"This is her original form!" The Lizard Spirit turned to look at the Witch Jingyue inside the Ice Pillar, his eyes filled with tenderness and affection. "I never expected that the Demon Lord would seal her body in this Millennium Ice."
Millennium Ice? Xiang Xueer stood up and walked toward the ice, staring at the immobile figure of the Witch, which resembled a sculpture. Suddenly, she felt a chill that pierced deeper than the ice itself.
"Achoo!" She sneezed and touched her cold arm. Turning her head toward the cave's exit, she recalled that when she was ambushed earlier, it couldn't have been this Lizard Spirit's doing. This meant that this fellow had an accomplice.
Xiang Xueer's eyes darted around as she quietly glanced at the entranced Lizard Spirit, who seemed too preoccupied to notice her. Holding her breath, she stealthily made her way toward the cave's entrance.
No wonder people say that those in love become oblivious; even with everyone gone, he still didn't realize it. Xiang Xueer chuckled to herself as she reached the cave's exit, only to be startled by the scene before her.
A broken suspension bridge, a rolling river of blood, and white bones piled up in the water—was this not the place she had visited in her dreams?
She looked up and confirmed it was indeed true; ahead was the Black Enchantment Tower. She never expected to find herself trapped in a cave near the Demon Prison Tower, while Witch Jingyue's body was sealed in a nearby cavern filled with Millennium Ice.
Furrowing her brows, she prepared to leave this cursed place. However, just as she turned around, a deep voice called out from behind her: "Stop! Where do you think you're going?"
Xiang Xueer turned around in shock to see a figure clad in a black cloak and wearing a Ghost Face Mask. With a sharp shout, he swiftly moved from behind her to block her path.
The man was of medium build; judging by his voice, he sounded like a middle-aged man. Although his face was hidden, he exuded an air of intimidation. Xiang Xueer cautiously took a step back and asked, "Who are you?"
The Mysterious Masked Man suddenly appeared, followed closely by the Lizard Spirit rushing out of the cave. Seeing the Masked Man blocking Xiang Xueer, he said, "Let's get started. Only you can melt that Millennium Ice so I can transport Jing Yue's soul into it!"
Xiang Xueer couldn't help but frown; so these two were acquainted. It went without saying that this strange man who knocked her out and brought her into the cave was none other than him.
As the Masked Man reached out to grab Xiang Xueer, she leaped aside to evade his attack. "Don't touch me," she warned. "Or else I won't go easy on you."
The Masked Man sneered and with a gust of wind at his feet, he pointed a finger at Xiang Xueer's forehead. "You'd better listen to me; otherwise, don't blame me if you get hurt."
Hmm? What’s going on? I can’t move? She opened her mouth again, unable to utter a sound. What kind of magic did this Masked Man use?
Before she could figure it out, the man lifted Xiang Xueer onto his shoulder and walked toward the cave with the Lizard Spirit: “Lizard Spirit, don’t forget what you promised me!”
“Don’t worry!” Lizard Spirit replied from behind, “As long as you get Jing Yue back into her own body, I will go through fire and water without hesitation!”
A cold smile crept across the corner of Masked Man's mouth. Looking at his smile felt like staring at a glinting dagger; what was this man really plotting? It sent chills down her spine.
Xiang Xueer was once again brought into the cold cave. The Masked Man threw her onto the hard ice surface with a thud, causing her to feel as if she had split in half, unable to scream; it was truly excruciating.
Then, the Masked Man approached the frozen pillar, took a deep breath, and placed his hands gently on the icy surface. Smoke began to rise from his palms, and the Millennium Ice slowly started to melt.
Lizard Spirit stood anxiously and excitedly to the side, staring intently at the melting Ice Pillar, a look of eager joy spreading across its face.
This was truly troublesome; if the Witch’s body melted from the Ice Pillar, it would indeed extract the Witch’s soul from within her. At that point, when the Witch was reborn, she would still be left with one outcome: death.
Meanwhile, Li Yunyang, Lan Ran Qingtian, Ling Zhu, and Duck finally reached the mountain peak. To their surprise, they stopped in their tracks upon seeing a broken rope bridge ahead and a flowing river of blood beneath them.
A strong stench assaulted their senses. Li Yunyang frowned: “Wow, it smells terrible! What kind of place is this?”
Lan Ran Qingtian pointed across the river at the distant Black Ancient Tower: “What else can I say? This is already the territory sealing the Demon Lord.”
“The rope bridge here is broken; even my sister wouldn’t be able to cross!” Duck began to panic. Just approaching this place made it shiver from the surrounding evil energy; even the wind felt chilling.
Ling Zhu shook his head and glanced down at the white skeletons piled below: “These are all people who wanted to enter the Ancient Tower, but they all died here.”
With a keen sense of smell, Li Yunyang felt dizzy from the overpowering stench. He turned around and urged everyone to leave: “Let’s go, let’s go! Shirley won’t come here.”
After taking a few steps, Li Yunyang wrinkled his nose and suddenly stopped. Duck turned to him, staring at his strange expression, and asked, "What's wrong? Did you step in something?"
Li Yunyang widened his eyes in surprise and sniffed the air again. "I think I smell Dead Girl's scent."
"What? Shirley?" Lan Ran Qingtian was startled. Normally, Li Yunyang had an excellent sense of smell. He turned to a few people and gestured for them not to disturb him.
Li Yunyang furrowed his brows and kept sniffing the air. Then he turned and walked quickly toward a hidden cave entrance around the corner. Suddenly, he stopped and pointed at the cave entrance, shouting, "This is it!"
Duck stared at the water flowing out of the cave and raised his duck foot to slap Li Yunyang on the backside. "You're really like a dog; your nose is too useful!"
"You’re the dog!" Li Yunyang glared at the cave entrance and exchanged a glance with Lan Ran Qingtian. He drew the Azure Dragon Sword, and they rushed into the cave one after the other.
"Someone's coming!" The Masked Man's eyes twitched slightly as he quickly stopped what he was doing and glanced toward the cave entrance. Due to time constraints, the Millennium Ice had only melted halfway, and Witch Jingyue remained frozen inside the Ice Pillar.
"Damn it, who is here to mess things up?" Lizard Spirit glared at the still-frozen Witch's body, cursing under his breath. Xiang Xueer sat on the ground, turning her head toward the cave entrance, secretly praying: It must be Li Yunyang; it must be Qingtian.
Sure enough, two familiar figures walked in. Xiang Xueer felt overjoyed and began to hum softly. When Li Yunyang turned around and spotted Xiang Xueer sitting on the ground, he shouted anxiously, "Dead Girl, what are you doing here? You really scared us!"
Wuwuwu, I can't speak! Damn it! Xiang Xueer sat there unable to move. Seeing this, Lan Ran Qingtian stepped forward and tapped her forehead. Immediately, she felt relieved and stood up, pointing at Lizard Spirit and the Masked Man. "Hurry up and stop them! These two are in cahoots; they want to revive the Witch!"
"What?" Li Yunyang and Qingtian cautiously stared at Lizard Spirit and the Masked Man. As for Lizard Spirit, that was one thing; but who exactly was this mysterious Masked Man?
