Bai Yujing is a graphic designer who, aside from his regular design work, also takes on freelance illustration and web design projects. He leads a monotonous life, commuting between his office and dormitory, spending most of his time in front of a computer. Although his income is decent with the extra work, he feels quite repressed and thinks it's time for a change.
While Bai Yujing hesitates and struggles to make a decision, a webpage suddenly pops up on his work computer. It features a very cartoonish 2D interface filled with various Exotic Creatures, resembling a promotional page for some kind of mini-game.
"Exotic Creature Hunter, what are you waiting for? Join me in searching for Exotic Creatures around the world!"
Bai Yujing generally doesn't enjoy playing online games; aside from occasionally playing League of Legends, he is only interested in more relaxing casual games. This webpage game looks quite exquisite, and its art style aligns perfectly with Bai Yujing's preferences. He isn't worried about viruses since he is quite familiar with computers; if he gets infected, he can just reinstall the system, as all important files are synced to the cloud.
Suddenly, the screen flickers with white light, and he sees the webpage open and then close instantly. "No way, could it really be a Trojan virus?"
Just as Bai Yujing prepares to unplug the internet cable and perform a complete system wipe and reinstall, he hears a mechanical voice in his mind: "Exotic Creature Hunter installing..."
It feels as though a loading bar appears on his retina, with blue liquid surging beneath it until it fills completely. Then, he sees a game interface frame appear on his retina, along with a mouse cursor hovering in the center.
"System flow, protagonist treatment!" As someone deeply influenced by online literature and various anime films of the new era, Bai Yujing quickly realizes what has happened; he just never expected such an event to occur to him.
After clicking to open the game, he sees a blue sphere—Earth. The Earth image twists and zooms in until it settles on a specific area in Europe. Bai Yujing immediately searches on his computer and finds the corresponding location: the capital of Scotland—Edinburgh, a famous cultural city.
Main Quest 1: Head to the destination and search for E-level Exotic Creatures—Leprechaun. Reward: 50 points.
Side Quest 1: Have a friendly conversation with Leprechaun and exchange information. Reward: 20 points.
Side Quest 2: Find the legendary Little People Kingdom's address. Reward: 80 points.
Edinburgh? That's quite far away. Fortunately, Bai Yujing has a passport; his previous boss valued him highly and took him along on a business trip to Singapore once. So all he needs is to apply for a tourist visa and round-trip tickets. However, this trip won't be cheap; Bai Yujing has 130,000 yuan saved up, which he originally intended to use as a down payment for a car but doesn't want to waste it like this.
Bai Yujing isn't sure what these points are useful for. He notices there’s a shop in the bottom right corner. Upon clicking it, he sees three categories: Wealth, Body, and Skills. In Wealth, there are various currencies like RMB, GBP, USD that can be exchanged; additionally, properties and companies from different places can also be redeemed using points—one point equals ten thousand RMB.
The Body category allows adjustments to physical attributes including appearance modification, body shape adjustment, and constitution adjustment. The cheapest appearance optimization costs thirty points, but since Bai Yujing currently has zero points, he can only look at it for now.
The skills available are numerous, including categories like cooking, martial arts, languages, and more. Each category contains various subcategories; for instance, cooking is divided into Chinese and Western styles, which include Sichuan cuisine, Cantonese cuisine, pasta, and so on. The same applies to martial arts and languages. However, even the cheapest skills are measured in tens.
Bai Yujing adjusted his gaze and discovered a reminder above: Beginner's Package. Bai Yujing thought to himself that this was indeed available. After clicking on it, thirty points appeared immediately, along with a note about mastering English.
There was nothing else below that. After clicking to claim it, Bai Yujing saw the points continuously increasing from 0 to 30 before stopping. A stream of information flooded into his mind regarding English vocabulary, grammar usage, and speaking skills. Bai Yujing had learned this during his studies but had never paid much attention to it; he could only write some words and sentences, while his speaking skills were quite poor. After starting work, he had completely forgotten everything. At this moment, it felt as if he was learning everything anew from start to finish.
Bai Yujing immediately searched for English articles online and found that he could read through them without needing to consult a dictionary. He even read aloud softly, as if the language had taken root in his memory just like Chinese, becoming instinctual.

Bai Yujing rushed to the Human Resources Department and asked the HR Sister for a resignation form. The HR Sister was a cute girl with a bit of baby fat who looked very adorable. "I have a question; are there any requirements for resigning? Can I leave immediately?"
"That definitely won't work; you must give a month's notice in advance and complete the handover process. If you resign urgently, you won't receive your salary," the HR Sister replied immediately. Although Bai Yujing was somewhat thin, he stood at 1.78 meters tall with prominent features that gave him a bit of charm. He usually spoke humorously and got along well with everyone, so he had some popularity.

Lao Zhou pretended to be enthusiastic and tried repeatedly to persuade Bai Yujing to stay. When emotional appeals didn't work on him, his expression immediately turned serious. "You should coordinate with Human Resources for your handover; let Wang Yi know about the progress of your current tasks."
Leaving with an expression that showed he was quite unhappy, Bai Yujing just sat down when his colleagues immediately surrounded him. "No way! Xiao Bai left just like that without any warning!"
Wang Yi was a handsome young man with a high nose bridge and glasses. "What made you decide so suddenly? Have you thought about what you'll do next?"
