To save gasoline, the air conditioning was not turned on in the car, making the interior feel like a sauna. The heat was unbearable for the four people inside, leaving them lethargic. Tian Yanran used her Ability to conjure ice cubes, but they melted within five minutes. To cool down, she continuously utilized her Ability, which consumed a lot of energy. Fortunately, before her Ability was completely depleted, the sun set behind the mountains, and the temperature dropped at night, making it easier for the four of them to endure. Tian Yanran seized the opportunity to recover her Ability; this unusual consumption and recovery allowed her Ability to surpass that of Yuan Mingyi and Tang Minglang, prompting the two men to feel competitive and strive to catch up. 0

The group stopped to rest at a villa located in a newly developed area where many houses had just been built and were still undergoing renovations. As a result, there were only a few Zombies in the vicinity, which Tang Minglang quickly eliminated with a box of hidden weapons. Bai Tang took it upon himself to pull out food and cooking utensils from his backpack to prepare dinner. In order to save time and hurry back to S Province, they had subsisted on bread for breakfast and lunch, making dinner their most anticipated meal. Of course, Bai Tang's excellent cooking skills were also one of the reasons they looked forward to dinner. 0

Tang Minglang and Yuan Mingyi teamed up to inspect the surrounding area, dealing with any stray Zombies and searching for food and useful items. 0

Bai Tang took out buckwheat noodles, chunks of beef, four eggs, a vacuum-sealed bag of spicy kimchi, instant soup packets, and several vegetables from his backpack. He placed the soup packets into a pot along with the beef chunks; in another pot, he boiled the buckwheat noodles. Once cooked, he rinsed them in cold water and set them aside. He cracked two eggs into a bowl, whisked them together, and cooked them in oil to make an egg crepe before cutting it into strips. He prepared shredded radish, cucumber, and kimchi as well; he boiled the remaining two eggs until hard-boiled, peeled them, and cut them into quarters. He peeled a pear, cut some into strips, and juiced the rest. After removing the beef from the soup and slicing it thinly, he let the broth cool for later use. Next came plating: he formed a mound of buckwheat noodles in the center of each bowl and arranged shredded radish, cucumber strips, pear strips, kimchi on top. He drizzled chili sauce over it all before adding slices of cooked beef and half of a boiled egg on the side along with some egg strips. Finally, he poured beef broth over everything and added the previously juiced pear juice; simple Korean Cold Noodles were ready. 0

Tian Yanran and Yuan Mingyi emerged just in time. 0

"It smells so good! What are we having for dinner?" Yuan Mingyi sniffed eagerly as the rich aroma of beef broth made him salivate. 0

"It's too hot; I have no appetite for anything!" Tian Yanran's complexion had not fully recovered yet; she still looked somewhat pale. 0

"Knowing everyone’s appetite is poor, I made Korean Cold Noodles—sour and spicy with a refreshing taste; I guarantee you’ll be able to eat," Bai Tang said as he served a bowl of cold noodles to Tian Yanran. "Give it a try!" 0

Yuan Mingyi independently picked up one of the bowls and took a bite; finding it quite tasty, he immediately dug in heartily. 0

"This is delicious! Just as good as cold noodles! Bai Tang, let’s make cold noodles tomorrow!" Although he enjoyed Korean Cold Noodles very much, Yuan Mingyi preferred S Province's signature spicy cold noodles as a true local. Ironically, Tian Yanran—a girl from Jiangnan—preferred Korean Cold Noodles over spicy cold noodles. 0

"Sure!" Bai Tang agreed. Their mealtime felt more like dining than surviving in an apocalyptic world; others in such times often struggled to find food unlike their picky preferences. "Where's Tang Minglang? Why hasn't he returned yet?" 0

"I don't know! We split up to patrol different directions; I hope he hasn’t run into any trouble." 0

As soon as the words fell, Tang Minglang entered the room, and all three people's gazes were drawn to what he was holding in his arms. It was a baby, no more than a year old, with very cute features. Perhaps she was extremely hungry, as her head hung limply against Tang Minglang's chest, lacking the strength even to cry; her voice sounded like a cat mewing. 0

"Where did this child come from?" Bai Tang and the others widened their eyes in surprise. 0

"I found her in the basement of a villa," Tang Minglang said urgently. "Don't ask so many questions; hurry up and prepare something for her to eat. She's starving." 0

"Let's give her some meat soup!" Bai Tang scooped a bowl of meat soup. "Can this child drink meat soup?" 0

"She should be able to!" Tian Yanran took the baby from Tang Minglang's arms and dipped chopsticks into the soup, feeding the baby bit by bit. "My third senior sister told us about her parenting experience; babies can start eating solid food at four months and can eat meat at six months. This child looks like she should be over a year old." 0

"This child is really lucky; she wasn't eaten by zombies or starved to death!" Yuan Mingyi found it miraculous, as the survival rate of children in the apocalypse was extremely low. 0

"It's not that the child is lucky; it's that maternal love is great!" Tang Minglang said while eating the cold noodles that Bai Tang had served him. "When I found this child, I also discovered her mother's corpse. The child's mother must have been injured during the earthquake, damaging her internal organs, and she held on for less than two days before passing away. However, before she died, she cut open her wrist and placed it near the child's mouth, hoping to feed her with her own blood so that the child could survive a little longer until someone came to rescue her. Unfortunately, the blood coagulated, and the child didn't get any blood for two or three days. If I hadn't gone in to look for her, this child would have starved to death." 0

Bai Tang couldn't help but sigh at the greatness of maternal love, feeling deep sympathy for the child. She turned to look at the baby in Tian Yanran's arms. After drinking some meat soup, the baby's hunger was alleviated, and she seemed more energetic now, her eyes moving around curiously as she observed everyone in the room, looking clever and adorable. 0

"Did the child's mother leave any clues about what name she wanted for her?" 0

"No! How about we give her a name?" Tang Minglang's eyes sparkled with interest. He was still quite young, younger than Bai Tang and the others, yet he had a youthful spirit. 0

"Sure! Since you saved this child, you can name her! By the way, is this a boy or a girl?" Yuan Mingyi asked. 0

"It's a girl!" Tang Minglang knew the baby's gender when he brought her back and looked happily at the child in Tian Yanran's arms. "This child has a connection with me; let's give her my surname Tang! Her name will be Tang Yun." 0

"Tang Yun? Not bad! I didn't realize you had some literary talent!" Yuan Mingyi teased. 0

"Hmph, every disciple of Tang Sect must be well-rounded in both literature and martial arts, unlike you Dongshan Sect folks, a bunch of brutes!" Tang Minglang raised his nose. 0

Yuan Mingyi snorted, "If you're not a brute, can you code? Is your English better than mine? Times have changed; cultural knowledge includes not just literature but also mathematics and science. Science is the greatest driving force for social development! Kid, you're outdated!" 0
