"Zhi Liu!" Xiang Xueer pulled the rope with all her might and tied the other end to the Tree Trunk. As the saying goes, you can't catch a wolf if you don't let go of the child. Then she saw Li Yunyang and the Serpent Whip tightly rolling, hanging from the branches and spinning around.
"Dead Girl, if you have the ability, don't let me down; otherwise, I will definitely not spare you!" Li Yunyang ground his teeth in anger, his eyes almost bulging out as he glared at Xiang Xueer.
"Hehe, don't worry! Once that Taotie is hooked, I'll let you go immediately!" Xiang Xueer smiled as she sat down beside him. Qingtian was cautiously watching the surroundings, his nerves taut, not daring to relax even a little.
"Miss Jiao Rong, hunting Taotie is no joke; we must be careful! It is said that the ruler of this Misty Forest commands all the monsters within it!" Lan Ran Qingtian warned her again, but she still looked relaxed.
Li Yunyang continued to spin on the Tree Trunk: "That's right, Dead Girl; even if you want to die, you can't drag me down with you!"
"Shut up!" Xiang Xueer impatiently pulled out a handkerchief and stuffed it in his mouth. "If you don't talk, no one will take you for a mute!"
"Woo woo woo!" Li Yunyang's face turned red with anger as he tried to curse but couldn't say anything. He vowed that once he got down, he would teach this Dead Girl a lesson.
Suddenly, in the darkening night, a flash of glaring red darted through the grass. He frowned slightly, clearly sensing that those eyes were definitely not human. He wanted to warn them, but being tied up and having his mouth blocked made it impossible for him to say anything; he felt anxious, angry, and helpless.
The most infuriating thing was this Dead Girl, who was endlessly flirting with that man called Lan Ran Qingtian. Li Yunyang felt like his lungs were about to explode from anger.
"Ah, Qingtian, don't call me Miss Jiao Rong anymore; I don't like that name. Call me Shirley!" Xiang Xueer blinked her eyes as they chatted back and forth.
"Hu!" A low roar echoed from the distant valley, sounding like a tiger's roar or a wolf's howl. Just hearing that sound sent chills down their spines.
"What was that?" Xiang Xueer finally snapped back from her earlier relaxed demeanor. She began to cautiously survey her surroundings. There was no thick fog present, which meant there were currently no monsters around.
Qingtian also sensed that the atmosphere around them was becoming strange, so he quickly formed hand seals and then bit into his left thumb. With a 'bang,' he struck the ground, and instantly the earth began to crack open. He shouted, “Summoning!”
A cloud of white mist appeared on the ground, quickly dispersing to reveal two white Lion-Hybrids that materialized in front of the three.
“Wow, this is great! You’re really clever!” Xiang Xueer praised, nodding her head before turning to look at the branches. “You all observe from below; I’ll go up and gather some intelligence!”
After saying that, Xiang Xueer leaped into the air, her feet moving like a gust of Azure Wind. With a few sounds of 'clap clap,' she climbed to the top of the branches and surveyed the area. Within a thousand meters around her, everything was in sight. However, shrouded by the night, it was difficult to spot any targets. Yet her keen senses could still feel that this Misty Forest, filled with danger, was hiding threats everywhere.
Qingtian bent down and patted the heads of his two companions. “I can sense the danger, but I can’t identify what it is, so I’ll rely on you!”
One of them squinted and sniffed the air. “Qingtian, there are too many demons in this forest. Although I can’t distinguish them all, I can sense that a big fellow is lurking nearby. You all need to be careful!”
“Yeah, that’s right. And it’s definitely not an ordinary big fellow. It seems that we might not be able to handle it!” The other white tiger turned to look around and then fixed its green eyes in the southwest direction. “If I’m not mistaken, it’s in that direction!”
Qingtian turned to glance in that direction and nodded. He then signaled to Xiang Xueer, who quickly jumped down from the tree, AK-47 bullets ready. She poked Li Yunyang with the gun's muzzle and said, “Hey, Taotie darling, come out quickly! I’ve prepared a midnight snack for you. Come take a look! A prime virgin—young and strong, delicious flavor—absolutely genuine, no deception!”
“Wuwuwu!” Li Yunyang glared with bulging eyes, furious to the point of bursting. This damn woman dared to hawk him here, trying to send him straight into Taotie's mouth. At this moment, he even felt like killing her.
‘Rustle!’ A sound came from the southwest corner of the forest, causing everyone to hold their breath. Xiang Xueer held her gun patiently waiting for their prey to appear.
“Waaah!” A mournful cry echoed from the sky as a dark mass approached them rapidly. Xiang Xueer squinted up at the sky; could that Taotie even fly?
As the dark mass drew closer, one of the Lion-Hybrids suddenly shouted, “Not good! Quickly close ranks; it’s a Vampire Bat!
“Vampire Bat?” Xiang Xueer exclaimed in shock, and Lan Ran Qingtian quickly shouted, “You two, hurry to the Void Realm!”
As soon as the Lion-Hybrid disappeared, Xiang Xueer prepared to hide behind a rock wall with Qingtian. Suddenly, she remembered something very troubling: Li Yunyang was still hanging from the tree. She rushed out from behind the rock wall, untied the ropes binding him to the tree, and shouted, “Release!”
Finally freed, Li Yunyang fell to the ground with a thud. Xiang Xueer quickly helped him untie the ropes. Just as they were about to leave, they turned around to see a dark swarm of bats flying towards them from the sky. The bloodthirsty red eyes and sharp fangs of the bats were terrifying as they charged at the two.
“Oh no, there’s no time!” Xiang Xueer looked up and felt a cold wind pass by. The buzzing sound filled her ears as vampires flew past her ears, cheeks, and body. In an instant, their clothes were torn apart by the sharp claws and fangs, and they felt a burning pain all over their bodies.
Hiding behind the rock wall, Qingtian dodged the bats' attacks while glancing at the two in danger. He wanted to help but felt powerless.
“Don’t come out!” At that moment, Li Yunyang took off his coat and covered Xiang Xueer, turning his back to shield her while fiercely swinging his Azure Dragon Sword.
“Azure Dragon Slash! Azure Dragon Slash! Azure Dragon Slash!” he shouted angrily, as white sword energy danced in the black air, creating dazzling flashes of light between black and white.
‘Buzz buzz buzz!’ The ground was littered with the corpses of Vampire Bats, their broken limbs falling everywhere. The dark swarm of bats circled in the sky before disappearing in another direction.
Once Xiang Xueer heard that there was no more sound around them, she quickly removed the coat covering her. Seeing that they were safe, Li Yunyang slowly lowered his sword, and Qingtian, who had been hiding nearby, rushed over.
This idiot didn’t think of himself at such a critical moment but only cared about me. Looking at her wounds, which seemed not too serious, Xiang Xueer patted Li Yunyang on the back and said, “Hey, the bats are gone; it’s okay now!”
However, when Li Yunyang felt a sharp pain all over his body from her patting him, he fell backward with a thud. Seeing this, Xiang Xueer quickly stepped forward to catch him. Turning him over revealed that his body was covered in bloody wounds from the bites of the Vampire Bats. His shoulders, chest, and knees were riddled with tiny injuries, causing both of them to gasp in horror.
