Xia Yuhan heard the news, and the stone in her heart finally fell to the ground.
At least the enemies lurking in the dark knew that the death of the black-clothed men they sent out had little to do with her, and they would not be in a hurry to take action against her for now.
She linked arms with Second Madam and respectfully bid farewell to Madam.
Sitting nearby, Xia Wan'er could no longer contain herself. She rushed over without distinguishing right from wrong and attempted to slap Xia Yuhan, shouting, “scoundrel!”
However, to her surprise, Xia Yuhan did not allow her to continue her rampage. Instead, she intercepted Xia Wan'er's hand mid-air and did not waste any more words: “Sister, in my opinion, you won't be able to attend the Flower Viewing Banquet in half a month. Even if you do go, who would want to look at a sister who has lost all dignity?”
“Xia Yuhan, don’t get carried away!”
Xia Wan'er struggled desperately to break free from Xia Yuhan's tight grip on her arm, wishing she could slap her a few more times.
Xia Yuhan, however, ignored Xia Wan'er's attacks and coldly looked at Madam: “Madam, it would be easy to kill Yu Han. Why specifically send black-clothed men to kill Yu Han? If it weren't for the expert who came to help last night, I might have died at the city gate today!”
Madam was clearly infuriated by Xia Yuhan, her face pale, but she still tried hard to control her emotions.
“Impudent! Xia Yuhan, don’t slander me! How could I ever hire someone to commit murder? Stop spreading false accusations here!”
Xia Yuhan remained calm and leisurely replied: “Madam, how could Yu Han dare to spread false accusations? Everything Yu Han said is true! If it weren't for the black-clothed men hired by Madam encountering several other groups of black-clothed men, Yu Han would have never known that it was Madam who hired someone to kill!”
“I heard with my own ears that when the black-clothed men sent by Madam were calling out their signals with other groups of black-clothed men, one of them even asked, ‘Are these people sent by Madam?’ After confirming they were not, that’s when the black-clothed experts started fighting each other.”
Madam really couldn't understand why Xia Yuhan was being blamed for everything. The matter with the man in black had nothing to do with her; why was she so anxious?
She couldn't panic!
After gathering her thoughts, Madam glared at Xia Yuhan: "Don't think that just because you are Xia Manor's Second Sister, I won't dare to report you to the Official Government for falsely accusing an elder!"
At that moment, a roar shook everyone in the room: "Enough! This matter is not to be discussed any further!"
Everyone in the room, except for Xia Yuhan, was taken aback. Wasn't General Xia supposed to be out? Why was he back now?
"Chen Yu, I, Xia Zhongguo, never expected you to be such a venomous person! Yu Han, you don't need to pursue this matter. Chen Yu is not allowed to cause trouble. Anyone who stirs up trouble will be immediately thrown out of the General's residence!"
With that, General Xia angrily walked into the room, picked up his sword that he had left behind, and stormed out.
Xia Yuhan knew that General Xia would return for his sword, but she didn't expect him to come back so quickly, just as she was running out of things to say!
She met Madam's nearly fiery gaze and absentmindedly said, "Madam, Yu Han didn't know that Daddy would return at this time; otherwise, she wouldn't have said such nonsense to you. I'm sorry, Madam."
"Xia Yuhan, don't think that just because I've lost the General's trust, I can't deal with you!"
Xia Yuhan merely nodded lightly and discreetly helped the already frightened Second Madam out of the room.
