I instinctively hid, cautiously observing the sudden appearance of this person. He was wearing a uniform of the Time Station staff, looking flustered, clutching some documents tightly in his hands, and he didn't seem like an enemy.
He appeared to be searching for something as well, but he didn't notice my presence. I watched him for a while and noticed he kept glancing back, seemingly worried about being discovered. At that moment, I realized he might share a common goal with me.
I decided to take a risk and stepped out gently, trying to speak in a calm voice, "What are you looking for?"
He jumped at the sound of my voice, turning around with a flicker of panic in his eyes, which was quickly replaced by determination. "I'm here to find you," he said firmly.
He hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath as if making up his mind. "I... I know some internal matters that might help you." He pointed to the documents in his hands. "These files contain some key information that could be useful to you."
I scrutinized him warily, filled with doubt. "How do you know I would need this information?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly.
A glimmer of understanding crossed his eyes, as if he had anticipated my question. "I've been monitoring the misconduct within the station," he replied quietly. "When I saw you here, I knew the time had come. Your arrival is not a coincidence; you're searching for the truth, aren't you?" It turned out that the feeling of being watched when I first arrived was not an illusion.
I fell silent; his directness and honesty made me lower my guard slightly.
"I've worked at this station for many years," he continued. "I know what they are hiding and what they fear. These documents are evidence I've collected over the years; I've been waiting for someone to expose it all."
His words revealed a deep sense of determination and justice that began to earn my trust. He not only understood my needs but also shared a common goal with me.
"I can't just stand by and watch them continue like this," he added. "The corruption at Time Station runs deep, but I believe that with this evidence, we can change the situation."
I looked at him intently before quickly transferring the files and data onto a storage device. "We need to hurry," I urged. "Once we're discovered, it's over for both of us."
He nodded and began helping me operate the terminal, his fingers flying over the keyboard as he clearly knew these devices well. "These files," he pointed to the documents in his hands, "contain some crucial information you'll need."
I took the files and quickly skimmed through them. They detailed Time Station's transactions with the outside world and even included some high-level secret dealings. "This... this is too important," I said, my voice tinged with excitement.
Just then, we heard footsteps approaching from outside; someone was clearly getting closer. My heart raced as I realized our time was running out.
"Quickly, transfer these data and files to this device." I pulled out a small storage device and began urgently moving the data.
Our movements were swift and orderly, but time was tight; I could feel the footsteps drawing nearer. "Done! Let's go!" I whispered as I shoved the storage device into my pocket.
We quickly left the data center, navigating through the corridors of Time Station, searching for an escape route. The alarm blared in our ears, each step fraught with danger.
"Follow me; I know a safe route out of here," he whispered as he led the way forward.
We maneuvered through narrow passages until we finally reached a concealed exit. He opened the door to reveal an unknown starry sky outside.
"From here, you'll find a small spaceship that can take you away," his voice carried a hint of reluctance.
I turned back to look at him. "Aren't you coming with me?"
He shook his head. "I have my own mission; I can't leave. You need to go now; the people at Time Station will soon discover something is wrong here."
A surge of gratitude welled up in my heart as I tightly grasped his hand. "Thank you for your help."
He smiled and then gave me a gentle push. "Hurry up, time waits for no one."
I took a deep breath and turned to step into the spaceship. As the ship powered up, I left Time Station behind, filled with a mix of emotions. I held evidence that could reveal the secrets of Time Station, but I also left an unknown ally in danger at Time Station.
