The sound of chains clanking behind us grew ever closer, hauntingly pursuing us. We could even feel a warm breath brushing against the back of our necks. I pulled Lu Yuanbai along as we ran, trying to shake off that terrifying sound. However, strangely enough, that sneaky noise always appeared leisurely right behind us, like a mischievous cat toying with an elusive mouse. 0

Suddenly, Lu Yuanbai came to a sudden stop, gripping me tightly with his hands, his nails digging into my skin. "I have a feeling that thing is not far from us," Lu Yuanbai whispered to me. I turned to look back, but in the darkness, I could see nothing at all. Only my own heavy and rapid breathing echoed in the silence, like a dying patient struggling at the edge of life and death. 0

I strained to find any sign of movement in the pitch blackness, but aside from the sound of chains, there was nothing to be seen. Fear and despair surged over me like a tidal wave; I realized that we were at a critical juncture where we had to make a choice. This was a life-and-death decision hanging by a thread. 0

"We need to rush out quickly; we can't just stay here," I said in a low voice. "We have to hurry and run forward." My words echoed in the empty carriage, filled with an unyielding determination and resolve. Lu Yuanbai did not respond, but I could feel his body trembling slightly. 0

We groped our way forward in the dark, each step filled with unknown fear. Just as we were speaking, the carriage door suddenly closed without warning. With a loud bang, the sound reverberated in the enclosed space as if the god of fate had mercilessly shut the door to hope before us. My heart sank instantly. 0

"The door... it actually closed," Lu Yuanbai murmured. I looked back and saw that the tightly shut carriage door loomed like an insurmountable wall, blocking our only escape route. Our retreat had been completely cut off. The sound of dragging chains echoed around us, each clank mocking our helplessness. 0

I turned to Lu Yuanbai and asked, "What should we do now?" A hint of despair crept into my voice, a fear of the unknown and confusion about the future. 0

"Quick, let's see if there’s another way out," Lu Yuanbai replied, his voice shaky. "This compartment is so big; there must be more than one exit." 0

I understood what he meant, but in this pitch-black darkness, we couldn't find our way at all. Moreover, the One-Eyed Guardian was lurking in the shadows, waiting for us to make a mistake. 0

Lu Yuanbai tightly grasped my hand, his tone tinged with a hint of tears. "Xiao Yangxia, we need to hurry. I don’t want to die here." 0

Who would want to lose their life in such a cursed place? 0

I helplessly groped my way through the darkness, my hand lightly brushing against the walls of the compartment, hoping to find a glimmer of hope. Suddenly, I heard a dull thud. 0

"Xiao Yangxia, where are you?" Lu Yuanbai called out anxiously. 0

"I'm right here," I replied. "I think I found something..." 0

Before I could finish my sentence, the sound of chains grew closer. 0

"It's coming," Lu Yuanbai shouted loudly. 0

I quickened my pace, my fingers frantically searching along the walls. 0

"Xiao Yangxia, you can do it!" Lu Yuanbai encouraged me from beside. 0

"I found it!" I exclaimed excitedly. "There’s a movable panel here." 0

Lu Yuanbai immediately rushed over to help me push the panel with all our strength. 0
