"What is it?" Lian Cheng Xue reached out to touch her face, turning to glance at Li Yunyang with a strange expression. Her face immediately turned even greener. "Wow, Brother Li, what happened to your face? Why has it turned green?"
Li Yunyang turned to look at Lian Cheng Xue, and both of their faces looked as green as cucumbers, with dark circles under their eyes, suggesting they might be poisoned.
Ling Zhu pointed at the two and burst into laughter. "Oh my, this is so funny! Your faces are so green, just like spinach."
At that moment, while still laughing, Xiang Xueer turned to look at Ling Zhu and sighed. "Stop laughing at others; your face isn't any better."
"No way!" The three quickly rushed to the riverbank and stared at their reflections in the clear water for a while, all confused. Fat Ancestor reached down to scoop up some water and sniffed it. "Colorless and tasteless, but I think the algae in the river might be toxic!"
As he spoke, he pointed at a few strands of green algae exposed on the riverbank. The fat man looked at Xiang Xueer in confusion. "You all drank the water, but why are you fine while these three are poisoned?"
Indeed, they all drank from the same water source, yet everyone else was poisoned while she was unharmed. It felt a bit strange; could it be because she had magical power that made her immune to toxins? That seemed a bit too incredible.
In the blink of an eye, Li Yunyang's stomach churned, his face turned pale as he began to vomit. Lian Cheng Xue and Ling Zhu were in the same state. She hurried over to him, holding him and feeling his forehead, which was burning hot—he seemed to have a fever.
"Hey, Li Yunyang, how are you?" Xiang Xueer frowned with concern. It was unbelievable that drinking a little water could lead to collective poisoning; she wondered if there was even a doctor around in this place.
"Ah, I'm fine; I should be okay!" Li Yunyang struggled to get up, his voice trembling. Even though he insisted he was fine, Xiang Xueer sighed and turned to look ahead. "I'll go check if there's a village or something nearby. Fat Ancestor, can you stay here and watch over them?"
"Alright, but be careful!" the fat man advised. Xiang Xueer then left the creek with reassurance and walked forward into the dense Tropical Rainforest where various snakes and lizards perched on the tree trunks. She couldn't help but wonder: "This looks like an uninhabited oasis; could it really be deserted?"
Suddenly, a black figure darted past her from behind with movements as swift as a beast's. It caught her attention immediately. Xiang Xueer quickly stopped in her tracks and reached for her Azure Wind Sword behind her.
What was that? A monster? She furrowed her brows.
A flash of light caught her eye as an object darted towards her in the sunlight. Xiang Xueer quickly stepped aside and reached out to catch it.
Upon closer inspection, she realized it was a concealed weapon made from the bone of an unknown animal. The weapon was about the length of her palm, with an exceptionally sharp tip, and green liquid dripped from the front end of the bone.
It seemed that the shadow's target was her. However, this weapon looked rather strange, resembling something used by indigenous people in a television drama to hunt large animals.
When Xiang Xueer turned to look in the direction from which the weapon had come, there was no sign of anyone; the movement had been so swift it was almost ghostly. Yet, she could confirm one thing: there were indeed people living in this area.
Feeling a sense of worry, Xiang Xueer turned back to the riverbank to check on Li Yunyang and the others. To her surprise, all three of them had vanished without a trace.
"No, it can't be!" A drop of sweat trickled down her forehead. It was one thing for Fat Ancestor to be missing, but Li Yunyang and the others were poisoned and could barely move—how could they just disappear?
She hurried over to search for clues and soon noticed numerous footprints on the ground, varying in size and all barefoot.
Xiang Xueer furrowed her brow as she followed the footprints. However, she hadn't gone far before she spotted a familiar figure ahead.
Hmm? She squinted and peered from behind a tree. The person wore a green long robe and seemed to be searching for something. As he turned slightly, his green pupils surprised Xiang Xueer: "Isn't that Lizard Spirit? What is he doing here?"
Could it be that he was behind this? The thought made veins bulge on her forehead. Drawing her Azure Wind Sword, she leaped forward to strike at Lizard Spirit.
Lizard Spirit immediately sensed the intense Killing Intent behind him and swiftly prepared to defend himself. However, before he could react, Xiang Xueer slashed at his arm, drawing blood. Before he could recover, she kicked him back several steps.
"Lizard Spirit, hand over Li Yunyang and the others!" Xiang Xueer pointed her Azure Wind Sword directly at his nose, her Killing Intent surging uncontrollably as her red eyes glared at him.
Lizard Spirit covered his wounded arm with his hand, feeling intense pain. His expression shifted to one of shock as he saw Xiang Xueer's red eyes and the Azure Wind Sword in her hand. His face darkened: "It's you?"
Xiang Xueer scanned the surroundings with her eyes but did not see any sign of Li Yunyang and the others. It seemed that there was nowhere to hide here. Was this guy sneaking around in this place for the Ancient Five Divine Artifacts?
The Lizard Spirit was relieved not to see Xiang Xueer, but upon seeing her, resentment filled his heart: "It's all your fault. If it weren't for you, Jing Yue wouldn't have lost her magic and become so foolish."
Jing Yue? She came out of the Luring Demon Pot? The fat guy told me about it too. But that woman infused magic into her own body; could it be that her soul was impacted, causing her to become dazed? Xiang Xueer felt a bit confused and decided not to think about it anymore.
"Did you kidnap Li Yunyang?" Xiang Xueer slowly approached, her red pupils rapidly constricting. Right now, I don't have the patience to waste time with you.
What Li Yunyang? The Lizard Spirit blamed all the troubles on Xiang Xueer because of Jing Yue, igniting the flames of battle between them without any room for further discussion. They would speak with their strength first.
"Since you refuse to speak, I'll take care of you first and then force you to talk!" Xiang Xueer pointed her sword, and the gleaming blade of the Azure Wind Sword was already enveloped in powerful sword energy.
"Exorcism Essence: Exorcism Sword of Soul Locking!" A fierce wind whipped up, causing Xiang Xueer's hair to fly wildly as she charged towards the Lizard Spirit, slashing fiercely. Red flames began to surge forth, accompanied by chains that lunged at the Lizard Spirit.
Xiang Xueer had only practiced the Five-Character Formula until now, but since becoming a demon, its power had multiplied several times over. The manifestation of the chains had also become a weapon; with a sweep of her sword, she could bind her opponent tightly.
Now, Xiang Xueer was no longer the useless third miss she once was. With magic at her disposal and the Azure Wind Sword in hand, how many people in this world could match her? Naturally, dealing with the Lizard Spirit was even less of a challenge.
The Lizard Spirit was initially shocked; he never expected to be tightly bound by her chains. He struggled slightly, but it seemed that the more he fought against them, the tighter they became. Meanwhile, that previous attack had ignited the surrounding forest, and soon a raging fire began to spread.
Xiang Xueer narrowed her eyes and took a few steps closer to the Lizard Spirit, coldly asking again: "Tell me where Li Yunyang and the others are?"
