"Sir, I suggest you don't go in, just to avoid any accidents..." The police officer was quite diligent, trying to persuade Ziyu.
"I will definitely go in, thank you for your concern, officer... Of course, I will prepare adequately before entering... I believe she will be fine." Ziyu still had a certain level of confidence in Ye Ling.
In the past, Ye Ling's shooting skills were not much weaker than Ziyu's swordsmanship; it was just that she hadn't developed any "gun aura" yet. However, Ziyu believed that Ye Ling could handle some Zombies with just a stick she picked up.
The police were indeed more efficient this time, as this was a matter of life and death for everyone... They set up iron fences on all streets and blocked off windows that might allow Zombies to jump out, keeping them under strict surveillance.
If any abnormal behavior was detected in the crowd, they would be detained for observation. Anyone displaying abnormal behavior in that area would be shot on sight! Those who moved too quickly or gathered in groups would be dealt with using grenades.
The police's strict lockdown did have some effect, but as long as the Zombies had no targets, they wouldn't move in large numbers, let alone reach the lockdown area. Therefore, it was estimated that there would still be many residents trapped inside.
"Officer, I want to enter the lockdown zone... Can you give me a gun for protection?" Ziyu wanted to investigate this matter and also had to rescue Ye Ling inside; she couldn't just watch Ye Ling turn into a Zombie.
"No," a police officer replied.
Ziyu knew she would be refused... but she didn't expect it to be so straightforward without any hesitation.
The lockdown zone could not afford to relax at any moment, so the police had called in many officers and military personnel to take turns guarding. Everyone was very tired.
"Please, I have family inside... How about this: if you see me coming over later, just shoot me on sight," Ziyu said resolutely.
"Then you won't come out?" The officer looked at Ziyu sideways.
"I want to be with her," Ziyu stated firmly.
Ziyu had Battle Armor, so she expected it would be fully charged soon; therefore, she would fly out instead of walking out shortly.
"Chief, it's rare to see someone so infatuated... how about we let them go?" A police officer softened a bit.
"This..." The chief fell into deep thought. "Alright... but if you die, it's not my responsibility."
"Thank you, Chief!" Ziyu laughed and went to the armory to pick up a Machine Gun, heading towards the Quarantine Zone. Meanwhile, the crowd that had stirred up due to Ziyu's situation was quickly suppressed by the police.
Now, Ziyu was equipped with Zero, and when the time came, all it would take was a command for the Battle Armor at home to receive the Signal and fly over on its own.
"Clank..." Ziyu held the Machine Gun in front of his chest, attaching a silencer and staying alert to the Nearby environment.
Due to the characteristics of these Zombies, not a single living Zombie had been captured so far. Ziyu was unaware of their traits, so he had to remain vigilant at all times.
"Sir, there are more than ten Zombies nearby, all inside the residential buildings. For now, you don't need to worry about them since they haven't noticed you... It seems as long as you don't make any noise to wake them up, they will remain in a daze." Zero had a radar system that could fully rely on ultrasonic and infrared sensors to detect the Nearby situation.
These Zombies were like fools as long as they had no targets.
They were left with only their biological instincts.
"Why is this happening? Where did it come from? There were no signs at all; it was just a normal day when this happened..." Ziyu found it quite strange.
Fortunately, these Zombies were still relatively "normal," lacking the invincible attributes seen in movies... They could simply be understood as bloodthirsty individuals who had lost their sanity.
"During the time of the incident, Ye Ling should be at school..." Ziyu headed towards the school.
"Sir, behind you!" Ziyu hadn't taken many steps when Zero warned him.
Ziyu suddenly turned around, raised the Machine Gun, and the metal loaded with zero rapidly extended, stabilizing Ziyu's arms like a support while aiming precisely.
"Bang!" A faint sound, and the Zombie was shot in the head, instantly killed.
"Thanks, Zero," Ziyu smiled.
If a bullet hit the Zombie's body, it would take a lot of effort to kill it, but a headshot was a simple and quick method.
"Sir, I just expanded the detection range and found many Zombies nearby... I designed the best route to encounter the fewest Zombies without alerting others in different areas... of course, this is under the condition that your aim is accurate."
"Alright, you will be in charge of guiding and assisting with aiming from now on!"
Sometimes Ziyu felt overly reliant on Zero's functions... but Ziyu truly needed it; after all, Zero was created by Ziyu. In a way, the help Zero provided could be seen as Ziyu helping itself.
"Let's check over there." Ziyu cautiously approached a Police Station, hoping to find something useful inside.
"Why is this happening only in this small town? Is it related to previous strange occurrences?" Ziyu couldn't understand. Logically, if this was caused by a virus outbreak, it should spread quickly and not result in such a localized outbreak.
"It's not airborne... otherwise, people outside wouldn't survive... and apart from the first batch of Zombies, the rest were infected after being attacked."
Ziyu entered the Police Station; there was no one inside. It seemed people had panicked and fled, only to be attacked outside.
Fortunately, there were some grenades and ammunition supplies here. Ziyu took some and quickly left; Ye Ling was always in danger.

At school, in the teaching building.
"Ye Ling, where did you learn this? It's really impressive..."
"I never expected someone as pretty as you to be so strong."
A group of people surrounded Ye Ling, chattering away. Ye Ling stood there in a daze, holding an iron rod stained with blood.
"Um... I practiced martial arts before..." Ye Ling really didn't know how to respond.
"We don't have any supplies, and if we stay trapped here for too long, we might starve to death." Ye Ling looked at the people; this was a serious issue.
Earlier, most of them had been outside when this sudden incident occurred. It was Ye Ling who led them to the safety of the classroom building and locked the doors and windows tightly, so they wouldn't be attacked for the time being. However, without food, there was still no solution.
In fact, Ye Ling was also very scared, but the more fear she felt, the stronger her explosive power became. She displayed strength surpassing most boys and unmatched skills, helping everyone take refuge inside.
Just as everyone was pondering how to survive safely...
"Bang! Bang!" The tightly shut iron door suddenly made noise; something was knocking from outside.
"Ye Ling! Ye Ling! Are you in there?" Ziyu knocked on the iron door.
The detection system identified a living being behind the iron door, and since its behavior was different from that of a Zombie, it confirmed that they were survivors. Ziyu believed that Ye Ling was likely inside the classroom building.
Ye Ling held the rod in one hand and opened a small gap with the other to look outside.
"Ziyu! You scared us to death." Ye Ling opened the door. "Isn't your place on the other side? It seems like that area wasn't affected; how did you get over here?"
"I was looking for you... I was worried something might happen to you." Ziyu looked at Ye Ling, "There are so many people here, right? You must be hungry. I'll go find something to eat for you all."
As Ziyu spoke, she raised the gun in her hand. "I have this."
Ziyu confirmed Ye Ling's safety, but she didn't intend to stop. Everyone needed food, and they had to get it sooner or later. They should hurry before it got dark.
"Hey..." Ye Ling called out to Ziyu, "Why are you being so nice to me? You know I have someone I like..."
"I remember... when we first met, you said I looked like someone..." Ziyu paused and asked, "Is that the person you like?"
Ye Ling nodded. "No one can replace him, even if they look and act just like him..."
"Thank you..." Ziyu said.
"Huh?" Ye Ling looked a bit confused.
"I mean, thank you for waiting for me all this time... It's been six years, right? But you're so silly; just because I don't go by Xiong Zhi anymore, you couldn't recognize me?" Ziyu laughed.
"I'm the person you've been waiting for... and you don't even recognize your husband, silly."
