Martians Kairuot clearly states in the "Prologue" that Graphene Memory Storage is an important "gift" for the descendants of Maya. As one of the fortunate recipients of this "gift," it depends on future research and breakthroughs. To uncover the hidden secrets within this "gift," Professor Du Yuesheng is powerless and must rely on Professor Lin Sen and others to complete the task. His current mission is to translate the Kairuote Diary as quickly as possible to see if he can discover the unknown secrets contained in the "gift" from the Martians, and he must ensure that this "gift" does not remain buried forever.
The diary begins when Kairuot is 35 years old. According to the Martian calendar, this corresponds to the year 796 AD in the Earth calendar. A day on Mars is 39 minutes and 35.244 seconds longer than a day on Earth, with both planets having similar rotational periods. A Martian year consists of 668.5907 Martian days, resulting in a Martian calendar year of 24 months, which aligns perfectly with Earth's 24 solar terms. Each month has four weeks, and each week has seven days, just like Earth. Therefore, the starting date of the diary corresponds to the spring equinox in Earth's 24 solar terms, which is determined to be March 21.
On March 21, 796 AD, Kairuot, who had just turned 35, was selected to attend Mars's most prestigious school—Mars Alliance School, where he would study in a junior class.
The diary describes that Mars Alliance School is located at Mars's North Pole, bordered by mountains on one side and surrounded by water on three sides. The climate there is warm, with spring-like weather year-round and beautiful scenery. This day marks the season of blooming flowers; upon entering the campus, one is greeted by a large flowerbed filled with various beautiful flowers in vibrant colors, their fragrances refreshing and invigorating.
As one walks further, a large circular plaza comes into view, surrounded by many unknown trees adorned with red, white, and yellow flowers. It is introduced as a place for students to relax and engage in activities. Within the school are several tall ancient trees reaching towards the sky, drawing attention.
The school also features artificially constructed unique mountains and stones, with flowing streams creating picturesque scenery. The school's architecture is distinctive; the teaching building resembles medieval Gothic architecture from Earth and stands eight stories tall, topped by a three-story bell tower with a high spire, making it the tallest building on campus. Not far from the teaching building are classrooms. The classroom building is also noteworthy; it is a four-story structure with geometric designs incorporating technological elements.
Of course, there are dormitory buildings for students to ensure that every enrolled student has their own room. The walls of the school are adorned with various Maya decorative patterns depicting historical stories, famous quotes, technological totems, flora and fauna, all rich in cultural atmosphere. The most striking feature is the cluster of buildings resembling Golden Tower surrounding the campus, which stand out brilliantly under sunlight.
Mars Alliance School belongs to Mars Alliance. This school does not belong to any specific ethnic group. In simple terms, Mars Alliance functions like a United Nations for Mars but differs fundamentally from Earth's United Nations. Mars Alliance represents an alliance of all ethnic groups on Mars. It is the most universal, representative, and authoritative international organization of a political nature on Mars.
To join Mars Alliance, an ethnic group's population must reach at least 100,000 people; it does not pertain to individual countries or sovereignty. Gaining admission to Mars Alliance School is quite challenging; one must be among the best in their ethnic group and pass through rigorous assessments conducted by Mars Alliance School, ensuring that only top talents among Martians gain entry.
Kairuot is considered talented but also the most mischievous among his three brothers. He is the son of Kairo Tribe leader Kairuoka. Kairuoka has three sons: the eldest is Kairuwen, the second is Kairou Wu, and Kairuot is the youngest. From their names, it can be inferred that Kairuoka hopes his eldest son will be cultured and knowledgeable while his second son will possess martial prowess suitable for battle; as for his youngest son, due to his unique appearance—particularly strong and endearing with a sweet tongue—he has become his father's favorite.
This youngest son is very naughty and headstrong, often causing trouble; however, due to a lack of maternal love, Kairuoka has always indulged him. He wishes for his precious son Kairuot to stay by his side forever. Yet this youngest son possesses remarkable intelligence; despite having lower cognitive abilities compared to others, he excels in both academics and martial skills beyond his two older brothers. This time around at Mars Alliance School, which has global admissions, Kairuot passed all assessments successfully and was fortunate enough to be admitted while his two older brothers did not make it.
Kairuot's Diary is indeed beautifully written. The entry from March 21, for instance, flows effortlessly with several thousand words, showcasing Maya culture to its fullest. Professor Du Yuesheng shook his head in disbelief, saying, "It's a shame you aren't a literary figure."
The first diary entry took Professor Du Yuesheng over a day to translate. Looking at the 200 years and nearly 140,000 entries, it became clear that based on his progress on the first day, it would be absolutely impossible for him to complete this task alone within his lifetime. He spent more than half a month categorizing and packaging the diaries by year, copying them onto over 200 USB Drives, and assigning his colleagues and students to help with the translation, collectively accomplishing this task.
With over 200 years of records, Kairuot's Diary contains vast content that covers Martian culture, geography, and customs. It also documents the trivialities, minor events, and significant happenings of the Martians, including notable historical events such as their wars. Particularly poignant is Kairuot's tragic love story, which brings readers to tears and is considered a classic of love among the Martians.
Once translated, Kairuot's Diary holds significant literary value for Earthlings, as well as historical research value regarding Mars and the Martians. Consequently, after Professor Du Yuesheng compiled Kairuot's Diary into the publication titled 《A Century of Martian History》, it received considerable acclaim from readers.
