Mother Chen turned her head to stare at Qiu Hai, gently tugging at Autumn Wind's sleeve and lowering her voice to ask, "Who is he? Your boyfriend?"
Autumn Wind's calm smile disappeared as she bit her lower lip. "Sort of!"
"Sort of? Well, it seems you two really did have a fight! Come here, young man!" Mother Chen instantly took on the role of a mediator, waving for Qiu Hai to come over.
"Did you call me?" Qiu Hai pointed to himself and asked in return. Mother Chen gave him an affirmative look, indicating it was indeed him.
"You are Guanqing, not Qiu Feng's boyfriend!" Seeing that Qiu Hai wasn't approaching, Mother Chen took a step forward and walked up to him.
In her youth, Mother Chen was not very tall, and now that she was older, she had shrunk even more. Standing in front of the tall Qiu Hai, she couldn't even reach his shoulders. Yet, she still tilted her head back to look at his face. "You are really handsome! It's fine to accompany Qiu Feng!"
Qiu Hai was puzzled as to why this elderly woman seemed to want to lecture him. He bent down slightly, lowered his face, and politely asked, "Auntie, what can I do for you?"
"Of course there's something! Did you have a fight with Guanqing?" Mother Chen was really not used to the name "Qiu Feng," so she reverted back.
Guanqing? Qiu Hai didn't immediately react; after a moment of thought, he exclaimed, "Ah, you mean Autumn Wind!" with a loud gasp.
"That's right, it's her!" Mother Chen waved her hand and turned back to look at Autumn Wind. "Come on, Auntie is talking to you!" She turned her head and pulled Autumn Wind forward again while starting to instruct Qiu Hai.
Autumn Wind tilted her head and watched the exaggeratedly posturing Mother Chen standing on tiptoe and looking up at Qiu Hai. Then she glanced at Qiu Hai, who was bending over despite being very tall. She couldn't help but chuckle softly, the earlier unpleasantness with Qiu Hai completely forgotten.
"Guanqing is a good child; her fate has just been unfortunate. If her father hadn't insisted on having surgery for her back then, you probably wouldn't have had the chance to meet her!" Mother Chen said calmly. "You need to cherish her!"
"Surgery? Autumn Wind had surgery? What kind?" Qiu Hai knew that Autumn Wind had undergone numerous surgeries after the car accident, but from Mother Chen's words, it seemed like there was one done before that in Taipei.
"A Bone Marrow Transplant! That...," her words trailed off as Mother Chen realized she had said something inappropriate. Many people are unwilling to be with someone who has had Leukemia; this must be considered for future generations. But then she thought that if they were currently having conflicts and later got married, if this man found out about it and wanted a divorce, wouldn't Guanqing end up being a divorced woman?
"No, no, it's better to have a short pain than a long one." Looking at the man in a sharp suit, who was elegant in demeanor, it was clear that the watch on his wrist was quite valuable; there shouldn't be any financial issues.
Seeing Qiu Hai's curious gaze, Mother Chen sighed again and truthfully recounted the story that even Autumn Wind couldn't remember, "Ah, thinking about it, I really spoke too much. Young man, Auntie just wants you to know that there are no obstacles in this world that can't be overcome. You need to cherish her and love her. Guanqing has already had a tough time..."
Qiu Hai straightened up, glanced at Autumn Wind who was looking around in the distance, and then looked down at Mother Chen, "Auntie, don't worry. I know what to do!"
Mother Chen smiled brightly, "Good, good, good..." She stepped back to Autumn Wind's side and handed her something to put into Qiu Hai's hand. "When you're young, it's normal to bicker. Only by getting along harmoniously can you have a good future..." After saying that, she bent down to tidy up Grandchild's toys and took the children's hands as they walked towards the distant Amusement Park.
That carefree demeanor resembled a warrior in a television drama who had just accomplished something significant.
Watching Mother Chen's figure fade away, Autumn Wind and Qiu Hai couldn't help but laugh together. Qiu Hai held Autumn Wind's hand tightly and pulled her into his embrace. "I didn't expect you to know such an interesting old lady!"
"Yes, back when we were in the welfare institute, Mother Chen often told us jokes..." Autumn Wind fell into memories of the past, but this pleasant feeling didn't last long as she recalled another matter: Did Mother Chen really undergo a spinal cord transplant?
Qiu Hai hugged Autumn Wind tightly from behind; he was also thinking about the same thing she had just pondered—had she received a Bone Marrow transplant from Guan Xiu?
Meanwhile, Mother Chen was playing with Grandchild at the amusement park. The children insisted on going into the water bed area. Unable to withstand their persistent pleas, Mother Chen had no choice but to pay for them. The children joyfully dashed into the water bed while she stood outside with toys and snacks on a parent's resting chair.
A young man in a black suit sat beside her. "Excuse me, are you Mother Chen, retired from the Jinan Children's Welfare Institute?"
The man's voice was gentle and clear. Mother Chen turned to look at him. "I am. What can I do for you?"
"This is my business card; I need your cooperation on something," he said respectfully as he handed over his card.
"You are a lawyer..." Mother Chen exclaimed in surprise. "Alright, I will definitely cooperate with you!"
The man's lips curled into a smile as he slowly opened his mouth to ask a question.
...
Autumn Wind and Qiu Hai had already returned to Beijing early that morning. They were set to take a flight back to Taipei, and Qiu Hai's phone had been bombarded with calls.
After boarding, Autumn Wind put on her eye mask, preparing to sleep. "I'm going to take a nap..." she gently nudged Qiu Hai.
But Qiu Hai did not respond. He removed his eye mask and looked at Qiu Hai, only to be met with Liu Jian's face.
He was actually on the same flight as us! Autumn Wind nervously clenched her hands and glanced sideways at Qiu Hai.
Qiu Hai stared straight ahead, a smile twitching at the corners of his mouth. He knew Autumn Wind was watching him. His jaw moved slightly, as if he were contemplating something or trying to control his emotions. A few seconds later, he turned his head toward Liu Jian. "I haven't heard of any events from the company here in mainland China. Why are you here, Mr. Liu?"
Liu Jian was taken aback, crossing his arms over the armrest. "There are no events; didn't Qiu Dong come too?" He looked at Qiu Hai, lowering his voice suddenly. "Don't let Qiu Dong's emotions show so clearly. I know exactly what I'm doing!"
"Is that so? If that's the case, there wouldn't be so many misunderstandings between Autumn Wind and me!" He turned his face toward Autumn Wind, took her delicate hand, and gently kissed it, smirking proudly. "Compared to someone else, I actually haven't won!" He looked at Autumn Wind with a smile in his eyes, a smile that made her feel quite apprehensive.
She wanted to pull her hand back, but her thoughts were uncontrollable; she just froze.
She realized she was increasingly unable to understand Qiu Hai. He was shrouded in a huge mystery that clouded Autumn Wind's perception.
To find some peace, Autumn Wind put her eye mask back on. As the plane ascended and the pressure fluctuated, she unexpectedly fell asleep amidst the turbulence. When she opened her eyes again, both Qiu Hai and Liu Jian were gone.
They wouldn't have had some conflict again, would they...?
In the narrow toilet, two men were almost face to face, the atmosphere extremely strange as they silently stared at each other, neither intending to speak first.
The plane suddenly jolted but soon returned to stability. Qiu Hai was the first to break the silence, staring at Liu Jian with none of the victorious arrogance he had displayed in his seat earlier. "Did you call me for something?" As he spoke, his eyes narrowed into a slit, and he reached up to touch the tip of his nose, a smirk forming on his lips, his voice hoarse yet magnetic.
Being so close made Liu Jian forget what he had intended to say. He watched as Qiu Hai elegantly lowered his hand from his nose. The high bridge of his nose and seductive gaze seemed somewhat different from the Qiu Hai in Liu Jian's memory.
Qiu Hai's gaze had always been sharp; it was unusual for him to have such a sparkle in his eyes. This kind of look was only seen in Qiu Mowen among the men around him.
Suddenly, he recalled that just a few days ago, Qiu Hai had decisively come to mainland China to handle a crisis. Liu Jian had seen those methods in Qiu Mowen's recordings.
Noticing Liu Jian lost in thought, Qiu Hai touched the tip of his nose again.
This gesture was also something Qiu Mowen would do.
Liu Jian looked at Qiu Hai in shock, unable to believe the thought that had crossed his mind. No, it couldn't be. If that were true, how could he be with Autumn Wind...
"If you have nothing else, should we leave here? If this gets out..." Qiu Hai shrugged, raised an eyebrow, and said softly.
"I... I just wanted to say, don't worry, I won't cling to Autumn Wind anymore..." Liu Jian stammered, the sudden thought that had flooded his mind stealing all the air from his head.
Qiu Hai narrowed his eyes skeptically. "I hope that's true..." With that, he opened the toilet door and walked out.
Qiu Hai's movement brought a rush of air into the space. Liu Jian sat weakly on the toilet lid, beads of sweat already forming on his forehead.
After a transfer, the three finally returned to Taipei. She hadn't arranged for Uncle Liu to meet them at the airport.
Sitting in Qiu Hai's car, Autumn Wind waited anxiously for Qiu Hai to arrive. She didn't have the courage to roll down the window to check, and lightly coughed, "Old Cheng, where is your young master?"
Under normal circumstances, if Qiu Hai didn't get in the car, Old Cheng wouldn't dare to enter either. However, just a moment ago, he had been "urged" into the car by Qiu Hai while standing below.
"I’m not sure either; he’s discussing something with Mr. Liu!" Old Cheng rolled down the window and looked at the distant Qiu Hai and Liu Jian, providing this answer to Autumn Wind.
Ah, as expected. Ever since the two came out of the Toilet, Autumn Wind had sensed something strange between them. What were they up to now?
She took deep breaths to calm herself down. Perhaps it was nothing; just work-related matters—nothing to worry about!
While she was self-soothing, Qiu Hai opened the car door and sat beside Autumn Wind, letting out a long sigh and waving at Old Cheng to start driving.
Despite Autumn Wind repeatedly telling herself not to be curious about their conversation, she couldn't help but ask, "What were you two talking about?"
"Are you asking about me and Liu Jian? It was nothing! He invited me to play golf! Wow, it’s been such a long time since I last played golf!" Qiu Hai said with excitement.
Golf? The relationship between Qiu Mowen and Liu Jian also started with golf. Could it be that Liu Jian has some plans again…
