Damn, what should I do? The Lian Cheng Xue family has been crafting Exorcist weapons for a hundred years. Although they have some skills, their ability to exorcise is not impressive, let alone to fight against Bakemono and Thousand Demons of that caliber.
Thousand Demons squinted and repeatedly looked at Lian Cheng Xue's handsome face: "Why, why are you born with flesh and blood, while we are stuck in this form? No matter what we eat, drink, or the kind of women we enjoy, we cannot fill this hollow body!"
"It's unfair, so unfair!" Thousand Demons howled, as if resenting the injustice of the world: "Why are you humans by nature, while we are born as ugly demons? Why? Tell me, why?"
The grip of Thousand Demons grew heavier; he was filled with the impulse to crush Lian Cheng Xue's throat. Lian Cheng Xue glared at it with angry eyes, striking it fiercely with the Black Iron Sword, producing a clanging sound.
"Why? Then what gives you the right to take innocent lives? Your heart is uglier than your appearance!" Lian Cheng Xue shouted, putting all his strength into kicking Thousand Demons' body.
Using the rebound from the kick, Lian Cheng Xue decisively escaped from Thousand Demons' grasp. He covered his painfully squeezed throat with one hand and propped himself up with the sword: "Thousand Demons, even though I only have one left arm, today I will kill you for my clan's revenge, even if it costs me my life!"
"Revenge?" Thousand Demons looked at Lian Cheng Xue with indifference and then burst into laughter: "Oh, I thought you were someone important; turns out you're just a lowly human from Exorcism Village. I didn't expect there would still be a fish that slipped through the net!"
The battle between Lian Cheng Xue and Thousand Demons continued, but Thousand Demons seemed utterly uninterested and even intended to provoke him.
It stood still, too lazy to use its most skilled technique—the spine. Its contemptuous gaze seemed to tell Lian Cheng Xue that it was standing there for him to attack; he couldn't hurt it at all. To it, this was nothing short of blatant provocation.
"Damn it, I will kill you!" Lian Cheng Xue's heart was clouded by anger as he wildly swung the Black Iron Sword. However, the strength in his left hand was indeed too weak; this hand had always just held tools rather than swords.
The anger within Lian Cheng Xue had been ignited. His eyes were filled with a murderous intent; a fierce battle was about to erupt. What would happen next? No one knew.
Meanwhile, Xiang Xueer stood in place, her feet seemingly caught in a dilemma. She hesitated to move! Looking at the latest updates on Reading Network, she thought that Lian Cheng Xue was not listening to her warnings. She didn't care about him; if he wanted to seek death, let him!
However, having known him for a while made her uneasy about not helping him. What if he really got killed by that Thousand Demons? How would she explain it to Lian Cheng Xue later?
"Oh, I'm so annoyed!" She plopped down on the ground, her hands drawing circles in the air as she debated whether to chase after him or not.
After a while, she finally stood up, gripping the AK-47 in her hands, and sprinted toward the forest ahead, muttering under her breath, "Lian Cheng Xue, you really are something!"
Just a few steps in, she ran into big trouble. Bakemono stood in front of her with a chilling smile: "Oh, where are you in such a hurry to go? I've been looking for you for a long time."
Xiang Xueer grinned and sighed: "Well, this is it. Lian Cheng Xue, I can't help you anymore; you're on your own now!"
"Hey, you still have the time to worry about others? Looks like you're really bored!" Bakemono said mockingly, twirling two ribs in his hands. "Since neither of us has anything to do, let's have another bet!"
"Oh? Good idea! That sounds interesting!" A rare spark of interest lit up Xiang Xueer's face. It was better than a life-and-death fight and could buy her some time, which was exactly what she wanted.
She placed the AK-47 on the ground and leaned on the barrel, raising an eyebrow: "So, what are we betting on? Is it a shooting game or hand-to-hand combat? I'm up for anything!"
Shooting game? Hand-to-hand combat? Bakemono frowned, completely clueless about what she was talking about. Then he revealed his terrifying fangs with a sinister grin: "Actually, the rules are simple. Do you see those trees around us? That will be our boundary; we will stay within this circle. Step out of bounds and you lose!"
"Oh?" Xiang Xueer turned to look at the trees surrounding them. They formed a circle with a radius of less than 100 meters. She smiled and asked, "So what's the rule?"
"There are no rules!" Bakemono said with an eerie smile. "Step out of bounds and you lose!"
"Oh, got it!" Xiang Xueer looked around with a cheerful expression. It was just an attack and defense battle within the designated area—simple enough. She asked, "What are we betting on?"
Bakemono smirked and casually replied with one word: "Life!"
"Hahaha!" Xiang Xueer burst into laughter. This was truly amusing; it had been years since she encountered such a fun bet. The last time was during her time in the military when they had similar attack and defense battles. She readily agreed: "Great! I'm in!"
"Hmph!" The smile on Bakemono's face suddenly vanished as he stared at Xiang Xueer's confident expression, feeling a surge of anger: "You little brat, you killed my third brother, and I will make sure you won't be able to smile again!"
Xiang Xueer fixed her eagle-like gaze on Bakemono, her mind racing as she calculated the distances and environment around her, formulating dozens of battle plans. Her current mission was to delay time as much as possible.
"It'll take about two more hours!" Xiang Xueer muttered to herself. Even if Li Yunyang and Qingtian were the fastest, it would still take them two hours to arrive. So, holding off Bakemono and Thousand Demons during this time depended entirely on her and Lian Cheng Xue.
"Why is my life so hard? I work like I'm selling drugs but earn money like I'm selling cabbage!" Xiang Xueer sighed dramatically to the sky. "What glory does being an Exorcist bring? Can glory fill your stomach? Can it be used as money? Or serve as a talisman when you're about to die? It's really hard to understand!"
Suddenly, a cold breeze brushed past her ear, and Bakemono lunged at her with the spine in his hand, the icy bone grazing her cheek: "What are you thinking about, darling?"
Xiang Xueer quickly turned around and stepped back a few paces, touching her stinging cheek as a trickle of blood flowed down from the wound. This guy's movements were incredibly fast, like a ghost.
Furious, she glared at the blood on her hand and raised her AK-47, shouting, "You bastard! Didn't your mother teach you not to touch a woman's face casually? And stop calling others darling, you perverted rogue!"
"Hmph!" Bakemono's cold gaze fixated on her cheek as his bones suddenly separated and launched a fierce attack towards Xiang Xueer.
Damn it, this is such a hassle! Xiang Xueer had no choice but to retreat step by step. Suddenly, a tree blocked her path. She remembered the rules of their bet: she couldn't leave this circle. That bastard Bakemono was indeed benefiting from this rule.
Xiang Xueer glanced sideways and spotted a stone half her height. She rolled on the ground and crouched behind the stone, quickly raising her AK-47 and firing at the flying bones in the sky.
'Bang! Bang! Bang!' The bones that Bakemono used for his attack fell to the ground with a clatter. A smile appeared at the corner of her mouth; the situation had changed in an instant. Xiang Xueer shifted from defense to offense, taking advantage of a very favorable position.
