Leaving Fang Ru's room, the Ancient Sorcerer walked into the piano room and casually closed the door behind him.
The Black Snake in his hand was tightly clamped, leaving no way to struggle. Looking at the entire tail wrapped around his arm, the Ancient Sorcerer found it extremely strange.
The snake seemed like a black shadow, formed from swirling energy, not quite tangible. Yet oddly enough, the Ancient Sorcerer felt as if he were holding a real snake; its coldness and the pressure it exerted on his arm felt very real.
"I wonder how Luo Tian is doing now."
Recalling previous events, the Ancient Sorcerer glanced at Luo Tian and exclaimed in surprise as he noticed the patterns of the sun, moon, and Four Divine Beasts on Luo Tian.
The Azure Dragon is the god of the East and one of the Four Divine Beasts, located in the east. It resembles a dragon and is associated with wood and the color blue, hence its name. Another name for it is Canglong. The White Tiger is the god of the West and one of the Four Divine Beasts, located in the west. It resembles a tiger and is associated with metal and the color white. The Vermilion Bird is the god of the South and one of the Four Divine Beasts, located in the south. It resembles a bird, often referring to a phoenix, and is associated with fire and the color red. As for Xuanwu, it is the god of the North and one of the Four Divine Beasts, located in the north. It resembles a tortoise-snake hybrid and is associated with water and the color black; "Xuan" means black.
"Why didn't I notice these things on Luo Tian before? Do they only appear when my life is under great threat? And what about absorbing my spiritual power?"
These thoughts raced through the Ancient Sorcerer's mind as he sought answers but found none after a long while.
Since discovering that Luo Tian had appeared on his Yintang, it had shown some abnormalities during this time but remained completely uncontrollable. It was like this before, and it was like this today—initially, it had actively absorbed that Black Snake.
If Luo Tian's power was immense, then why had it previously been forced into a position where it could not fight back against darkness? He had nearly died himself. Of course, in the end, Luo Tian had inexplicably absorbed his spiritual power, transforming into images of the sun, moon, and Four Divine Beasts, allowing him to survive.
"And what about those spells that surged into my mind earlier? Could it be that Luo Tian can level up by absorbing things like Black Snake and then pass on more knowledge of spells to me as its level increases?"
Despite having many questions, the Ancient Sorcerer instinctively felt that this guess was correct. However, he soon faced another headache: what exactly could Luo Tian "absorb"? For instance, earlier Luo Tian had absorbed Black Qi Serpent, but now that Black Qi Serpent was right in his hand, yet it remained indifferent!
So far, every instance of absorption by Luo Tian had been spontaneous and completely unresponsive to commands.
"Smack!"
He slapped his forehead hard and decided to give up searching for answers. Luo Tian was mysterious and troublesome, but one thing was certain: for now, he would not be able to understand it. Since that was the case, he might as well not trouble himself; after all, this Luo Tian only brought him benefits without any drawbacks—despite today's events proving it was somewhat unreliable; otherwise, he wouldn't have nearly died.
The door was gently pushed open, and Gu Fei walked in. The Ancient Sorcerer looked up and saw Fang Ru following behind. At this point, Fang Ru had already put on her clothes.
As if it were a prank, after Gu Fei entered, she stepped aside, "revealing" Fang Ru behind her, then tightly pursed her lips, saying nothing, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
Before entering, Fang Ru had been trying hard to prepare herself mentally: although what had just happened was quite embarrassing, it was for the sake of healing, so there was no need to worry about it. However, when faced with the Ancient Sorcerer, she realized that all of that preparation was useless.

Yet even if Gu Fei was being deliberate, the Ancient Sorcerer couldn't do anything about it. She still had to speak first; after all, she couldn't let Fang Ru speak first.
"Um... you don't have any issues now, right?"
Fang Ru breathed a sigh of relief; if she remained silent any longer, she would probably flee in embarrassment. She nodded and said, "Yeah, I'm fine. This... is what was... drawn out from my body?"
Fang Ru's face turned red as she recalled what Gu Fei had said earlier about how the Ancient Sorcerer had drawn it out from between her legs—though it had been from behind, it was still too embarrassing to think about.
"Yes, that's correct."
The Ancient Sorcerer pretended not to notice Fang Ru's discomfort, as if what she said was completely normal, like pulling a thorn out of Fang Ru's hand.
Gu Fei secretly found it amusing; both Fang Ru and the Ancient Sorcerer were playing dumb. However, she understood that she absolutely could not say anything to "stimulate" either of them further—especially Fang Ru—otherwise Fang Ru would definitely retaliate against her later; she had already played a small trick on her earlier.
"Ancient Sorcerer, what exactly is this Black Qi Serpent?"
Taking a deep breath, Fang Ru pointed at the Ancient Sorcerer's hand where the Black Qi Serpent was coiled. It was already on the verge of death but still about a meter long. She couldn't imagine how this thing had ended up inside her body.
"This... is quite complex, but you can think of it as something formed from resentment or vengeful spirits. Of course, in traditional terms, it should be considered a type of curse."
Despite having inherited a considerable amount of sorcery, how vast is the world of magic? Ancient Sorcerer only understands a tiny fraction of it, so he cannot truly grasp what is happening; he can only be certain that this is definitely some kind of curse.
Fang Ru's heart slowly sank as her worries became reality. As an archaeologist, she had heard too many "legends" regarding this matter.
A curse, it really is a curse!
After a long silence, Fang Ru said, “Jiang Tiesheng... was it also because of a curse that he fell ill?”
Ancient Sorcerer gently nodded and replied, “Yes.”
“Is it possible that there are others who might also be cursed?”
Fang Ru looked at herself with concern. Ancient Sorcerer understood what answer she wanted to hear, but he had no way to provide it. He shook his head and said, “I really don’t know about that.”
“Oh.”
Fang Ru felt quite heavy-hearted. The previous archaeological expedition was initiated by her; if anyone in the Archaeological Team encountered problems, it would all be her responsibility. How could she live with that on her conscience?
“Fang Ru, you don’t need to worry too much. Even if something really goes wrong, there’s still Ancient Sorcerer here. If he can heal you, he can surely heal others as well.”
Looking at Gu Fei, Fang Ru nodded but sighed again without saying anything further; her expression remained incredibly heavy.
