Chapter 24
The next day, I arrived at the classroom with dark circles under my eyes.
Lu Weize saw me and exclaimed, "Did you go stealing last night?"
I shot him a glare and said nothing.
Lu Weize leaned closer to me, grinning, "Are you sleepless because you missed me?"
My cheeks flushed slightly as I avoided his gaze.
Seeing that I remained silent, Lu Weize became even more pleased with himself: "I knew it! You must have been thinking about me."
I glared at him again and took out my textbook to review.
Noticing that I was ignoring him, Lu Weize sighed and fell silent.

The autumn sports meet was held as scheduled.

I stood at the front of the line in my brand-new school uniform, holding the flag high as I walked slowly.

I took the bottle and had a sip.

I smiled, "It's great."

After class in the afternoon, I was about to head back to the dormitory when I was stopped by a stranger girl.
"You're Lin Chu, right?" she asked.
I looked at her warily, "Is there something you need?"
She smiled and extended her hand, "Hello, I'm Li Xin. Lu Weize sent me to find you."
"Lu Weize?" I repeated in confusion.
"Yes, he asked me to help you prepare for tomorrow," she explained.
I felt a bit confused.
Li Xin smiled and said, "Don't worry, it's just a change of style."
She pulled me along to an eyewear store. Li Xin had the staff help me switch to a pair of contact lenses and adjusted the prescription several times before I finally nodded in satisfaction.
Next, she took me to a beauty center. As soon as we walked in, several makeup artists rushed over and started working on me.
"Your skin is really nice," they said.
"You have a good foundation," they commented.
"This hairstyle won't do; it needs to be redesigned," they suggested.
I was being fussed over by them, feeling a mix of helplessness and curiosity. Li Xin watched from the side, occasionally giving suggestions.
After about an hour, the makeup artists finally stopped.
"All done, you can go out now," they said.
Li Xin walked over, helped me up, turned me around, and nodded in satisfaction: "Perfect."
I stood up and started walking toward the exit.
Suddenly, Li Xin remembered something: "Oh, wait for me."
With that, she ran off. I was a bit puzzled, not knowing what she was up to.
After a while, Li Xin came back: "Okay, everything is ready."
I followed her out and arrived by the river. They were sitting by the river, smoking and chatting. When they saw Li Xin come out with me, they all looked over. In an instant, everyone was stunned.
Cao Da dropped the basketball in his hand, and it hit his foot, causing him to jump up in pain.
"Damn, Lin Chu, you..." Before he could finish his sentence, he was shot a glare by Lu Weize and immediately shut his mouth.
Lu Weize stood up, looked at me, and stammered, "You... you came."
I nodded.
Lu Weize cleared his throat and looked at Li Xin.
Li Xin handed me the flag and said with a smile, "This is for tomorrow's practice; you should get familiar with it first."
I held the flag, feeling a bit awkward.
Lu Weize walked over and extended his hand. "I'll teach you."
I hesitated for a moment before giving him my hand.
Lu Weize took my hand and led me to the riverbank, starting to explain the techniques of raising the flag and marching in formation.
He spoke very seriously, but his eyes were always fixed on me, and his face turned bright red.
I couldn't help but laugh.
Lu Weize cleared his throat again, trying to maintain his composure. "What are you laughing at?"
I suppressed my laughter. "Nothing, nothing."
Lu Weize shot me a glare and continued explaining. He was very detailed in his explanation, and I listened attentively.
However, as he turned around, Lu Weize accidentally tripped on the steps.
I quickly reached out to support him.
Lu Weize steadied himself, glanced at me, and his face turned even redder.
Chapter 25
After practice, Lu Weize walked me back to the dormitory.
When we reached the bottom of the dormitory building, I stopped and looked at Lu Weize. "Thank you."
Lu Weize smiled slightly. "You're welcome."
I looked at him, hesitating to speak.
Seeing my expression, Lu Weize couldn't help but laugh. "What's wrong?"
I lowered my gaze. "I... I'm leaving."
"Wait." Lu Weize called out to me.
I halted and turned back to look at him.
Suddenly, Lu Weize reached out, grabbed my shoulder, leaned down, and kissed me.
I was startled and hurriedly pulled away.
Lu Weize was taken aback.
I bit my lip. "I... I'm going inside."
After saying that, I turned and ran into the dormitory building.
Lu Weize stood there, staring blankly at my disappearing figure for a while before he regained his senses.
On Monday, the sports meet was held as scheduled.
I arrived at school early, changed into the flag bearer uniform, and stood at the front of the formation.
Lu Weize and Qiao Qiran were still the odd ones in the class, not wearing school uniforms. Lu Weize wore a white shirt and black cropped pants, standing at the back of the line, gazing at my back with a distracted expression.
Qiao Qiran wore a black sweatshirt, trailing at the end of the line, occasionally glancing around, seemingly lost in thought.
The homeroom teacher looked at these two and was furious: "Why aren't you two wearing your school uniforms?"
Lu Weize shrugged: "I forgot."
Qiao Qiran snorted coldly: "It wasn't washed properly."
The homeroom teacher was extremely angry but had no choice but to let them stand at the back of the line to avoid affecting the overall image.
Chapter 26
The opening ceremony began, and each class's formation entered one after another.
I held the flag high, walking confidently at the front with a straight posture.
Lu Weize watched me, feeling a surge of restlessness inside.

Halfway through the opening ceremony, I suddenly disappeared.

I trembled from vomiting, unable to say a word.
Seeing my pale face, Lu Weize felt a deep ache in his heart and wiped my tears with his hand.
"Lin Chu, don't be afraid. I'll take you to see a doctor."
I shook my head and managed to squeeze out a sentence, "I don't want to go..."
Lu Weize frowned. "Why not?"
I lowered my eyes. "I will hold everyone back..."
Lu Weize was stunned.
He didn't expect that what I was afraid of was this.
He looked at me, his gaze gentle yet firm: "Lin Chu, listen to me, no one will blame you.
You shouldn't blame yourself either; you're just too nervous."
I didn't say anything, but my body stopped trembling.
Lu Weize continued, "Your biggest enemy is actually yourself."
I slowly lifted my head and looked at him.
Lu Weize smiled slightly at me: "Trust me, I will stay with you until the sports meet is over."
Tears welled up in my eyes.
Lu Weize took my hand and led me back to the dormitory.
"Just rest well and don't think about anything; everything will be fine."
I nodded.
Lu Weize poured me a glass of water and placed it by the bed: "I'm leaving now. Don't overthink it, call me if you need anything."
I watched his departing figure, feeling warm inside.
As Lu Weize reached the door, he suddenly turned around: "Um..."
"What is it?"
Lu Weize scratched his head with a mischievous smile: "I indirectly kissed you yesterday."
The sports meet reached the afternoon of its second day, which was Lu Weize's 3000-meter race.
Before the match began, Zhao Xinghai and Cao Da helped Lu Weize with a massage to relax him.
Lu Weize asked Cao Da, "Where are the girls from our class watching?"
"They should be near the podium," Cao Da replied.

Lu Weize arrived at the teaching building and stormed into the classroom.
I was working on a problem when I suddenly felt a surge of hostility. I looked up to see Lu Weize standing in front of me.
I was startled, "Lu Weize, what are you doing here?"
Lu Weize coldly stared at me, "Why aren't you watching my match?"
I was taken aback, "I..."
"Do you think I won't win?"
I lowered my head, "I'm sorry..."
Lu Weize interrupted me, "I don't need you to say sorry, I just want you to..."
Before he could finish, I suddenly looked up and glared at him, "Lu Weize, can you be reasonable for once?"
Lu Weize was taken aback.
Tears fell from my eyes, "I was planning to watch your match. I've been cheering for you, but you... you treat me so harshly..."
Lu Weize looked at me, suddenly feeling a wave of panic.
He reached out to wipe my tears, "Lin Chu, I..."
"Go away!"
I pushed Lu Weize away. He stumbled a few steps before turning and running out the door.
I watched his back, feeling a surge of grievance in my heart.
I didn't understand why he was always so domineering and why he couldn't just listen to my explanation.
I wiped my tears and continued with my work, but my mind was a mess, and I couldn't focus at all.
