Xiang Xueer couldn't help but shake her head with a smile. Qingtian scratched his head, looking embarrassed. "Oh, Duck, I'm really not as great as you say."
Upon hearing Qingtian's words, Duck exploded in frustration. "Qingtian, have you lost your mind? I wasn't praising you, you idiot!"
Sighing, Xiang Xueer thought to herself that Duck was just like Li Yunyang; he couldn't go a day without causing a ruckus. Suddenly, she felt a pang of pain in her heart: where could Li Yunyang be at this moment?
Forget it, she couldn't think about him. That fool actually left with his master. She turned to the chaotic crowd and noticed there was no sense of urgency at all. She went over to grab Duck. "Alright, enough already! Let's get moving!"
Suddenly, a rumbling sound echoed from the horizon, followed by a burst of flames shooting into the sky and then a flurry of white snowflakes began to fall. Xiang Xueer looked up in surprise at the snowflakes drifting down and exclaimed, "What's going on? It suddenly started snowing?"
The others also looked up at the swirling snowflakes. Although it was December and snowfall was normal, the sudden onset of snow was indeed strange.
Xiang Xueer reached out to catch a snowflake in her hand; the cold sensation confirmed it was real. She gazed into the distance when Lan Ran Qingtian quickly approached her side. "It seems this snowfall is artificial!"
"Yeah!" Xiang Xueer turned to exchange a knowing glance with Qingtian, and they both moved forward together. "Looks like two experts are having a showdown!"
Ling Zhu, Fat Ancestor, Gunaara, and Duck followed closely behind them. As they got closer, the snowfall intensified to the point where it became difficult to see the path ahead.
Xiang Xueer vaguely sensed the presence of Fire Rat and immediately stopped in her tracks. Turning to the others behind her, she said, "It's too dangerous ahead. Qingtian and I will go take a look. Fat Master, you all stay here and guard the artifact!"
"Okay! Don't worry!" Fat Ancestor assured her with a pat on his chest but then turned serious as he looked at Xiang Xueer. "Be careful! If I'm not mistaken, Fire Rat is up ahead."
It seemed Fat Ancestor sensed it too. But if one of them was Fire Rat, who could his opponent be? Xiang Xueer and Qingtian turned and stepped into the blinding blizzard when suddenly the ground shook violently. A massive Ice Pillar several meters in diameter shot up from the ground into the sky.
Xiang Xueer looked up at the enormous Ice Pillar, wondering who possessed such skills to manipulate ice so expertly. Just as she was feeling astonished, a cracking sound echoed from the center of the Ice Pillar.
A burst of red flames erupted from within the Ice Pillar, and with a loud boom, it shattered completely from the inside out, sending shards of ice flying in all directions.
“Be careful!” Lan Ran Qingtian quickly pulled Xiang Xueer into his arms and turned to hide behind a large pine tree's trunk. Once the explosion subsided, she cautiously peeked out from his embrace.
On the ground, long Ice Pillars pierced through like blades, leaving the surface riddled with holes. The pine tree behind them was covered in ice shards, resembling a porcupine.
The blizzard began to dissipate, revealing a clear scene ahead. The two hurried forward, stunned by what lay before them.
They saw a massive pit in the ground, covered by a thick layer of ice, resembling a giant skating rink. Above the icy surface on the left was a frozen humanoid figure, ice chunks falling off as its face gradually became visible. The red flames surrounding it made it clear to both of them: “It’s definitely the Fire Rat.”
But who was the other person? Their eyes slowly shifted to the right, where another enormous oval Ice Pillar encased an individual tightly frozen within, making it impossible to identify who it was.
Suddenly, Lan Ran Qingtian recalled something and felt a jolt of alarm. He grasped Xiang Xueer’s arm tightly and looked at her with a serious expression: “Shirley, I know who our opponent is.”
“Who is it?” This was Xiang Xueer’s first encounter with someone who could manipulate ice, and she was eager to learn the identity of their adversary. However, Lan Ran Qingtian hesitated for a moment, which made her anxious: “What’s wrong? Why are you being so vague? This isn’t like you!”
Lan Ran Qingtian knew that Xiang Xueer had a very poor relationship with her father. He had witnessed it firsthand; Ouyang Zhentian never treated her like his daughter. Moreover, given her awkward situation and the presence of Witch magic within her body, there was no guarantee that father and daughter wouldn’t end up in a deadly confrontation if they met.
Perhaps it was better for her not to see him. As Lan Ran Qingtian thought this, he pulled her to turn away and leave. This left Xiang Xueer puzzled: “What’s going on? Qingtian, where are you taking me?”
“It’s too dangerous here, Shirley. We should leave!” Qingtian focused solely on getting her away when suddenly a man’s roar echoed from the icy surface: “Ah!”
In an instant, the frozen moment shattered, and Ouyang Zhentian let out a furious roar as he burst forth from the ice. Gripping the Golden Silk Great Ring Blade, he shouted at the Fire Rat in front of him, "Hmph, Fire Rat, if you have the guts, let's fight for another three hundred rounds!"
After fighting for a long time, neither of them had gained the upper hand. The Fire Rat couldn't help but become even more excited; if it were an ordinary opponent, it wouldn't be as thrilling. Only by defeating someone like this could it feel a true sense of accomplishment.
Xiang Xueer's brows suddenly twitched. Hearing a sound from below, she turned to look beneath the ice and her expression darkened instantly. No wonder Qingtian wanted to pull me away; it turns out the opponent is that damned man.
"Hey!" Lan Ran Qingtian reluctantly released her hand. The worst thing he feared had happened. He quietly observed the changes in Xiang Xueer's facial expression and saw that she was indeed furious.
Hmph! Xiang Xueer snorted coldly. The life and death of that scoundrel have nothing to do with me. It would be best if that Fire Rat took care of him quickly so I wouldn't have to intervene myself. She cast a disdainful glance at Ouyang Zhentian and turned to leave, but suddenly stopped in her tracks and reached for her Azure Wind Sword behind her.
She remembered the bet made back at the Ouyang Family: if she could obtain the Azure Wind Sword, he would willingly give up his position as head of the Ouyang Clan. Even if he didn't relinquish it today, she would still humiliate him thoroughly!
Having thought this through, Xiang Xueer happily sat down on a nearby stone wall, fully adopting the posture of someone enjoying a Roman gladiatorial show. Then she raised her hand and shouted, "Hey, Fire Rat, don’t slack off! If you can’t even defeat this kind of trash, how can you call yourself one of the New Four Demon Generals?"
Upon hearing the voice from above, both fighters turned their heads. Ouyang Zhentian focused his gaze and realized that the one who had just shouted was none other than his daughter: Ouyang Jiaorong.
Standing next to her was Lan Ran Qingtian. What on earth was going on? Although he had heard rumors before that Ouyang Jiaorong's third daughter had entered the Demonic Path and had long since become a subordinate of the Demon Lord, he felt furious. If he encountered this girl who disgraced their family name, he would definitely clean up the Ouyang Clan's image. But what was Qingtian doing with her?
The Fire Rat was also surprised by the sudden appearance of these two people. It seemed that Xiang Xueer was following Ouyang Zhentian as father and daughter. If they were a normal father-daughter pair, they would surely rush forward to help him fight against it. Yet this girl was there cheering against him; what was going on? Could it be a trick?
