However, what she was most worried about right now was that after Tao disappeared, she was the only remaining target here. All of the Serpent Empress's attacks would be directed solely at her.
"Hehehe! Not bad!" Serpent Empress tilted her head, her body forming an 'S' shape as she flicked her tongue. "I haven't seen you, this foolish woman, in a long time. If I were you, I would use that beast as a keyboard and take the chance to escape!"
"Shut up, you're the beast!" Xiang Xueer shouted angrily, raising the dagger in her hand and charging towards Serpent Empress. Rather than waiting to be attacked, she preferred to strike first.
Serpent Empress twisted her body and let out a roar, emitting a beast-like howl. A circular black airflow began to form in her mouth, and a powerful stream of air burst forth from it. Xiang Xueer was instantly blown into the air by the force, like a leaf detached from a branch. With a thud, she crashed against a thick Tree Trunk.
The violent impact caused her to cough up blood from her abdomen. She fell from the Tree Trunk to the ground and struggled to get back up but stumbled and ended up lying flat on the ground.
A long snake tail lifted her off the ground and brought her before Serpent Empress. She admired the cheek of the woman in front of her. "Hehe! I was going to eat you, but seeing how you look, I might as well keep you as my new vessel!"
"You... what did you say? What vessel?" Xiang Xueer frowned, suddenly recalling the dead girl on the Sacrifice platform earlier—wasn't she just Serpent Empress's latest vessel?
"Don't!" Xiang Xueer screamed, thrusting the dagger forcefully towards Serpent Empress's head. With a clang, it seemed as if the scales on her body acted like a protective shield; the dagger uselessly bounced off her skin and fell to the ground.
"Dead Girl, you've got some guts to dare resist me. Don't worry; I'll make sure you won't be able to resist anymore!" The red pupils of Serpent Empress contracted sharply as she raised her head. A white airflow surged from the snake's head and violently poured into Xiang Xueer's body.
"Ah!" The scream startled the entire forest. The intense pain and impact caused her to lose consciousness instantly. Within this flesh, a pair of red pupils immediately opened their eyes.
"Get lost!" The Crimson-Haired, Red-Eyed Individual woke up and glared at Serpent Empress with anger. One hand raised, she forcefully pulled out the snake tongue from Serpent Empress's mouth and threw it onto the ground, causing Serpent Empress to let out a horrific scream.
"Ah! My tongue!" The white waves ceased as Serpent Empress rolled on the ground incessantly, while a giant snake wreaked havoc throughout the forest.
"Where did this beast come from!" Red Eyes glared angrily at the rolling Serpent Empress, squinting as she slowly approached her. With red hair and crimson eyes, a pair of black-clawed hands suddenly plunged into the Serpent Empress's body, grabbing hold of her Snake Gallbladder.
"You... who are you?" the Serpent Empress trembled, her precious Snake Gallbladder in the other's grasp. Just moments ago, she was a human girl, but in the blink of an eye, she had transformed into a terrifying demon, towering over her like the king of all demons.
Suddenly, she focused on the pair of Dragon Horns atop the woman's head and realized, "You... you're not that Exorcist girl; you're one of Demon Lord's people?"
The Witch revealed a cold smile at the corners of her mouth and slowly crouched down. "Serpent Empress, it's been a hundred years; I didn't expect you wouldn't recognize me. What's wrong? Has that Ghostly Abyss been so comfortable that you've forgotten about me?"
"You... you are the Demon Realm Princess?" The Serpent Empress widened her eyes in shock, unable to believe how unfortunate her luck was. After finally escaping from that dark Ghostly Abyss, she had encountered this woman whom she despised with all her heart.
The Witch laughed heartily, one of her Double Dragons claws gripping tightly onto the Serpent Empress's Snake Gallbladder. With a forceful squeeze, she prepared to crush it, easily taking the life of this snake in an instant.
"I won't let you succeed!" The Serpent Empress swept her tail fiercely, sending dust flying and obscuring their vision. The Witch frowned slightly; once the dust settled, her hand was left empty, with only a large shed snake skin remaining on the ground.
"Escaped?" The Witch slowly stood up and touched her own body. "Great! That damned woman always tries to suppress me; today I finally got out!"
Just as she spoke, a sudden sharp pain shot through her chest; the wound from earlier began to throb again. A strong impact had broken one of her ribs, and her head started to ache as well. The Witch angrily punched the ground. "This stinking body dares to suppress this princess time and again; how infuriating!"
"It hurts so much!" Xiang Xueer’s consciousness gradually returned. Her strong desire to survive made her desperately try to break free from her restraints. Suddenly, a crimson-haired, red-eyed woman glared at her, startling Xiang Xueer into opening her eyes wide and breaking into a cold sweat as she looked around.
"Who are you?" she shouted angrily. But upon opening her eyes, there was no sign of that red-haired red-eyed woman. Where was the Serpent Empress? She struggled hard and suddenly noticed a giant snake skin in front of her.
What is going on? Confused, she looked around but saw no one; the Serpent Empress had shed her skin and disappeared. What was happening? Who was that woman just now? Xiang Xueer reached for her chest and winced in pain. "Great, I must have broken a rib. How am I supposed to go back now?"
Three hours later, Li Yunyang, Lan Ran Qingtian, and Lian Cheng Xue finally arrived at the foot of Duckbill Mountain with the Duck. The scene before them left them stunned: a collapsed cave, debris scattered everywhere, and the only thing lying on the ground was the corpse of Bakemono.
"What... what is going on here?" Li Yunyang scratched his head vigorously and then threw the Duck onto the ground. "Hey, wake up, you Stinky Duck! How long are you going to stay unconscious?"
The Platypus slowly opened its eyes, looked around, and immediately scrambled to its feet, crying over Bakemono's corpse. "Wow, Great Yokai, how could you die like this? What am I supposed to do now?"
Lian Cheng Xue gasped as she looked at the five holes in Bakemono's head. "This can't be the work of Miss Xueer; it's not her style!"
"That's true!" Qingtian found it hard to grasp Bakemono's inexplicable death. However, someone who could kill him so easily was definitely not an ordinary person. The three of them frowned and walked into the cave, soon discovering a broken altar and a barrier inside.
"Summoning technique!" Lan Ran Qingtian suddenly realized. No wonder that group of Little Goblins had suddenly collapsed; it turned out their bodies had been used as sacrifices for the summoning. He couldn't help but curse, "That damn Bakemono, what kind of being did he summon?"
"This... I'm afraid only Shirley knows!" Upon hearing this, Li Yunyang felt anxious and turned to run outside. "That foolish girl must have gone after the summoned monster!"
It made sense; the three of them remembered to search around while Xiang Xueer lay on the ground, completely unable to move. The broken rib would stab into her internal organs with even the slightest movement; this was no joke. But was she really supposed to just wait here to die?
As she was feeling frustrated, suddenly she heard Li Yunyang's voice from afar: "Dead Girl, where are you?"
Li Yunyang? And Qingtian? Lian Cheng Xue also came? Xiang Xueer trembled as she raised her hand and waved it, calling out tearfully, "I'm over here!"
Li Yunyang sniffed and immediately discerned Xiang Xueer's location. He quickly ran over; seeing Xiang Xueer lying in a pool of blood and unable to move made his face change instantly. He was so anxious that he nearly tripped over a branch on the ground.
