"Little girl, stop showing off your tongue!" The Shape-shifting Monster shouted, then quickly flapped its wings and soared into the air with a whoosh, circling around her body while entangling and attacking. Xiang Xueer tried to aim several times, but the sand kicked up by its wings blinded her, making it impossible for her to shoot.
She immediately switched weapons, drawing the daggers from her ankles for close combat. The cold light flashed as the silver daggers sliced through the air, leaving behind shimmering white lines.
Strangely, this Shape-shifting Monster was too peculiar. Xiang Xueer had been entangled with it for quite a while, and it seemed to have no intention of launching a direct attack; it just circled low in the air, seemingly calculating something.
At that moment, she felt a chill behind her. Xiang Xueer instinctively sensed the Killing Intent approaching, but by the time she turned around, it was already too late. The Shape-shifting Monster had ambushed her from behind, its sharp claws tightly gripping her neck. With a snap, the two daggers in her hands fell to the ground, flying far away.
No, this was just Blue Eyes. Xiang Xueer glanced at the sky; that Blue Eyes Shape-shifting Monster was still up there. She had been tricked; this one was just a decoy, while the one lurking nearby was the real hunter. What a clever strategy of a pincer attack; she had truly underestimated them this time.
Xiang Xueer struggled desperately, attacking the Shape-shifting Monster with her limbs, but its arms were too long for her to reach its body. She was left unarmed while the claws gripping her neck made it hard for her to breathe.
She reached back to grab her Crossbow, but another Shape-shifting Monster approached and pinned down her arm, laughing, "Oh dear, little girl still wants to resist? Weren't you very bold just now? Why are you silent now?"
"Hehehe, this little girl has delicate skin; she should taste pretty good!" The Blue Eyes Shape-shifting Monster grinned widely, revealing its black fangs as it lunged at Xiang Xueer, intending to swallow her whole.
"Wait!" Yellow Eyes immediately stopped it and said with a smile, "Hey, did you forget the rules? Good things are meant for the boss first; have you forgotten?"
"Got it, got it! I'll take her back to the boss right away!" Upon hearing this, Blue Eyes' expression darkened immediately. Its open fangs retracted on their own as one hand swung toward Xiang Xueer's head with a fierce slap. She felt darkness enveloping her vision and soon lost consciousness!
Xiang Xueer was toyed with by two Shape-shifting Monsters and now lay unconscious. Meanwhile, Lan Ran Qingtian and Li Yunyang had walked without discovering any clues regarding Taotie or that girl. Especially since the blood trail had suddenly ended amidst the woods and hills; they were completely lost.
Thus, they returned to the fork in the road where they had agreed to meet earlier. By the time Li Yunyang arrived, Qingtian was already waiting there.
"How is it?" Qingtian asked hurriedly as he looked at the returning Li Yunyang.
Li Yunyang shook his head, "I didn't find anything. The bloodstains suddenly disappeared, so I had no choice but to come back first!"
Qingtian sighed and looked up at the sky; it was already bright. The night had passed, and the Misty Forest welcomed Daylight again. The previously restless demons seemed to have hidden away, vanishing without a trace.
"Then let's wait for that girl to come back!" Li Yunyang leaned against the tree trunk to rest for a moment, "I hope that idiot doesn't act impulsively and finds Taotie before coming back to report!"
However, the two waited for two hours, and as the sun rose higher in the sky, Xiang Xueer still hadn't returned, which worried both of them: "Could something have happened?"
The two exchanged glances and decided to enter the small path where Xiang Xueer had gone to search for her. They called out as they walked but still found no trace of her. Li Yunyang was anxious; could it be that she really hadn't gone far and encountered Taotie?
"Look, what is that!" On the ground in front of the mountain, a black object was shining. As they approached, Li Yunyang immediately recognized it: "Isn't this the Dead Girl's gun? And a Crossbow? How did it end up here?"
"And a dagger!" Lan Ran Qingtian picked up two daggers that had fallen at the cave entrance and walked over. Looking at the scene of the battle around them, he couldn't help but gasp: "We are too late; it seems she has already been abducted!"
Li Yunyang picked up the gun from the ground, veins bulging on his forehead, and shouted angrily into the empty forest: "Xiang Xueer, you Dead Girl, where are you?!"
"Cough, cough!" With a sore throat, Xiang Xueer gradually opened her eyes. The scenery before her began to become clear. Suddenly recalling how she had been ambushed by two Shape-shifting Monsters disguised as foxes, she felt a surge of anger. But when she turned to look around her surroundings, she was instantly stunned.
It was a cave—a large cave. In one corner curled about ten young girls who looked like they were from nearby villages. She couldn't help but furrow her brow: "What... what kind of place is this?"
Suddenly, a small hand reached for her shoulder. Startled, she turned to see a pair of big eyes blinking at her in surprise. She gasped internally: "You... aren't you that little girl from the village? How did you end up here?"
"Shh!" She quickly covered Xiang Xueer's mouth with her hand. "Don't speak loudly; this is a monster's cave. We have all been captured by the monsters!"
A monster's cave? Xiang Xueer looked down at the scattered human bones on the ground and immediately understood; this cave was the kitchen of the Demon. She tried to stand up but ended up falling back down with a 'thud.'
Looking down, Xiang Xueer saw that her hands and feet were bound by a type of green vine. She struggled hard for a few moments, but the vine, whatever it was made of, did not budge at all. In fact, the more she struggled, the tighter it became!
"This is thorn vine; we can't get it off!" The little girl stretched out her small hands and feet, confirming that everyone was tightly bound. It seemed they had done this to prevent them from escaping.
"Why are they all girls?" Xiang Xueer slowly stood up and hopped over to a few girls huddled in the corner of the cave, who looked to be young, around seventeen or eighteen years old.
At that moment, one of them turned around in fear and started to cry softly, "This, this Taotie loves to eat young girls. We... we are all going to die!"
Taotie? Hmph! So this is Taotie's kitchen. It seems we are all designated as its meal. The big boss mentioned by those two Shape-shifting Monsters must be this Taotie. It turns out it is the ruler of this Misty Forest, while Hellhounds and Shapeshifters are merely its minions.
"Quite a big shot!" The first thing Xiang Xueer needed to do was get rid of this damned vine; otherwise, neither she nor anyone else in this cave would be able to escape.
However, getting rid of the vine was easier said than done. Normally, silverware would have some effect on this vine, but after searching for a long time, she found no silver objects at all.
"Hurry up!" At that moment, a commotion erupted outside. Xiang Xueer recognized that voice; it belonged to that damned Shapeshifter with eyes like a beast. Then came the sound of chaotic footsteps and women's cries drawing closer.
Someone was coming! Xiang Xueer quickly lay flat on the ground, pretending to still be unconscious. Before long, two Demons entered, dragging three or four young girls along with them. They pointed at the opposite side of the cave and shouted, "No crying! If you cry again, I'll eat you!"
