"I can sense the fragrance of a hundred flowers on you." As three people and a bun just walked out of Liu Family Village, a beautifully dressed woman in colorful clothing stopped Hua Man Lou.
"I naturally carry the scent of the flowers I love to cultivate," Hua Man Lou replied with great poise, not at all angry about being halted in such a mysterious manner.
"You truly love flowers, don't you? The flowers you grow love you too. That's why you have the Blessing of a Hundred Flowers." The woman stared at Hua Man Lou, her eyes growing brighter.
The Blessing of a Hundred Flowers? What is that?
"This young lady, if there's nothing else, we must be on our way," Hua Man Lou politely nodded to the woman, deciding to quickly leave this strange person. He had not forgotten that in this world, deities and monsters roamed freely; the woman before him could very well be some flower spirit or fairy. Regardless of which, he did not wish to get involved.
"Don't go!" The woman's hand moved slightly, and Hua Man Lou found himself unable to move.
"I originally intended to visit the son of the Three Holy Mothers, but unexpectedly encountered someone who has earned the trust of a hundred flowers. Be my disciple! I am a Floral Fairy; since you love flowers so much, I can entrust you with managing the fresh flowers in the future." The Floral Fairy gazed intently at Hua Man Lou. Emma, she couldn't let such a compatible disciple slip away.
Hua Man Lou was both amused and exasperated; did deities really enjoy casually recruiting disciples on the street?
Hua Man Lou kindly declined the Floral Fairy: "Thank you for your esteem, but I do not wish to cultivate into a deity."
"Why not?" The Floral Fairy was puzzled. "Isn't being a deity good? Don't mortals envy deities? Why don't you want to become one? Once you're a deity, managing flowers will be even easier for you!"
Hua Man Lou replied, "I have elderly parents at home; I do not wish to abandon them to pursue immortality. I only wish to fulfill my filial duty under their knees."
"I thought it was something serious!" The Floral Fairy said nonchalantly. "I'll teach you the methods of cultivation; once you enter the path, you can cultivate on your own. At that time, you can stay by your parents' side and cultivate while fulfilling your filial duty!"
"…Can it really be that simple?" However, Hua Man Lou had no interest in becoming immortal. "I only wish to be an ordinary person!"
The Floral Fairy was determined not to give up on such an excellent successor she had finally encountered. She directly pressed a seal onto Hua Man Lou's forehead: "I have already placed the mark of a hundred flowers on you; you are now considered my disciple."
Hua Man Lou looked helplessly at Bai Tang, seeking help, but how could Bai Tang possibly ruin his opportunity? Initially, respecting Hua Man Lou's choice was because even if he ate the Peach of Immortality, he would only become the lowest-level immortal, which was not worth it. Now that he had a Master guiding him in his cultivation, there was no need to worry about his strength and future. Hua Man Lou was the "Flower God" for his fans, and now it was truly well-deserved.
"This is your opportunity; I cannot ruin it," Bai Tang said in a mystical manner. "Fate and karma. Perhaps you and Lu Feng are destined to become immortals; otherwise, you wouldn't have followed me to this world. Lu Feng wouldn't have been taken by Peacock Ming Wang, and you wouldn't have caught the attention of the Floral Fairy."
With an unhelpful friend and a future Master too obsessed, Flower Seven Young Master had no choice but to accept his fate.
"Since you are about to embark on the path of immortality, take this; it can help you enter the realm sooner." Bai Tang took out a Peach of Immortality and handed it to Hua Man Lou.
"Peach of Immortality?" Floral Fairy exclaimed. "How do you have a Peach of Immortality?"
Even she, as the Floral Fairy, had only eaten the Peach of Immortality three times; it was unbelievable that a non-immortal friend could produce one.
"Ah, our friend is a disciple of Peacock Ming Wang; the Peach of Immortality was given to me by him." Lord Kong Xuan, please take the blame just this once.
"So you have connections with Peacock Ming Wang," Floral Fairy calmed down. Kong Xuan was a great deity born in ancient times with a noble status; having more Peaches of Immortality was normal. Thinking about her disciple's friendship with Kong Xuan's disciple made Floral Fairy feel gratified; she herself was bullied even by Bull Demon King due to her lack of strength. But with Kong Xuan as a backing for her disciple, who would dare bully him?
"Come back to Baihua Island with me; I will introduce you to the other flower fairies," Floral Fairy said as she took her new disciple's hand and prepared to leave.
Bai Tang hurriedly asked, "Where is Baihua Island? If I want to see Seven Children, how do I find him?"
Floral Fairy replied, "Baihua Island is located on an overseas immortal island, near Fangzhang Island. Once you reach the island, you will see a mountain ridge with 'Mirror Flower Mound' engraved on its steep cliff. That is where Baihua Island is located."
Bai Tang exclaimed, "Isn't it that after turning around the cliff and walking less than a mile, there is a white jade archway with 'Shuiyue Village' engraved on it? After passing through the archway, there is a long stream blocking the way; although there is no bridge, there is a large pine tree that several people cannot embrace at the stream's edge. It slopes down from this hillside all the way across to the opposite hillside like it's toppled over—like a pine root bridge? After crossing the stream, there is a dense pine forest about half a mile long. After passing through the pine forest and looking around, it's truly picturesque with beautiful waters and mountains. In the distance atop that peak are jade pavilions and golden palaces; such serene scenery seems like another world. While admiring it, I suddenly saw auspicious clouds swirling in front of me and colorful purple mist emerging from that beautiful landscape revealing a red pavilion. In front of the pavilion hung a golden plaque inscribed with 'Crying Red Pavilion.' Beside it was a couplet that read: 'Peach blossoms flow away quietly; bright moon Azure Wind roams everywhere.'"
Floral Fairy was astonished by such a detailed description: "How do you know so much detail? Have you been to Baihua Island?"
Bai Tang asked in return, "May I ask if the fairy has a worldly name? Is it Tang Shan or Tang Guichen?"
Floral Fairy was even more surprised: "I indeed went to the mortal realm recently to settle some karmic ties, and my worldly names are Tang Shan and Tang Guichen. How did you know?"
Bai Tang replied, "I happened to see a book that recorded how at Queen Mother's Peach Banquet, Floral Fairy made a bet with Chang'e, and later due to the intervention of the Martial Emperor, the flowers bloomed in winter. The flower fairies thus violated the rules and descended to experience tribulations."
Floral Fairy pressed further, "What is the name of that book? Do you have it with you? Can you give it to me?"
Bai Tang shook her head: "The book is called 'Mirror Flower, Water Moon.' I was fortunate enough to see it but did not bring it with me."
Floral Fairy, even with a frown, looked beautiful: "If you happen to see that book again, could you please inform me?"
Bai Tang nodded without hesitation: "Of course!"
Floral Fairy had ulterior motives, but unfortunately, there was no such book.
Floral Fairy then said, "Could you write down the contents of 'Mirror Flower, Water Moon' and give it to me?"
This posed no problem. Although Bai Tang had read 'Mirror Flower, Water Moon' during her university days and some details were unclear, she still remembered the general plot, especially several riddles and the strange nations that Tang Ao traveled through, which left a deep impression on her.
"Only there is no pen or paper here..."
"This is easy!" Floral Fairy picked a light yellow wildflower from the roadside. Under the astonished gazes of Bai Tang and Hua Man Lou, the petals transformed into light-colored silk, the stem into a brush, and the green leaves melted into dark green ink.
"What a skill!" Bai Tang clapped her hands. "But I'm not used to writing with a brush."
Stop with the calligraphy; even Sister Bai can't write well with a fountain pen. Ever since Mobile Phone and computers became common, who still writes by hand?
"It's okay, as long as I can understand it," Floral Fairy said, not caring about the quality of the writing but rather the content.
What else could Bai Tang do but hand over the bun Xun Huan to Hua Man Lou—as for not giving it to Karen Adrian, that guy was too cold and would scare the child.
"Whose child is this?" Floral Fairy asked curiously, looking at the bun; the child seemed a bit familiar!
"A friend's child," Bai Tang replied vaguely. Since Floral Fairy knew both Yang Jian and Aoxinchin, Bai Tang was worried she might figure it out.
Fortunately, Floral Fairy didn't think of Yang Jian and Aoxinchin, believing that her familiarity with the child was due to fate. Seeing such a soft and thin bun, her heart softened as well. She took out a jade bottle and placed it in the child's arms: "This child looks so frail; is he unwell? I have a bottle of Honey of a Hundred Flowers. Although it's not particularly special, it can help strengthen the body. I'll give it to this child!"
"Thank you, Master!" Hua Man Lou expressed gratitude on behalf of the bun, feeling even better about Floral Fairy. His Master was not a distant deity but a kind and gentle fairy who loved children.
Meanwhile, Bai Tang began to write quickly. Although her calligraphy wasn't particularly beautiful, it wasn't as bad as chicken scratch either. When she was young, her grandparents took care of her for a long time. Her grandmother was very traditional and believed that children should learn music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. Although she wasn't an expert, she should at least have some understanding so that she wouldn't seem uncultured when out in public. When Bai Tang was young, she had to write five large characters every day. Even though she hadn't practiced calligraphy in a long time and felt a bit rusty now, her foundation remained; writing a few more would make it smoother.
"…On Penglai Mountain, there is a Bitter Fate Rock, on which there is a Red Face Cave. Inside the cave lives an Immortal Mistress, who oversees famous flowers; she is the Queen of Flowers, known as Floral Fairy. She has been cultivating here for many years. On this day, coinciding with the birthday of the Queen Mother on the third day of the third month, she was about to go celebrate when her acquaintance, Bai Cao Xianzi, invited her to attend the Peach Blossom Banquet. Thus, Floral Fairy ordered a girl to carry some Baihua Honey; she also invited two fairies: Hundred Fruits and Hundred Grains. The four Immortal Mistresses, each riding on clouds, headed towards the western Kunlun. As they traveled halfway, auspicious clouds surrounded them, and purple mist swirled around; it turned out that various deities from different caves were also going to the banquet. Suddenly, from within the North Dipper Palace, a brilliant red light appeared, dazzling to behold. A Star Lord emerged dancing. Dressed similarly to Kwai Xing, yet possessing beauty like that of a stunning woman. Holding a brush in one hand and a fighting stick in the other; surrounded by red light and riding colorful clouds, she also headed towards Kunlun..." (To be continued.)
