Actually, before this, I stumbled upon some scientific reports online about changes in Earth's orbital path. I gathered the report materials and carefully reviewed them with him, which made me even more worried. "We are going to have big trouble," I emphasized again.
"Mom and Dad, what my brother said is right; we can't be careless," my younger brother chimed in.
"Oh dear, you two really shouldn't joke about such things," Mom scolded.
"Mom, we're not joking; we're serious!" my brother and I said in unison.
"Don't be so neurotic, son," she replied impatiently. "Our lives need to go on; we can't change everything because of your baseless speculation."
"Mom, this isn't baseless speculation!" I retorted. "Do you know how much evidence I've gathered?"
"I don't care about your evidence," Mom said coldly. "All I know is that my life cannot be disrupted by these nonsensical claims."
The argument between my mom and me created a tense atmosphere at the dining table. Dad remained silent, seemingly deep in thought, while my younger brother curiously watched us, occasionally glancing at his phone.
"Alright, Lin Hao," Dad finally spoke up. "I know you've been worried about disasters, but we can't just give up our normal lives because of that."
"Dad, I'm not saying we should give up our normal lives; we just need to be more cautious," I explained. "We need to prepare more."
"What do you think we should do?" Dad asked.
"First, we need to stock up on supplies," I said. "We must ensure we have enough food and water."
"That's not a problem," Dad replied. "We can go to the supermarket and buy more things."
"No, it's not just about buying things," I emphasized. "We need to allocate our resources wisely."
"What do you mean?" Mom questioned. "Do you want us to live like refugees?"
"No, I just want to make sure we can survive possible disasters," I said calmly. "We must make some sacrifices."
"I disagree," Mom said. "We should live normally and not be overly anxious."
"Mom, I just want to protect the family," I felt helpless and heartbroken. "I don't want you to get hurt."
"I understand how you feel, son," Dad said. "But we also need to consider the practical situation."
"So you all don't want to believe me?" I felt disappointed. "Even after I've provided so much evidence?"
"Lin Hao, this isn't a matter of trust," Dad said. "We just think your warnings are a bit exaggerated."
"I'm not exaggerating," I said firmly. "I will prove it to you."
