Neihu, Wang Shaowu Law Firm.
Ahe accompanied Yu into Wang Shaowu Law Firm. After explaining their purpose, staff members immediately took the two to Wang Shaowu's office.
Liu Jian sat dejectedly at his desk, his cheeks sunken and dark circles under his eyes, looking as if he hadn't slept in a long time.
When Yu pushed the door open, Liu Jian thought it was Autumn Wind. He jumped up from his chair, but when he realized it was Yu who entered, he slumped back down weakly.
Ahe followed Yu into Wang Shaowu's office. Yu scanned the room and, noticing that only Wang Shaowu and Liu Jian were present, signaled for Ahe to wait outside.
Yu controlled her emotions and slowly walked to the desk, sitting down in the chair next to Liu Jian.
She glanced sideways at Liu Jian, sneering, "Looking like this, are you still waiting for someone to pity you?"
Liu Jian's eyes were somewhat dazed as he forced himself to look at Yu. "Where's Autumn Wind? Why didn't she come?"
As Yu was taking out Autumn Wind's power of attorney and related documents, she coldly scoffed upon hearing Liu Jian mention her. "You still have the nerve to ask about Autumn Wind! Don't you know that a woman needs to rest for a month after a miscarriage?"
Yu's words left Liu Jian speechless. His dim gaze became even more blurred, like a lamp about to go out.
Noticing the subtle tension in the atmosphere, Wang Shaowu quickly stepped in to ease the situation. He cleared his throat and said, "Hey, let's not do this. Since Autumn Wind isn't here, let's proceed according to her power of attorney..."
Wang Shaowu picked up the power of attorney written by Autumn Wind, reading it carefully. "This is no different from what Jaes mentioned! Then let's sign this agreement; any future occurrences will be based on this!"
Wang Shaowu took out an agreement and handed it to both Yu and Liu Jian.
Being cautious, Yu read through it word by word, paying close attention. Meanwhile, Liu Jian had already picked up a pen and signed it.
The content of the agreement was simply to dissolve the marriage contract, with Liu Jian compensating Autumn Wind a sum of money. As for the car that Liu Zhiyuan gave to Autumn Wind, it still belonged to Autumn Wind...
Seeing Liu Jian had signed, Fish picked up the pen to sign as well.
After Fish handed back the signed agreement to Wang Shaowu, Liu Jian stood up, supporting himself on the chair. "Wu Ge, there shouldn't be any issues now. I'm going to pack my things!"
His voice was ethereal, like a cloud floating lightly in the air.
With that, Liu Jian staggered toward the door and closed the office door with a "bang."
"Is he really that upset?" Fish Duo expressed confusion at Liu Jian's demeanor.
"What? Do you think Liu Jian would be happy?" Wang Shaowu retorted.
"Shouldn't he be happy? With the marriage contract dissolved with Autumn Wind, he can go out and indulge freely..." Fish continued to mock.
"Why do you think that way too?" Wang Shaowu frowned, speaking in a tone that reflected a sense of injustice for Qiu Mowen.
Wang Shaowu truly couldn't understand where Qiu Ruolan and Jiang Yu's intense hatred for Liu Jian came from. If he remembered correctly, when Autumn Wind and Liu Jian got engaged, it was Qiu Ruolan and Jiang Yu who were the happiest...
In just a blink of an eye, how had their resentment grown so large?
"You all really dislike him now..." Wang Shaowu organized the agreement and placed it in a folder, asking Fish slowly.
"Dislike? Does he deserve our dislike?" Fish's tone still revealed disdain. "People like him should be thrown into the sea to feed the fish. A woman is pregnant and yet does such a thing... Ah, poor Autumn Wind, her child is gone!"
Wang Shaowu wanted to explain something on behalf of Liu Jian, but Fish's eyes, filled with strong disgust, made him swallow his words.
"Alright, let's not talk about Liu Jian for now! Sally called me, are you coming to get the relevant information about Ervin in HK?"
"Yes!" Upon hearing Wang Shaowu's words, Yu immediately pulled herself away from her feelings of disgust towards Liu Jian. "Sister Sally asked me to find you!"
Wang Shaowu took out two stacks of documents from under the table. "This is some information regarding Ervin's later stages, when Liu Jian was his legal advisor. As for the documents from when I was his legal advisor, I've had my secretary organize them. You can just ask my secretary for them when you leave!"
"Liu Jian was Ervin's legal advisor?" Yu's previously submerged disgust resurfaced on her face. "I can't believe Ervin trusted him so much; he treated Autumn Wind like this..."
Yu couldn't help but recall the touching moment during the engagement when Qiu Mowen handed Autumn Wind's hand to Liu Jian, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.
Wang Shaowu's secretary called in on the intercom, "Lawyer Wang, your scheduled guest has arrived. When would be a good time for you to meet with them..."
Yu naturally heard the secretary's words. She stood up, picked up the two stacks of documents, and softly said, "Then Wu Ge, I won't disturb you any longer..."
Wang Shaowu responded to Yu with a glance. He saw Yu Chao walking out and pressed the intercom again to his secretary: "Please help me give Sister Jiang the documents I organized yesterday..."
As soon as Yu stepped out of Wang Shaowu Law Firm, she saw Ahe sitting upright on the sofa. Just as she was about to walk over, Wang Shaowu's secretary stepped forward: "Sister Jiang, all the documents you requested are over here, please follow me!"
Ahe looked up and their eyes met. Yu Chao threw a flirtatious glance at Ahe and beckoned with his finger.
Ahe stood up like a fish caught on a hook and walked briskly toward Yu.
Yu turned and walked toward Wang Shaowu's secretary while Ahe closely followed behind her.
"These are all the documents organized by Lawyer Wang!" The secretary pointed to a huge cardboard box in the corner.
"So many!" Yu bent down and picked up the topmost book. Wow, Autumn Wind certainly has a lot to study.
"Put these on the car!" Yu said, and casually placed two stacks of documents she had just taken from Wang Shaowu's office on top.
Then she walked towards the elevator, and Ahe obediently picked up the box, following behind Yu.
While they were waiting for the elevator, Liu Jian also came out of the office holding a cardboard box.
His eyes were dull, and he exuded an air of despair. Yu squinted at the man in a finely tailored suit who nevertheless gave off a disheveled vibe. It seemed directed at Ahe, but also like he was talking to himself: "I can't believe there are still people like this in the world. Clearly hurting others, yet acting like they're the victim!"
Hearing Yu's mocking tone, Liu Jian's eyelids lifted slightly. "Are you talking about me?" His voice was terrifying, like a hungry wolf howling in the night.
"Who are you? Why should I care about you?" Yu did not expect Liu Jian to respond. Upon hearing his voice, her tone became even sharper.
"Someone like you doesn't deserve to be human! A woman gets pregnant and still goes around messing around. Fine, do what you want, but then you come crawling back..." Yu turned around and stepped closer to Liu Jian, pointing her finger at his chest.
"Someone like you should be cut off from having descendants. Don't think Autumn Wind is easy to bully..."
Liu Jian's face darkened further, clouded like a stormy sky. Ahe secretly worried for Yu, fearing that if Liu Jian lost his temper, he might strike her.
Yu remained oblivious to Liu Jian's increasingly grim expression and continued to defend Autumn Wind, spewing every vicious word she could think of at Liu Jian. "You're nothing but scum! Have you forgotten how you promised Qiu Mowen at the engagement party?"
"Well, now that Qiu Mowen is dead, your promises have changed. I heard you've gotten shares in HK5; if Qiu Mowen had any sense, he would have struck you down with a lightning bolt..."
"Alright, enough! I'm just scum; I'm just trash..." Liu Jian suddenly roared.
Mentioning Qiu Mowen struck a nerve deep within Liu Jian. The image of Qiu Mowen's bloodied face, trembling voice, and earnest plea hit him hard.
The cardboard box in Liu Jian's hands fell to the ground with a crash. He was like a wounded beast in rage, clenching his fists and striking out violently.
Yuyin thought Liu Jian was going to hit him and let out a scream, but then she heard a loud "thud" as Liu Jian's fist struck a piece of glass cabinet that had not yet been installed next to the elevator door.
The shattered glass cut Liu Jian's arm, with a shard embedded in his wrist artery. Blood gushed out instantly, and Liu Jian's face turned red as he pleaded in a voice that was almost desperate, "I know I have wronged Autumn Wind. Can you help me tell her to give me another chance?"
Despair, sorrow, and pain flickered across Liu Jian's face, twisting his originally handsome features.
Yuyin was so startled by Liu Jian's sudden action that she couldn't say a word. Watching the blood dripping from Liu Jian onto the floor made her feel dizzy, and she staggered back a step.
Ahe quickly stepped forward, using her body to block Yuyin's retreat.
The staff at the office rushed out upon hearing the loud noise. Wang Shaowu pushed through the crowd and reached Liu Jian's side. While administering first aid to Liu Jian, he instructed his subordinates to call for an ambulance.
"It's okay, it's okay. Just relax, Liu Jian," he comforted Liu Jian gently.
Liu Jian's once dim eyes had lost all sparkle, and his lips trembled as if he wanted something.
Wang Shaowu leaned down closer to Liu Jian's mouth and asked, "What do you want?"
"Tell Autumn Wind... give me... give me one more chance, please!" Liu Jian's voice was weak and intermittent.
Hearing Liu Jian's words twisted Wang Shaowu's heart. He admitted that when he learned about Autumn Wind's car accident and the situation with Liu Jian and Jolie, he had indeed felt an impulse to tear Liu Jian apart.
However, during the days when Qiu Ruolan hid Autumn Wind away, he witnessed Liu Jian's despair and self-reproach firsthand. He could deeply understand the look on Liu Jian’s face as he tried to win back Autumn Wind.
"Okay, I'll help you pass on the message. Just relax; you'll be fine!" Wang Shaowu reassured him.
The paramedics arrived quickly, provided basic treatment for Liu Jian, and then lifted him onto the ambulance.
After Liu Jian left, Wang Shaowu quickly dialed Yao Lizhen's phone and told her the address of the hospital, "He is very emotionally unstable; you should go take care of him!"
Yao Lizhen was a bit surprised when she received Wang Shaowu's call. She replied, "Are you sure it's Liu Jian and not Autumn Wind? What could happen to that heartless man?"
Wang Shaowu didn't expect Yao Lizhen to have such a harsh attitude towards Liu Jian. Even though his emotions were already heightened, he still tried to control himself and gritted his teeth, saying, "Liu Jian, National Hospital!" Then he hung up the phone.
Yü woke from her earlier shock and glanced at the blood Liu Jian had left on the floor, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Yü's expression completely enraged Wang Shaowu. He kicked the cardboard box Liu Jian had left on the ground and shouted, "Why do you all have to treat him this way? Have you seen how hard he has worked these past few days? Why can't you give him a chance to make amends..."
Wang Shaowu's furious demeanor left Yü in a daze; she stared blankly at this man known for his calmness.
Wang Shaowu soon realized he had overreacted. Turning his back to Yü, he took a deep breath and bent down to pick up the cardboard box he had just kicked over.
He returned to the office holding Liu Jian's cardboard box.
