Li Yunyang walked angrily through the alley, unaware that danger was slowly approaching him. On the roof beside the alley, the Serpent Empress had already set her red eyes on him.
After a period of observation, she found nothing suspicious, so she leaped down from the roof, preparing to make her move on her prey.
Suddenly, Li Yunyang felt someone tap his shoulder. Thinking it was Xiang Xueer, he threw the basket he was holding onto the ground and impatiently exclaimed, "Hey, I said you dead girl, how much longer do I have to pretend?"
"Hmm? It's a man?" The Serpent Empress furrowed her brow slightly, her keen nose sniffing the air. Realizing she had been tricked, she turned to escape.
"Ah?" Li Yunyang turned around and saw the Serpent Empress's red eyes darting. He quickly drew the Azure Dragon Sword from behind him and shouted, "I am Li Yunyang, the chief disciple of Feng Qingyang, the current Holy Ten Exorcists. Demon, come here and die!"
This fool had indeed revealed himself. Xiang Xueer swiftly drew her dagger and, along with Lian Cheng Xue, jumped down from the eaves to decisively block the Serpent Empress's escape route.
The Serpent Empress was taken aback, realizing she was caught between two attackers. Upon seeing Xiang Xueer, she became furious: "Witch, are you really trying to kill me?"
"Who are you calling a witch?" Xiang Xueer said as her dagger gleamed coldly. The three of them pressed in on her step by step, their encirclement slowly tightening. Meanwhile, Lan Ran Qingtian arrived quickly from the side and circled around Li Yunyang to catch her off guard: "Exorcism Essence: Tiger Bites Double-Headed Fist."
With a powerful strike, his fists hit the Serpent Empress hard on her back. After their last battle where she had been severely injured by the witch within Xiang Xueer, she had yet to fully recover. Now with Qingtian's surprise attack, she was hurt badly again.
"Roar!" The Serpent Empress let out an angry roar and revealed her true form—a giant Crimson Python coiling in mid-air. She bared her fangs and formed a swirling black sphere in her mouth that shot towards them.
"Not good! Everyone dodge!" Xiang Xueer shouted. Being hit by this creature's black air flow was no joke. Sure enough, a powerful stream of wind erupted from its mouth like a tornado, scattering houses everywhere—tiles flew about and dust filled the air, making it impossible to see the surroundings.
Lian Cheng Xue tightly shielded Xiang Xueer with her body. Before anyone could react, Lan Ran Qingtian leaped out from the thick smoke and continued chasing after the snake.
"Cough cough!" Xiang Xueer pushed Lian Cheng Xue aside as the three of them burst out of the dust cloud and looked around while closely following Qingtian: "Damn it! We can't let her escape today!"
"Damn Exorcists!" The Serpent Empress cursed angrily as she twisted her body in a cloud of mist, trying to flee. What terrified her was not anyone else but Xiang Xueer who pursued closely behind—perhaps only she remembered the grudges from a hundred years ago vividly.
"Too fast, we're going to lose her!" Xiang Xueer quickly formed seals with her hands, biting her finger and shouting, "Summoning!"
The ground cracked open, and Taotie emerged from the thick fog. She leaped onto its back, pointing at the fleeing Serpent Empress and shouted, "Taotie, today is the day we avenge our humiliation!"
"Yes!" A gust of wind surged beneath Taotie's feet as Xiang Xueer pulled up the running Lan Ran Qingtian. The two rode on Taotie's back, closely following behind the Serpent Empress.
Qingtian stood tall on Taotie's back while Xiang Xueer raised her Crossbow. The two coordinated perfectly: "You go ahead, I'll cover you!"
"Alright, then it's up to you!" Lan Ran Qingtian tore off his outer garment, forming his hands into a tiger's claw shape. Gathering energy in his dantian, he roared, shaking the entire sky with echoes: "Exorcism Essence: Tiger Claw Double Dragons Storm Break!"
As the Seven Character Formula was unleashed, a powerful current gathered on Qingtian's arms. Using Taotie's back to rebound, he leaped high into the air, unleashing all his strength to send the Storm Break toward the Serpent Empress.
The Serpent Empress sensed danger and turned around, unleashing a black stream of energy toward Qingtian. With a thunderous boom, a massive clash erupted in the sky as two tremendous forces collided. With a bang, they were evenly matched; suddenly, a fierce wind arose, blinding everyone with its intensity.
Qingtian was blown around in the sky several times before grabbing onto a nearby large tree, finally landing safely. Such immense power indicated that the Serpent Empress was likely in serious trouble.
Finally, as the tornado passed, houses were flattened to the ground, and century-old sturdy trees were left with only bare tree trunks. The ground looked as if it had been swept clean by a typhoon, devoid of any weeds.
The four of them poked their heads out from the dust. The first thing they did was quickly search for the Serpent Empress's body. However, when they arrived at the spot, they were stunned to find no trace of her—only a gigantic snake skin remained.
"This shameless bastard! Just knows how to strip and run away!" Xiang Xueer cursed angrily. Li Yunyang sniffed the air carefully: "No need to chase; that cunning fellow has already vanished without a trace."
After meticulously planning their strategy, they ultimately let that Serpent Empress escape. Xiang Xueer frowned: "Let's go; we'll wait here for a few more days and investigate the whereabouts of the Serpent Empress."
On a distant highland, Blue Eyes scanned the ground before quickly disappearing into the night. Heart Demon waved his hand, and a figure stepped out from the shadows, kneeling on the ground: "Master, what are your orders?"
Heart Demon turned to Xiang Xueer and said, "Your new mission is to stay by the princess's side and observe her every move. Report any news to me promptly!"
"Yes!" The figure slowly stood up and asked, "Is the master going to investigate the whereabouts of Serpent Empress?"
Heart Demon's pupils narrowed into a thin line. "My matters are none of your concern. Focus on the task I assigned you, or you know the consequences!"
"Yes!" The figure disappeared, and Heart Demon looked at the sky in front of him, his finger joints cracking as he said, "Serpent Empress, if it weren't for Demon Lord saying you still have some value, I would have taken your life long ago!"
In a cave more than ten miles away, Serpent Empress stumbled against the stone wall as she entered. "That damned Witch, chasing me time and again. How infuriating! In just half a month, I've been forced to shed my skin twice."
"It seems I can't stay here any longer. I need to recuperate and hide far away!" She sat down on the Stone Bed inside the cave, clutching her chest as blood gushed from her mouth. Her cold red eyes glimmered as she began to devise a new plan.
Xiang Xueer, Li Yunyang, and another had been staying at the inn for three days, and there had been no further reports of missing girls. It seemed that Serpent Empress was no longer in the village.
Initially thinking that the annoying snake demon had finally left her sight and that peace had returned to the world, a new problem arose. She was frustrated; these hot-blooded male creatures only knew how to fight and kill.
"No! We must continue hunting down Serpent Empress!” Li Yunyang slammed his hand on the table, causing the teacup to jump three feet high. “As long as that Demon exists in this world, countless innocent humans will suffer!”
"Exactly! What Brother Li said makes sense!" Lan Ran Qingtian glanced at Lian Cheng Xue and asked, “Lian Xiong, are you interested in joining us?”
"Of course!" A look of excitement spread across Lian Cheng Xue's face. "I am now all alone; my clan and family are gone. So being able to join you in slaying demons and killing Serpent Empress would be a way to honor my clan's spirits."
