"Ah?" Qingtian was about to go crazy from her antics. After a moment, he chuckled and said, "Hey, I told you not to tease the adults!"
Tch, does she really think I'm a child? I'm twenty-five years old! In terms of age and experience with men, I've had way more than him. She waved her hand dismissively and turned to leave. "Bye-bye! Wait for me, handsome. Don't worry, my chest will grow soon."
After leaving the Ouyang Residence and parting ways with Lan Ran Qingtian, she couldn't shake the feeling of regret. Damn it, if it were any other day, I would have already taken him down. She looked down at her flat chest and sighed, "Oh well, with this figure, no man would be interested!"
Right, Outer Village. Xiang Xueer opened the map that Qingtian had given her. It showed a winding route leading there. To get there from here, she would have to pass through nine villages and twelve homesteads. Not to mention, most of the journey would be through uninhabited mountains and hills.
She frowned as she looked at the map for a while. My God, it's going to take me around half of Izumo Kingdom! Come on, can someone give me a plane? A train would do too; if all else fails, I could settle for a bicycle.
Forget it; I'll just head to the first stop: Mist Village. This little village called Mist Village was about fifty miles south of her current location. She glanced at the sky; if she didn't hurry up, she might end up sleeping on the streets tonight.
Xiang Xueer quickened her pace and finally arrived before dark. At the entrance of the village stood a giant stone tablet inscribed with three characters: 'Mist Village.' She was exhausted and wanted to rest for a bit, but as soon as she stepped into the village, she immediately sensed something was off.
It was pitch black everywhere, and an eerie silence enveloped her. Xiang Xueer looked up at the moon in the sky and estimated it was probably around eleven at night. Even if people went to bed early, it was strange that there wasn't a single sound.
Xiang Xueer cautiously walked further into the village. On the straight road, small inns and homes had their doors shut tight; only a few lanterns flickered weakly by the roadside.
Isn't it said that in ancient times, people kept their doors open at night? Why does it seem so strange here? Xiang Xueer shook her head and knocked on the door of an inn called 'Lai Fu Inn.' Since it was so late, she might as well find a place to rest.
She knocked on the door for quite some time. Frowning, Xiang Xueer leaned against the door and listened intently; there was absolutely no response inside. "Hey! Is anyone there? Open up! I need a place to stay!"
Xiang Xueer went along the street, knocking on each shop's door one by one, but none would open for her. Frustrated, she kicked one of the doors and exclaimed, "What’s going on? Did everyone die in their sleep? There's not a single person around!"
"They really are sound asleep!" A crisp voice suddenly came from a man reaching out. She turned in surprise to see a boy around seventeen or eighteen years old, holding a long sword engraved with a green dragon. He wore a short grayish-blue outfit, and beneath his sword-like eyebrows were strikingly bright eyes. His bronze skin shone even more under the moonlight.
"Are you an Exorcist?" He glanced sideways at the family crest on Xiang Xueer's arm, sizing her up for a moment before asking in astonishment, "You're an Exorcist at such a young age?"
Xiang Xueer looked at him, completely baffled by the strange village and the strange person. Just as she was about to ask a question, a thick fog began to rise gradually, enveloping the entire street in just a few seconds.
"What’s going on?" Suddenly, from within the dense fog, a hand reached out and grabbed her tightly. Startled, she was about to fight back when she realized it was the boy from earlier.
"Come with me!" The boy put his finger to his lips to signal her not to make noise, then pulled her through the street as they ran frantically. Xiang Xueer struggled to break free from his grip and asked, "What are you doing? I don’t even know you... Why are you dragging me?"
"Shh!" The boy turned to look at a particularly dense area of fog at the street's entrance and raised his sword, saying, "He's coming! Be careful; this beast is very cunning."
What is coming? Beast? Xiang Xueer was confused, but even though she didn't know what it was, her sensitive nerves already sensed the approaching danger.
