Ziyu felt that his position was descending in the darkness, so he let out a sigh of relief.
It wouldn't be good if the statue just locked itself away and remained motionless.
The statue rotated as it descended, speeding up and then slowing down. After a long time, it finally came to a stop.
"Sir, based on the sensor measurements of the acceleration and calculations, we have descended at least seventy meters," Zero said.
"Seventy meters?" Ziyu felt a stir in his heart. What could be this deep?
The statue stabilized and then opened up in front of him again, allowing Ziyu to step out.
"Wow..." Ziyu stared wide-eyed at the scene before him...
The underground facility was technologically advanced, rivaling that of the organization’s spaceship interior; this was truly a high-tech world...
The light blue walls showcased a technological nature, while the white lights appeared somewhat dreamlike. The walls and floor were made of a material similar to metal.
The space here was vast; looking up at the ceiling, it must have been over fifty meters high. This area was completely sufficient for various activities.
Where Ziyu emerged was an enormous open space with nothing in sight, not even a single obstacle. However, even so, Ziyu couldn't see what lay in the distance; something limited his line of sight.
In this pitch-black and deep place, Ziyu walked alone.
"There's another one here." Ziyu spotted a Platform and then turned to look at the statue that had brought him here; there was an identical Platform beneath it as well.
"It seems that Maya believes humans serve the gods, so they won't disturb the statues, making the statues a passageway to here. This Platform should correspond to another pyramid's deity," Ziyu speculated.
The architectural style below made the statue that brought Ziyu feel quite out of place, creating a sense of incongruity.
One represented advanced technology, while the other represented ancient civilization.
"Where is the Energy Source?" Ziyu felt it was fascinating; it was already remarkable that such a thing existed in ancient times, and now it was still operational.
"Maybe it's solar energy..." Ziyu thought to himself.
Ziyu continued walking forward until he reached the end of the open space.
Before Ziyu was a massive rift, with no connecting path to traverse. However, on the other side...
The difference between his side and the opposite side was like that between a desert and a city; over there was entirely high-tech...
"Detecting source identity..." A female voice from Universal Language sounded, "Human, entry prohibited."
"Humans have intruded into the base. Use force measures to eliminate them," the female voice echoed again.
Weapons rose from Nearby Ground, all aimed at Ziyu.
"Damn..." Ziyu exclaimed in surprise but felt no fear.
Thinking about it, this was originally a place for the kings of Maya. They were conducting special activities here, so it was natural that they wouldn't allow humans to enter.
Violet Feather Armor has now canceled the Missile system, as Ziyu cannot carry a large number of small Missiles at all times. All Laser Systems of the Violet Feather Armor are activated, targeting all attacking devices for instant destruction.
“Energy Bridge System activated.”
A square frame formed between Ziyu and the opposite side, and a dim light covered the frame, resembling a bridge.
“Can this thing be walked on?” Ziyu asked curiously, taking a step forward.
As Ziyu placed one foot on this energy bridge, it felt soft yet solid.
“Humans have not been eliminated, increase security alert, shut down the energy bridge.” Just as Ziyu placed both feet on the bridge, a voice command was issued.
The energy bridge was instantly deactivated, and Ziyu nearly fell off but managed to reach solid ground thanks to the Power System.
“There are so many.” Looking back, Ziyu saw a dense array of weapons aimed at him; the defenses were indeed formidable.
Without hesitation, Ziyu took off and flew towards the opposite side, with the Laser weapons quickly destroying the rear weapons under Zero's assisted targeting.
“Calculate trajectory, evade.” Ziyu commanded.
After all… even if the Laser is fast, it cannot eliminate all weapons in an instant; some weapons had already fired bullets at Ziyu.
Ziyu's Battle Armor entered automatic mode, controlled by Zero to dodge the bullets. Zero's control and calculation abilities were beyond what Ziyu could match.
“Boom…”
Ziyu suddenly landed in a safe spot across the way.
"The human life signature has disappeared, ending." The voice echoed again.
It seemed that only the entrance side had a detection system, and it was designed without considering that someone could fly over.
During Maya's activities, human civilization was quite primitive.
"No one." Ziyu swaggered around here, with absolutely no signs of life.
"Please enter the password to view the logs." Ziyu walked to the innermost studio, which had a large space, and in the corner was an artificial Intelligence.
This artificial Intelligence was similar to the defensive artificial Intelligence outside; both were low-level working AIs that could basically only perform their designated tasks.
"Zero, brute force attack." Ziyu chuckled and said.
A brute force attack refers to an unrestricted high-speed attempt to guess passwords until the correct one is found.
This method is only applicable to low-level AIs or previous Earth technologies without Intelligence; advanced AIs would be able to detect it...
"Brute force attack successful." After five minutes, Zero announced.
The screen began to change, displaying a series of folders in a standard universal interface that was simple and convenient.
"Why is it lagging so much?" Ziyu sighed.
"The machine has been sitting here for too long and has already aged. Not to mention, my brute force attack has confused the Intelligence password system... It is still processing the massive amount of trial passwords," Zero said.
The Intelligence released access when it encountered the correct password, but it was still filtering through many incorrect ones...
"Finally done." Ziyu began to review the information inside.
This data used one revolution of Earth around the Sun as a unit of time, which is about a year. However, this unit is much more accurate than Earth's year; it represents the standard time for one complete orbit of Earth, without any discrepancy.
After several hundred units on Earth, Maya had gained a deep understanding of human souls. Unlike the Egyptians, they had developed their own understanding of their souls.
After a long period of development, Maya had freed themselves from whatever constraints were deep within their soul and began to pursue what they had always wanted to do—create tools to leave Earth.
After several generations of effort, Maya successfully ended their "Unfreedom," built a spaceship, and escaped from Earth.
"Is this considered an escape?" Ziyu silently remarked as they looked at Maya's strange achievement.

[PS: Because I want to gradually transition to something better, my writing speed has slowed down significantly. I haven't done much else today besides writing three chapters... just two games of Dota 2... Hehe... The word count isn't high but takes time, I'm sorry... I'll aim for two updates tomorrow; I need some more free time... Please understand.]
