“Gu Fei, what's wrong?”
Leaving Zhong Wenxin's villa, Ancient Sorcerer hurried to Guanghai City Maternal and Child Hospital, bursting into Gu Fei's office.
“Hurry, we need to find Fang Ru.”
Gu Fei had been restless for a while. Seeing Ancient Sorcerer come in, she immediately jumped up and headed outside. Noticing her urgency, Ancient Sorcerer understood the situation was critical and followed closely behind without saying much.
About ten minutes later, Ancient Sorcerer and Gu Fei arrived at Guanghai University's Professor Housing Area, at Fang Ru's room.
“Ah!!!!”

As soon as they entered, a series of strange cries echoed. Ancient Sorcerer's expression darkened instantly; having spent several months with Fang Ru, he recognized her voice immediately.
“What happened?”
After finishing his job as Fang Ru's bodyguard and returning to Guanghai City, he hadn't contacted her again, but it was clear now that something serious had occurred.
“Gu Fei, you’re here! Please tell me what’s going on.”
The door was opened by an elderly woman in her sixties, who bore a resemblance to Fang Ru. Ancient Sorcerer guessed she must be Fang Ru's mother.
“Auntie, don’t worry. Fang Ru is fine; I’ve brought someone to check on her.”
Gu Fei then turned to Ancient Sorcerer: “Ancient Sorcerer, this is Fang Ru's mother, Xie Hongru.”
"Hello, Aunt."
Xie Hongru immediately reached out with both hands to tightly grasp the Ancient Sorcerer, tears streaming down her face as she trembled and said, "Mr. Luo, I’m counting on you. This is my precious daughter; if anything happens to her, what am I supposed to do?"
"Aunt, please don't panic. Let the Ancient Sorcerer take a look at Fang Ru first."
The Ancient Sorcerer nodded and said, "Aunt, Gu Fei is right. I'll take a look first."
"Alright, alright, Gu Fei, please take the Ancient Sorcerer to see Fang Ru."
Xie Hongru steadied herself; she understood the reasoning behind it.
After helping Xie Hongru sit down on the sofa, Gu Fei led the Ancient Sorcerer inside. However, they did not head towards the bedroom but rather to a small room.
"Since Fang Ru fell ill, she has been screaming non-stop. There’s a music room at her home, so she can only stay here where the soundproofing is better."
As soon as Gu Fei opened the door, a deafening scream erupted from within, as if it could shatter eardrums.
Looking ahead, they found Fang Ru sitting in a chair. Her expression was calm, but her mouth would open from time to time to let out loud screams—this situation was truly bizarre.
"Three days ago, Fang Ru fainted while teaching her students. She regained consciousness before reaching the hospital and seemed fine, so she went home to rest. Who would have thought that in the middle of the night she suddenly fell ill again and couldn't stop screaming? Other than that, there are no other symptoms. To put it simply, Fang Ru is very aware but her mouth doesn’t seem to belong to her; it's as if someone else is forcibly 'opening' her mouth to scream."
Once inside the music room, Gu Fei casually closed the door and briefly introduced Fang Ru's condition to the Ancient Sorcerer. After Fang Ru fell ill, she received Xie Hongru's call immediately. However, when she arrived, she was at a loss for what to do. In desperation, she recalled how the Ancient Sorcerer had miraculously cured Kong Ying's son and decided to call for him.
"God... oh... I... wow..."
Seeing the Ancient Sorcerer enter, Fang Ru wanted to say something but couldn’t complete a single sentence; various cries and strange sounds interrupted her speech. Saliva dripped from her open mouth onto her clothes, yet apart from a hint of anxiety on her face, she remained calm. The stark contrast made the situation even more unsettling.
Ancient Sorcerer had a tight expression, showing no emotion as he approached Fang Ru and asked, "Did you feel anything unusual beforehand?"
Fang Ru nodded heavily—though he couldn't articulate it, nodding was still acceptable.
"Did it start happening after you returned from the excavation?"
Seeing Fang Ru nod again, Ancient Sorcerer's face grew even darker.
Fang Ru's previous archaeological target was the Stone Man, but the project was halted when Jiang Tiesheng suffered a heart attack due to a "ghost strike." After returning to Guanghai City, Ancient Sorcerer thought that matter was behind them, but now it seemed that things were far from over; in fact, they might have just begun.
Jiang Tiesheng was part of the excavation team and had already been cursed at the site. Could it be that Fang Ru was also cursed, and that the curse was only now starting to take effect?
Curses are one of the significant challenges faced by archaeologists, and throughout history, many archaeologists have died because of them.
One of the most famous cases is the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, located within the Egyptian Pyramid.
In January 1921, British archaeologist Dr. Howard Carter finally uncovered the tomb of ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings. Along with it came thousands of ancient treasures that shocked the world. However, what awaited the entire Archaeological Team were numerous bizarre deaths; aside from Carter himself, others died under various mysterious circumstances. His daughter’s suicide on Christmas left a chilling message: "I can no longer endure the torment of the Pharaoh."
The Stone Man serves as a vessel for an ancient sorcerer. Liu Bowen sealed it and set up a grand formation; if there were a curse associated with that place, it would not be surprising.
Jiang Tiesheng's "ghost strike" was indeed one of the curses, and Fang Ru's current condition was likely caused by it as well.
"Is Professor Jiang alright?"
Fang Ru nodded again. At this moment, Gu Fei, who was nearby, interjected, "I know Professor Jiang too. After Fang Ru had issues, I contacted him and confirmed he is fine. Not just him; none of the members of the Archaeological Team who went with Fang Ru experienced any problems."
Ancient Sorcerer let out a slight sigh of relief. If this was indeed a curse, its power seemed manageable. Conversely, if many people were experiencing issues right now, then things would be serious.
"It is likely a curse."
"Was it during that archaeological dig when you were a bodyguard?"
That bodyguard job was introduced by Gu Fei, so she naturally knew.
"Yes, that's right. I suspect it has something to do with that archaeological dig."
"Ah... I see... wow..."
The Ancient Sorcerer and Gu Fei exchanged wry smiles as they watched Fang Ru scream and gesture.
"What do you want to say?"
Fang Ru pointed at her own body, and then her face suddenly turned red, even her head drooped down, as if she had encountered something difficult to speak about.
"This... are you saying there is some change in your body?"
The Ancient Sorcerer tried to ask, but was surprised to find she guessed correctly; Fang Ru nodded heavily.
"Let me take a look first."
There are differences between men and women. Since the Ancient Sorcerer is a woman, it would naturally be inconvenient for her to look if it involved changes in the body.
