Following Qingtian's finger, Heart Demon headed south while Feng Qingyang seemed to have pursued Heart Demon. The Witch went west. After exchanging glances, they both set off toward the West.
At that moment on Sky Beyond Mountain's hillside, Duck was hanging upside down in mid-air, crying until dawn. Last night, the Witch had tied her up tightly and stuffed her mouth before dropping her onto a Tree Trunk, then walked away.
She initially thought that since the Witch didn't kill her, she had finally escaped with her life. However, she didn't expect that this wicked woman would hang her upside down on a Tree Trunk in this desolate place to fend for herself.
As if that wasn't bad enough, what made it worse was that several hungry wolves were waiting under the tree, drooling as they anticipated her falling down so they could devour her whole.
"Ahhh, why is my life so miserable!" Duck covered its mouth and began to cry loudly, its throat nearly breaking from the effort. There were no birds or people on this mountain, just wild beasts.
"Big sister, big sister, you can't treat me like this!" Duck thought of Xiang Xueer and couldn't help but cry again, singing through its tears: "Come back quickly, I can't bear it alone, come back and bring my little life back..."
Just then, Ling Zhu had searched her way to this area. Frowning, she listened for a while: "Strange, in this desolate mountain wilderness, how can someone be singing here?"
As she listened more closely, the voice sounded familiar; it seemed to be that shameless Duck. She hurried toward the sound and soon saw the foolish Duck stuck in a tree, crying and singing some incomprehensible tune. Below the tree crouched a few hungry wolves with their mouths wide open, waiting to eat the plump duck.
"Hmph, I thought you were killed and worried for nothing. I didn't expect you to be living quite well and even singing," Ling Zhu said, crossing her arms and leaning against the Tree Trunk with an annoyed expression.
Duck suddenly stopped its wailing and turned its head to finally notice Ling Zhu. It was overjoyed as if it had seen its mother: "Ah, Ling Zhu, are you the plump and charming Ling Zhu? That's great! Finally, someone has come to save me!"
This flatterer! Plump and charming indeed. Ling Zhu couldn't help but cover her mouth and laugh. However, the flattery felt quite nice. She raised her chin and asked, "Duck, it seems you're quite lucky; the Witch didn't kill you, and now someone has come to save you!"
"That's because I'm lucky! My mother calculated for me and said I have a fate of great wealth and nobility; how could I die so easily!" After boasting for a moment, Duck anxiously shouted: "Aren't you here to save me? Hurry up and get me down; my head is about to burst!"
Ling Zhu rolled her eyes. A Vine suddenly flew out from her sleeve, tightly binding the hungry wolves that were guarding below the tree. Then she walked over to untie the ropes binding Duck to the Tree Trunk.
"Ouch!" Duck cried out as it fell heavily to the ground, creating a large pit in the soft earth. It yelled in pain: "It hurts so much! You heartless woman, can't you be a little gentler?"
Ling Zhu's face darkened: "Stinky Duck, just now you praised me for being plump and charming; now you're calling me heartless? Say that again, and I'll let those wolves go and have them swallow you whole!"
Hearing this, Duck quickly scrambled up, rubbing its swollen head and pleading: "I was wrong! I was wrong! Forget what I said; you're still plump and charming!"
This ungrateful creature! Ling Zhu shook her head and took a few steps away before lowering her head with a heavy heart: "Duck, Lian Cheng Xue is dead!"
Duck's hand on his forehead suddenly stopped. After a moment, he replied with a voice full of regret, "I know, I was right there when Witch killed him. I'm really useless; I couldn't help at all!"
"It's not your fault!" Ling Zhu turned around and gently patted his head, comforting him instead. "You've already tried your best. Others may not know, but I do!"
A wave of sorrow washed over Duck, and he pouted, tears streaming down his face as he reached out to hug Ling Zhu's waist. "Wuwuwu, I knew it; you're the only one who understands me!"
Everyone criticized him for lacking dignity, running away whenever danger approached. However, he called Xiang Xueer "big sister" with unwavering loyalty. Previously, when faced with danger, he bravely stood in front of Serpent Empress. When Witch took over Xiang Xueer's body, he desperately held onto her to prevent her from leaving. Others didn't see this, but Ling Zhu witnessed it all.
Suddenly, Duck's eyes filled with tears as if he had found the one person who understood him best in time. He threw himself into her arms and cried uncontrollably, " Ling Zhu, you're the best to me!"
"Hey, hey, you stinky duck! Let go of me! Don't touch my chest, you damn little pervert!" Ling Zhu pushed him away irritably. "There's no time for your nonsense; we need to find Xiang Xueer quickly. She's in the most dangerous situation right now!"
Duck wiped away his tears and nodded vigorously, raising his small fist and shouting, "Don't worry! I'll protect big sister with my life!"
Thus, after rescuing Duck, Ling Zhu began to head towards the mountain peak with him, starting their search for Xiang Xueer.
Meanwhile, Witch finally evaded Feng Qingyang's pursuit and was now chasing after Heart Demon. She looked up at the sky and estimated that having run this far meant she was safe for now. Her next task was to eliminate the troublesome woman, Xiang Xueer.
She turned around and sat down on the ground, slowly closing her eyes as her soul began to return to this body. The two of them met once again.
"Hmph! Still sleeping? The world outside is in chaos, and she can still sleep soundly." Witch squinted at the tightly closed eyes of Xiang Xueer, extending her claws as she slowly approached her.
