Strange, why is this guy only targeting me and not attacking anyone else? Is it another order from the Serpent Empress? Damn that filthy snake, just wait, I won't rest until I kill you.
With a chaotic sword technique, swinging wildly without any structure, Li Yunyang attacked only Xiang Xueer like a robot.
Taking advantage of his attack on Xiang Xueer, Lan Ran Qingtian charged from behind, tightly grabbing him and snatching the Azure Dragon Sword from his hands, suppressing his flailing arms. Li Yunyang struggled fiercely, letting out a beast-like howl.
That howl seemed to act as a command, causing the Zombies outside, who had been unable to enter, to suddenly go mad, shaking the inn with all their might. The second floor began to sway dangerously, almost like a magnitude seven earthquake.
"What’s happening?!" Lian Cheng Xue shouted as she clung tightly to a pillar in the room. "Hurry and let him go! At this rate, the whole building will collapse!"
Seeing this, Qingtian quickly released Li Yunyang. His roar finally ceased, and the swaying inn returned to calm. However, he extended his claws and continued to attack them; when would this end? Dawn was still far off.
Just as the three were at a loss, the door of the second-floor window suddenly swung open with a bang. Platypus's head popped out, shouting loudly, "Big sister, I'm here to save you!"
"Huh?" The three turned to look out the window and saw that it was that traitorous Stinky Duck again. Xiang Xueer cursed while dodging, "What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to help!" Platypus said hurriedly while covering its mouth. "You all need to hold your breath; these Zombies track their targets by scent!"
Hold my breath? Xiang Xueer stared at the Stinky Duck in confusion as it pressed its mouth shut and nodded vigorously. Well, since it's come to this, I might as well give it a try.
The three quickly covered their mouths and noses. Li Yunyang sniffed around in the air for a moment before standing dazedly in place, no longer attacking them.
Unexpectedly, this traitor Duck was actually telling the truth. Xiang Xueer glanced sideways at Platypus; the three nodded and quietly circled around Li Yunyang to exit the inn.
Indeed, not only Li Yunyang but also the Zombies standing at the door did not attack even as they passed by.
Lian Cheng Xue signaled Xiang Xueer with her eyes, asking what to do next. Xiang Xueer turned her head to look at a tall tower across from them. The three quickly climbed up the tower, maintaining a safe distance from the inn.
Platypus suddenly appeared, taking a deep breath: "Oh my, I almost suffocated! This should be relatively safe now, but I still need to hold my breath!"
"Why are you back? Didn't you say you were leaving?" Lian Cheng Xue poked its backside in annoyance, wishing she could throw it off the high tower.
Platypus flirtatiously hugged Xiang Xueer's thigh: "I wanted to leave, but then I remembered that big sister was still in danger, so I came back. See? Without me, you would have been dead long ago!"
Xiang Xueer pulled it off her thigh with one hand: "You heartless Stinky Duck, hurry up and shut up! Tell me, how did you know to hold your breath? Are you a spy?"
"By heaven's conscience!" Platypus shook its head vigorously, pointing at the sky with one finger: "My admiration for big sister is like the endless flow of the Yangtze River. Ever since I saw everyone defeat the Serpent Empress, I vowed to follow you from now on. I am yours!"
"Huh?" Xiang Xueer was confused: "What nonsense are you talking about? When did I defeat the Serpent Empress? I was almost killed by that damn snake!"
As Xiang Xueer mentioned this, her ribs still ached faintly. Platypus smiled and leaned closer, whispering mysteriously: "Don't worry, big sister, my lips are sealed. I won't tell them your transformation secret!"
Transformation? Again with the transformation? Xiang Xueer frowned tightly. Previously, Taotie had also mentioned her transformation, but she always thought it was just a joke. Now this dead Duck brought it up too. How strange; could it be that I really am an ancient version of Shirley?
"This is too bizarre!" Xiang Xueer sighed in frustration. She finally began to feel something was off. What exactly happened during those times she fainted?
"Oh no! They're coming!" Lian Cheng Xue shouted and quickly covered her mouth and nose, holding her breath. The two had been chatting for quite a while; although they were hiding far away, they still let the Zombies catch their scent and were now swaying towards the tower.
Xiang Xueer immediately held her breath as well. The three of them and one Duck turned red in the face, resembling Guan Yu. The entire night, Li Yunyang and his subordinate Zombies kept wandering around at the base of the tower until dawn when they finally swayed off towards the street.
"They're leaving! Quick, follow them!" The three quickly descended from the high tower and closely followed behind the Zombies, determined to uncover their destination.
In that same forest, the Zombies suddenly stopped in their tracks next to a patch of red spider lilies. Then suddenly, in the air, a black prototype Secret Door appeared out of nowhere, emanating a dark and eerie glow.
The three of them exchanged glances and saw the Zombies orderly walking out from the black Secret Door. It seemed this was the path to the Serpent Empress's lair.
Xiang Xueer quickly followed, preparing to blend in with the group of Zombies. However, after just a couple of steps, she found herself unable to move forward. Turning her head, she saw that it was that Stinky Duck again, clinging tightly to her thigh. "Sister, it's too dangerous! We shouldn't go!"
"Let go of me!" Xiang Xueer struggled for a while, and just as she was about to break free, Lan Ran Qingtian punched the Platypus on the head. It covered its head and began to cry, "Don't hold us back! You and Lian Xiong stay here and wait for us!"
"Woohoo! Beast! You're such a beast!" The Platypus pointed at Qingtian's nose and cursed wildly, only to have Lian Cheng Xue cover its mouth with a fierce glare. "If you keep shouting, I'll throw you into that black hole right now!"
"Mmm!" The Platypus quickly shut its mouth and shook its head anxiously. "I don't want to go in! No, I'll die!"
Xiang Xueer and Qingtian exchanged a knowing glance and followed the last Zombie into the black Secret Door. To their surprise, as soon as they entered, the Secret Door seemed to close automatically behind them.
They found themselves on a winding staircase that spiraled downwards layer by layer. Peering down, they realized it was unfathomably deep; they couldn't see where the staircase ended.
They walked for what felt like an eternity until they finally reached the bottom of the staircase. The Zombies in front suddenly stopped at the entrance of a cave.
With a loud clang, a giant iron door in front of the cave opened. Li Yunyang led his group of Zombies into a circular black cave, moving in unison as they entered the cages surrounding the cavern.
What is this place? Xiang Xueer frowned as she observed inside the cave. On four black pillars hung human skulls, and red candles burned that didn't seem like ordinary candles; they emitted a foul odor. Xiang Xueer approached and sniffed; a pungent smell of burnt flesh filled her nostrils.
"It's human fat made from dead humans!" Qingtian frowned as he took a whiff and then walked toward a table in the center of the cave. A red cloth covered something; he cautiously lifted it to reveal a darkened crystal ball.
