"Ah, um!" Upon hearing Qiu Hai ask about Autumn Wind, the waiter was startled, his voice trembling slightly. "Yes, here!"
"Is she alone?" Qiu Hai opened his wallet again, taking out a stack of cash and waving it in front of the waiter.
"No!" The waiter reached out to grab the money from Qiu Hai's hand, but Qiu Hai quickly pulled back, missing the grab.
"Which room is she in? Who is she with?" Qiu Hai asked, glancing sideways at the waiter while lightly shaking the money in his hand.
The waiter turned around, pointed to a room across the way, and lowered his voice. "With Huang Zihe, and another person who looks like an assistant!"
"Huang Zihe? The one from Idol Group Y?" Qiu Hai gasped. "Is there anyone else?"
The waiter's face turned a bit red. He looked around cautiously and leaned closer to Qiu Hai, whispering, "According to our Boss, when they leave, there will be Paparazzi taking pictures..."
Understanding the situation from the waiter's words, Qiu Hai stuffed the money into the waiter's hand. "When Sister Qiu leaves, let me know! Understand?"
"Yes!" The waiter tucked the money into his pocket, responding nervously.
With a serious expression, Qiu Hai turned and walked into the private room, shutting the door firmly behind him.
He had hoped to find a quiet spot; after much deliberation, he chose this place only to discover that Autumn Wind was here. What should he do now? Qiu Hai felt conflicted.
He remembered the incident that had happened here a long time ago. He must not let Liu Jian see Autumn Wind with that Huang Zihe.
Qiu Hai pressed his lips together, putting on a relaxed facade as he approached the table.
Sitting at the table was Liu Jian, who had already ordered food. "I ordered for you too!" His tone was somewhat choked.
"Thank you!" Qiu Hai replied.
"You called me here for something?" Liu Jian looked up, his expression alert. He was certain that Qiu Hai had chosen this Western restaurant for a specific reason.
"Is your tone so stiff?" Qiu Hai sneered, "Can't we just gather casually?"
Liu Jian let out a cold snort, "Chairman, are you this bored? I see the company's schedule; your work has been packed lately!"
"No matter how busy we are, we should still communicate..."
Qiu Hai's words were directly interrupted by Liu Jian, "What do you want?" Liu Jian was certain that Qiu Hai had called him out for a reason.
Liu Jian's confident tone surprised Qiu Hai, "Are you so sure I have something to discuss with you?"
Liu Jian remained silent.
"Alright, it's about a position in the company. I want to invite Autumn Wind and Sister Qiu to work..."
"What do you mean by that?" Qiu Hai's words were once again interrupted by Liu Jian, "Personnel appointments are handled by the HR department. Besides, I'm the general manager now. If the group needs someone, I can make the decision without bothering you, Chairman!"
Qiu Hai rested his arm on the table, "Hey, Liu Jian, isn't your reaction a bit too intense? I was just speaking casually; no need to overreact!"
Qiu Hai glanced at Liu Jian and continued, "As the Second Largest Shareholder of the group, I believe Sister Qiu needs to know about the group's development... Rather than her bringing it up later, why not take the initiative? Moreover..."
Qiu Hai paused deliberately, "Besides, haven't you always hoped for Sister Qiu to come back to your side?"
Liu Jian didn't expect Qiu Hai to say such a thing; his eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Qiu Hai.
"Don't be so shocked; I'm just stating facts. If I had to choose between Autumn Wind and Jolie as a partner, I think I would also choose Sister Qiu!"
"That's because Jolie is your sister!" Qiu Hai clarified, but Liu Jian did not acknowledge it.
"Alright, you can think that way..." A hint of cunning appeared in Qiu Hai's eyes. "If Sister Qiu and I were together, then we would hold fifty-five percent of the company's shares. At that time..."
Qiu Hai did not back down; he provocatively looked at Liu Jian.
"What do you mean by that?" Liu Jian slammed his hand on the table, stood up, and leaned towards Qiu Hai.
"Think whatever you want about my intentions, but I still hope to invite Autumn Wind to the company! That's what I want today!" Qiu Hai turned his head away, ignoring Liu Jian, and pressed the button beside the table to call for service.
Seeing that Qiu Hai was directly ignoring him, Liu Jian slowly slid back into his seat. He carefully considered every word Qiu Hai had just said. Qiu Hai would also choose Autumn Wind. What does that mean?!
Liu Jian opened his mouth in shock and glared at Qiu Hai. "You mean you want to pursue Autumn Wind!"
Another cold laugh followed. "I haven't said anything; think whatever you like..."
"Ding dong," the delivery bell rang from the corner. Qiu Hai got up and picked up his meal. "I'm going to start eating; you do as you please!"
Liu Jian's fist slammed heavily on the table. Instead of grabbing his meal as Qiu Hai expected, he picked up his belongings and walked toward the door.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Qiu Hai put down his knife and fork, reaching out to pull Liu Jian. He caught him before he could open the booth door. "I was just joking; why take it so seriously!"
Liu Jian ignored Qiu Hai, pushing him aside and reaching for the door.
Qiu Hai pushed his hand away. "We've already ordered; won't it be a bit wasteful if you don't finish?"
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Qiu, but I have no appetite. If there's nothing else, I'm leaving!" Liu Jian said with a serious expression.
"Don't! It's rare for us to have dinner alone like this; why not give me some face?" This tone was not typical of Qiu Hai. His only purpose was to keep Liu Jian from leaving, fearing that he might run into Autumn Wind outside.
At that moment, however, Qiu Hai felt a bit conflicted. He also hoped that Liu Jian would encounter Autumn Wind. The more intense their conflict became, the better it would be for him.
While Qiu Hai was lost in thought, Liu Jian had already pushed his arm aside, opened the booth door, and stepped out.
Qiu Hai turned around in panic, the scene before him was completely out of his control.
Autumn Wind walked out of the booth across from him with a smile, and behind her was a face that could drive all women crazy—Huang Zihe.
Qiu Hai clearly saw Liu Jian's originally serious face turn angry; his hands clenched into fists, his body rigidly standing in the corridor.
Autumn Wind also did not expect Liu Jian to appear, her brilliant smile froze in shock, and her gaze shifted to Qiu Hai, the surprise turning into fear.
Autumn Wind's heart was pounding.
At that moment, Huang Zihe also noticed Autumn Wind's change. "What's wrong?" Huang Zihe raised his head to look ahead, recognizing that the man standing stiffly in front of Autumn Wind was Liu Jian.
He reached out, wanting to greet Liu Jian.
"Hey, what's wrong with you guys? Let's go!" The last one standing, Hai, spoke up. His view was blocked by the tall Huang Zihe. "Why aren't you moving?" He pushed Huang Zihe hard.
With Hai's push, Huang Zihe bumped into Autumn Wind, the force not strong but enough to make Autumn Wind lose her balance and lean forward uncontrollably.
Qiu Hai closed the door and turned around, intending to ease the awkward situation, but saw a body lunging toward him. Before he could react, Autumn Wind's soft chest pressed against his own, her tender lips kissing his chin.
As her lips touched Qiu Hai's chin, Autumn Wind felt the air freeze instantly!
"Ah!" A woman's scream came from the other end of the corridor, followed by a series of camera clicks.
The one who screamed was Yu, who had rushed over to help, and the camera sounds were naturally from gossip reporters called over by her manager.
In a panic, Autumn Wind bounced away from Qiu Hai, instinctively covering her mouth with her hands.
Her eyes darted over to Liu Jian, whose face had turned a deep crimson red, as if it would burst at any moment.
Qiu Hai was also stunned by the scene before him, turning into a wooden figure just like Liu Jian.
"Hey, what happened!" Hai finally squeezed out from behind Huang Zihe, looking innocent and confused. He gently tapped Huang Zihe's arm, "Ahe, what’s going on? The atmosphere feels off!"
Hearing this from Hai, Huang Zihe felt a mix of amusement and helplessness. Not knowing what to say, he chuckled awkwardly a few times and walked up to Liu Jian, extending his hand, "Hello, Mr. Liu!"
Liu Jian bit his lower lip, lifting his head with a bleak expression. A cold smile crept onto his lips as he did not take Huang Zihe's hand but instead stared at Autumn Wind.
Liu Jian knew that Autumn Wind and Huang Zihe had met after they started dating. If she could forget about their relationship, then how could she remember Huang Zihe? The only explanation was that Autumn Wind had not lost her memory at all!
She just wanted to break off our engagement! Liu Jian looked at Autumn Wind in despair, his lips trembling slightly before finally speaking, "You remember him, why don’t you remember me…"
His accusation touched on something Autumn Wind had been unwilling to face. She couldn’t meet Liu Jian’s gaze and lowered her head to look at the ground.
Finally, Yu woke up from her wooden state. Clacking in high heels, she pushed past Liu Jian, who was standing in front of Autumn Wind.
Then she placed her hands on Autumn Wind’s shoulders and shook her gently, "Are you okay? What just happened?"
Autumn Wind forced a smile and murmured, "I don’t know what happened either!"
"Hey, is he a reporter?" Hai pointed at a man with a camera hanging around his neck who was walking toward the stairs.
Upon hearing this, everyone’s eyes turned to the man. Ahe quickly stepped in front of him, blocking his way.
"What do you want? If you keep this up, I’ll call the police!" The man said with an air of righteousness. "Step aside!"
Hearing this, Ahe looked up at Autumn Wind, seeking guidance on how to handle the situation. Taking advantage of Ahe's distraction, the man suddenly dashed down the stairs.
Ahe immediately turned to chase after him.
"No need!" Autumn Wind's voice came through, as she had already gotten used to being photographed.
She lifted her head and said to the fish, who was swaying back and forth, "You crow, you really got it right this time. I didn't expect it to be this exciting! Even I find it a bit terrifying!"
"You still have the energy to laugh!" Autumn Wind's self-deprecation prompted the fish to sway even harder. The fish's peripheral vision caught sight of Liu Jian and couldn't help but ask, "What is he doing here? Oh, and him too!" The fish also noticed Qiu Hai.
Autumn Wind did not respond to the fish. She wriggled free from its grasp, turned around, and looked at Huang Zihe. "It seems like I might bring you some trouble! Be prepared for your agent to scold you!"
Autumn Wind's gaze was sincere, causing Huang Zihe's heart to tighten involuntarily. Perhaps it was this kind of gaze that made Li Gu like her!
Huang Zihe thought to himself and then gently shook his head. "It's fine!"
"Alright then, I'll be on my way!" Autumn Wind dared not look at Liu Jian and had no courage to face Qiu Hai. She waved goodbye to Huang Zihe and walked towards the stairs with Yu Chao.
Uncle Liu had already parked the car at the front door. Seeing Autumn Wind and the others come out, he got out of the car to open the door for them.
Once inside the car, Autumn Wind let out a long sigh. She lightly tapped the fish's arm. "It seems like this Western restaurant is not meant for me; something goes wrong every time I come here!"
The fish chuckled softly, "If you were an artist, you might actually like it here; your exposure would increase significantly!"
"Is that so?" Autumn Wind murmured, suddenly remembering that the reporter earlier seemed to be involved in exposing her relationship with Qiu Ruolan.
