“Grenade?” Lian Cheng Xue quickly took the package from his back and handed it to Xiang Xueer. “I did make some Grenade, but I’m not sure how effective they are, and about the power you mentioned that can take down a whole area.”
“You made Grenade?” Xiang Xueer excitedly grabbed the package, opened it, and said, “Not bad! Although the shape is a bit off, it even has a fuse on top.” She shook it vigorously and asked, “Did you put gunpowder in here?”
Lian Cheng Xue nodded. “I followed the method for that Black Powder you mentioned, but I just don’t know if it will actually work!”
“Good job!” Xiang Xueer praised him with a smile. However, both of them had no idea what kind of power this old and crude version of Grenade could unleash.
At this moment, Xiang Xueer had come up with a bold plan. She turned to Lian Cheng Xue with a serious expression. “Right now, it’s just the two of us. If we throw this Grenade and there’s no backup behind us, we’ll become live targets for this Million Demon Legion. Are you ready for that?”
Lian Cheng Xue nodded vigorously. “I’m ready! As long as we can stop this group of Demon, I’m not afraid of being blown to bits!”
Xiang Xueer cursed inwardly; he might not be afraid, but she certainly didn’t want to die young. Besides, she had already died once; she didn’t want to experience that again.
She looked down at the ground where the monsters were carrying large scythes on their shoulders. There were definitely over ten thousand of them, not to mention that traitorous Platypus was also among them.
“That Stinky Duck, you traitor! I’m going to blow you up into roasted duck today!” Xiang Xueer pulled out a fire starter with one hand and held the ready-to-launch Grenade in the other, carefully watching the distance between them and Bai Gui Village. She needed to aim carefully before firing!
The smug Bakemono, riding on horseback, had cold gleaming eyes fixed on the approaching Ghost Night Village. He sneered, “Hmph, tonight I will have a killing spree!”
Just as he finished speaking, Platypus hurriedly tugged at the cloak with “General” written on it and ran over with a fawning expression. “Hmph, as long as we have the wise and mighty Lord Bone and Thousand Demons leading us, we will definitely win this battle!”
Thousand Demons turned to look at Platypus’s sycophantic face and burst into laughter. “Hahaha! What a great flatterer you are, General!”
As the three of them were lost in their triumph, suddenly something round fell from the sky with a thud right in front of General Platypus. He picked it up with a puzzled expression and stared at the flames flickering from the top of the Grenade, asking, “Hey? What is this thing? Why is it on fire?”
"This is a gift from me to you!" Suddenly, a woman's loud shout echoed through the sky. Everyone looked up and saw Xiang Xueer riding on the back of Taotie, accompanied by Lian Cheng Xue.
"You're that Dead Girl again!" Bakemono's forehead instantly bulged with veins. It and the Thousand Demons were angrily preparing to advance when the general's homemade Grenade exploded with a loud bang.
The Grenade exploded, releasing thick black smoke all around, and colorful fireworks erupted in the air. The unfortunate Stinky Duck was blasted into the sky and then got stuck in a tree branch, smoke billowing from its rear, with most of its feathers blown off.
Bakemono and the Thousand Demons reacted quickly, leaping away to escape the danger zone. The monsters nearby that were hit by the Grenade, although not visibly injured, began to panic and flee in all directions, shouting, "Help! The gods are angry!"
Xiang Xueer stared at the damage caused by the Grenade with annoyance and turned to glare at Lian Cheng Xue. "Is this really a Grenade? It clearly looks like some kind of firework!"
Lian Cheng Xue scratched his head awkwardly. "I already said I wasn't sure if it would work; it's still in the experimental stage!"
At this point, there was no time to worry about that. Regardless of the damage it could cause, they had already opened fire and had to press on. The two quickly lit the Grenades wrapped beneath them and threw them down below.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Smoke began to billow everywhere on the ground as Grenades rained down like a shower from above, filling the sky with colorful fireworks.
Although they didn't have strong lethality, they succeeded in disrupting the enemy's formation. Their goal had been achieved; it seemed that for now, the villagers of Ghost Night Village wouldn't be able to regroup and launch another attack. Now they just had to wait for Li Yunyang's reinforcements to arrive.
A victorious smile appeared on Xiang Xueer's face as she patted Taotie. "It's done; let's hurry and get out of here!"
"Yes!" Taotie replied, turning its feet to prepare to leave in another direction. Just then, Bakemono and the Thousand Demons shouted loudly, "Stop right there!"
Thus, the two soared into the air from the ground, blocking their path one in front and one behind, trapping them in between.
Xiang Xueer glanced sideways at the encircling Bakemono and Thousand Demons, cursing under her breath, "Well, it seems we won't be leaving after all!"
"What should we do, Miss Xueer?" Lian Cheng Xue, sitting behind her, quickly asked, the sword in his hand making a sound as he gripped it tightly. She turned to look at him and immediately smiled, "Looks like we have to engage in battle right now!"
Lian Cheng Xue's eagle-like eyes fixed angrily on Bakemono and Thousand Demons, gritting his teeth as he shouted, "Just what I wanted! Today, I will personally kill you both to offer to the people of Exorcism Village!"
"Hmph, a mere human dares to speak so arrogantly!" Thousand Demons' eyes never left Xiang Xueer. "Big brother, this little girl killed our third brother!"
"I know; we've crossed paths before!" Bakemono snapped two of his ribs from his chest with a loud crack and pointed them at Xiang Xueer. "Little girl, today we'll settle both old and new scores!"
"Interesting; if you have the guts, come at me!" Xiang Xueer showed no signs of backing down. She pulled out an already loaded AK-47 from behind her and subtly leaned back, saying to Lian Cheng Xue, "We can't fight head-on right now; the most important thing is to buy time until Lan Ran Qingtian and the others arrive!"
"What? Buy time?" Lian Cheng Xue frowned. He calculated for a moment and said, "That could be quite troublesome; Qingtian and the others will take at least an hour to get here!"
"Heh heh! I know that too!" Xiang Xueer replied with a forced smile. The two of them needed to stall for an hour. Lian Cheng Xue was still severely injured and at a near-zero combat capability. It wouldn't be easy for him and Taotie to deal with both Bakemono and Thousand Demons, especially since the group of Demon Soldiers below, although their formation was disrupted, might regroup again. If her worst fears came true, it would be a disaster.
While Xiang Xueer was still thinking of strategies, Bakemono and Thousand Demons had no intention of waiting for her and had already launched their attack.
Thousand Demons' yellow eyes flickered before he drew out his spine and began attacking from behind them. Taotie's reaction was swift; with a dragon's tail sweep, he immediately neutralized Thousand Demons' first attack.
Bakemono squinted at Thousand Demons. The two brothers exchanged glances as if plotting something. Xiang Xueer's leopard-like eyes sensed their unusual behavior immediately, prompting her to respond even more cautiously. Lian Cheng Xue gripped his Black Iron Sword tightly, prepared for their assault.
