face flush. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Lu Weize leaned closer and whispered, "Lin Chu, I want to kiss you."
I quickly covered my mouth.
Lu Weize chuckled. "Don't worry, I won't kiss you."
I lowered my hand and shot him a glare.
Lu Weize gazed at me seriously. "Lin Chu, will you be my girlfriend?"
I was taken aback.
Lu Weize continued earnestly, "I like you. Will you go out with me?"
I looked down, my cheeks burning.
Lu Weize clenched his fists nervously. "Lin Chu, will you?"
I hesitated. "I..."
Lu Weize sighed. "How much longer do you need to think about it?"
I replied, "I haven't made up my mind yet..."
Lu Weize said helplessly, "Alright, I respect your decision."
He changed the subject, "Are you hungry? Shall I take you out to eat?"
I shook my head, "I'm not hungry."
Lu Weize smiled, "Then how about I show you around my house?"
I nodded.
Lu Weize took my hand and led me to tour his bedroom, study, gym, and so on.
Finally, he brought me to the balcony.
On the balcony was a lounge chair, a table, and on the table were a cup of coffee and a newspaper.
I was surprised, "You read the newspaper?"
Lu Weize laughed, "Just browsing."
I picked up the newspaper and found that it was all in English.
I was astonished, "Can you understand it?"
Lu Weize raised an eyebrow, "Of course."
I looked at him in admiration, "Lu Weize, you're amazing!"
Lu Weize chuckled lightly, "That's nothing. I can also speak German, French, and Japanese!"
I was shocked, "How did you learn?"
Lu Weize blinked, "Because I'm smart."
I was speechless.
Lu Weize looked at me and said, "Lin Chu, we are childhood sweethearts. I've liked you since we were little."
I was skeptical, "Really?"
Lu Weize nodded, "Of course."
Lu Weize has a good foundation, and after taking the medicine I bought for him, he recovered and was full of energy the next day.
When the results of the second monthly exam came out, Lu Weize ranked first in the class and also first in the grade.
He was so pleased with himself that he joked with me, "I underperformed this time; next time I'll aim for second place just to show you."
Lu Weize's improvement in grades caught the attention of his classmates, especially since he surpassed Qin Xiao, who had always held the top position.
"Brother Lu, you're amazing!"
"Brother Lu is really impressive; he actually took down Qin Xiao!"
"Brother Lu, how did you do so well?"
Lu Weize raised an eyebrow and said, "Because I'm smart."
Everyone: "..."
Lu Weize looked at me and winked.
I bit my lip to suppress a laugh.
The reason Lu Weize did so well was that I prepared math notes for him.
He worked hard to help me improve my math grades, so naturally, I wanted him to do well too.
I took out my phone and posted on Weibo.
"Working hard to help a math-challenged guy improve his math scores, finally seeing results! Treating myself to a cup of milk tea!"
When Lu Weize saw my Weibo post, he raised an eyebrow.
In the evening, he went out for dinner at the food street with Zhao Xinghai and the others.
Zhao Xinghai asked, "Brother Lu, where are we going to have fun tonight?"
Lu Weize replied, "You guys enjoy yourselves first; I have some things to take care of."
Zhao Xinghai raised his eyebrows and teased, "What things? Is it related to Sister-in-law?"
Lu Weize laughed and scolded, "Get lost!"
Lu Weize drove to the milk tea shop, parked the car, and walked inside.
"One cup of milk tea," he said as he scanned the code to pay.
The shop owner was a young girl who blushed and felt her heart race upon seeing Lu Weize's looks. "Just a moment, it will be ready soon."
Lu Weize sat on a high stool waiting.
This shop was popular on social media, featuring a unique decor style filled with various cute dolls.
Lu Weize's handsome appearance attracted the attention of many girls.
"Wow, that guy is so handsome!"
"Really! It looks like he's waiting for milk tea."
"Quick, take a picture!"
Lu Weize had long been immune to such gazes and calmly played on his phone.
The owner handed him the milk tea and said, "Enjoy your drink."
Lu Weize took the milk tea and turned to leave.
