Li Yunyang stared blankly at the constantly swaying crystal ball. The Serpent Empress reached out to caress his cheek, pouting her lips and gently kissing his face. "Darling, it's rare to have such a good pet like you. Tonight, you should go and greet that woman properly."
"Yes, Master!" Li Yunyang replied expressionlessly. The Serpent Empress immediately threw her head back and laughed, "Little girl, I can't wait to see what your expression will be when you see your beloved man turn into a Zombie! Hahaha!"
Lian Cheng Xue's injury was internal; she needed proper rest to recover. Xiang Xueer stood at the door, constantly looking outside. She was starting to lose control, her mind filled with thoughts of Li Yunyang, unable to think of any strategies.
"Miss Xueer!" Lan Ran Qingtian went out, busy searching for clues. Lian Cheng Xue lay in bed, calling for her several times, but she remained standing there with her brows tightly furrowed, motionless.
"Stop calling; she can't hear you!" Platypus said helplessly, spreading its hands. "Ah! Women in love always seem to lose their minds; there's nothing we can do!"
"Ah!" Lian Cheng Xue sighed. "It's all my fault. If I weren't so useless, Brother Li wouldn't have been taken by the Serpent Empress!"
Xiang Xueer slowly turned around. "It's not your fault. Even if you could stop the Serpent Empress, Li Yunyang was poisoned by her snake venom and would still follow her. So don't blame yourself!"
"Mm-hmm, that makes sense!" Platypus nodded while putting its bag on its back. "So, big sister, while it's still light out, we should hurry and leave!"
"Where are we going?" Xiang Xueer asked, staring at its readiness to flee.
Platypus jumped up three feet high upon hearing this. "The Zombie will come out at night! If we don't run now, we'll all end up as the Serpent Empress's playthings!"
"You can leave if you want; I won't go anywhere since no one has ever asked you to stay here!" Xiang Xueer turned around and loaded all the bullets on her back; there might be a fierce battle tonight!
Platypus looked at Xiang Xueer with disdain and shook its head while laughing. "No wonder people say women in love have no brains; it’s true! When faced with issues regarding their beloved ones, they become especially sensitive!"
"What did you say? Say it again if you dare!" Xiang Xueer's cold eyes instantly silenced Platypus. It quickly covered its mouth and hurriedly ran away. "I don’t want to become the Serpent Empress's pet Zombie! You all can stay if you want!"
Beloved? Is Li Yunyang my beloved? Xiang Xueer couldn't help but sneer; how could that be possible? This lady wouldn’t fall for that idiot when there were two good men right beside her.
With a loud 'click,' the bullets were loaded. Before long, Qingtian returned to the inn with two Lion-Hybrids and shook his head upon seeing everyone. "Still no clues; it's really strange. So many Zombies can't just disappear into thin air!"
Lion-Hybrid nodded, "That's right, our sense of smell as a couple can't be wrong. They definitely lost their scent in that forest!"
"That's strange. Could it be that they went into hiding?" Lian Cheng Xue reminded the two, and Xiang Xueer and Lan Ran Qingtian exchanged glances. "No way, the Serpent Empress shouldn't have that ability!"
"I think so too!" Qingtian stroked his chin. "The Underworld isn't a place just anyone can enter. Even if the Serpent Empress is audacious, she wouldn't dare hide her Zombie Army in the Underworld!"
"Not necessarily!" A strange light flickered in Xiang Xueer's eyes as she smiled. "Haven't you heard the saying: the most dangerous place is the safest place?"
"Hey, hey!" Lian Cheng Xue quickly interrupted them. "You two aren't thinking of charging into the Underworld, are you?"
Xiang Xueer was pondering a plan when Lian Cheng Xue's words reminded her immediately. "Haha, Lian Xiong, you're really clever! You're right, I do want to go to the Underworld!"
"Breaking into the Underworld? That's easier said than done!" Lian Cheng Xue exclaimed excitedly. "This isn't a joke; it's said that there are Hellhounds guarding every entrance to the Underworld. Just getting in is already impossible!"
"Shh!" Lan Ran Qingtian gestured for Lian Cheng Xue to be quiet, glancing at the deep in thought Xiang Xueer, then shook his head. "Don't disturb her."
As night fell mercilessly again, while the three were deep in thought, there was suddenly a commotion outside. Qingtian frowned as he sensed something unusual.
He quickly stepped outside and was taken aback; hordes of Zombies were rushing towards the inn's entrance.
"Oh no, quickly close the door!" Qingtian shouted. Just then, Xiang Xueer, holding a bowl of food and just coming out of the kitchen, set it down and rushed over. The two quickly lowered the door plank and secured the windows tightly.
With injuries still on him, it was clear that Lian Cheng Xue wouldn't have time to escape. The two quickly prepared their weapons, and Lian Cheng Xue struggled to get up from the bed. "What do we do now?"
"Hmph! When soldiers come, block them; when water comes, bury it!" As soon as Xiang Xueer finished speaking, loud banging sounds echoed from outside as a group of Zombies attempted to break down the inn's doors and windows.
"We can't hold out like this for long!" Qingtian worriedly looked at the wobbling door plank, then glanced at the stairs of the inn. Helping up Lian Cheng Xue, he quickly headed upstairs. "We need to get upstairs fast!"
After speaking, the three quickly ascended to the attic. Suddenly, with a loud crash, the door was forcefully burst open. A familiar figure entered, raising the Azure Dragon Sword. With lifeless black eyes, he scanned the room and twitched his sensitive nose, immediately looking up towards the attic.
Li Yunyang? Xiang Xueer stared in shock at the transformed Li Yunyang, who exuded an aura of a Zombie leader, swaying as he led his subordinates toward the stairs.
“Brother Li has indeed been controlled by the Serpent Empress; this is troublesome!” Qingtian cursed inwardly. If it were just dealing with ordinary civilians turned Zombies, they would feel more than capable. However, Li Yunyang was a formidable Exorcist and a companion who had fought alongside them against demons. The three of them felt an intense inner conflict.
Xiang Xueer shouted angrily, pointing at the attic stairs: “No! We must stay calm; we can't let them go upstairs!”
“Let me handle it!” Qingtian shouted loudly, forming his hands into a tiger claw shape: “Exorcism Essence: Tiger Claw Double Dragons Storm Break!”
With a thunderous roar, the force generated by his fists struck the stairs above. In an instant, as the stairs collapsed, all the Zombies attempting to climb up were sent flying back.
Li Yunyang, wielding the Azure Dragon Sword in one hand and surrounded by a swirling black wind at his feet, propelled himself against the wall and shot up to the second floor attic in an instant, raising his sword to attack Xiang Xueer.
“Hey, you pighead! Wake up! It's me!” Xiang Xueer retreated repeatedly, trying to rouse him. But those lifeless eyes could only respond to the commands of the Serpent Empress and absorbed nothing else.
“Shirley, stop wasting time! Get inside quickly!” Qingtian pulled her into one of the guest rooms. Xiang Xueer shut the door tightly, feeling an inexplicable surge of anger: “That despicable Serpent Empress is using Li Yunyang to hunt me down!”
Just then, Li Yunyang raised the Azure Dragon Sword. The door of the room seemed as fragile as paper, splitting in two and crashing to the ground. He gripped the Azure Dragon Sword tightly and slowly walked into the room.
His vacant eyes appeared to see nothing; instead, he kept sniffing the air as if searching for something. Strange—what was Li Yunyang doing? Before Xiang Xueer could react, he seemed to have found her direction and charged at her with his sword raised.
