By the evening, the entire camp became lively. Thirty-seven people had already arrived, sent by Daniel. While it may not seem like many, there were only fifty-one names on his list, so having this many show up exceeded his expectations.
This demonstrated just how skilled Daniel was at potion-making. Each of these individuals was a top figure in the academy, all of whom possessed outstanding abilities.
Anyone receiving a rescue mission would send people to offer numerous benefits to invite them, yet they still chose to come personally to support Daniel.
With Daniel's Mental Power at only 80 points, he should be the weakest among those who received rescue missions, relying solely on his reputation in potion-making.
Their presence already gave Daniel considerable face, so he generously hosted a banquet for them. Once everyone had arrived, Daniel raised his glass and spoke first.
"Thank you all for coming; it is an honor for me. This time, with the Six Great Wizard Towers invading the academy, I received a mission to provide support. Aware of my own limitations and knowing I cannot bear such a heavy responsibility alone, I specifically invited you all here to ask for your help. What do you think?"
Those who came were already well aware of Daniel's intentions. After exchanging glances, Osmon took the lead and asked, "I am quite busy and initially did not plan to get involved in these matters. However, since it is you, I cannot refuse. I just want to know what benefits you can offer us. I've received invitations from more than one person; I need to choose one that is advantageous for me."
He took out seven or eight invitations and tapped them in his hand. Osmon had his reasons for pride; he had been in the academy for nearly zero years and had already reached 9 points of Mental Power, surpassing most others in the academy. If it weren't for bad luck, he would have long become a Wizard Seed.
Even so, no one dared to look down on him; these seven or eight invitations were proof of his standing.
According to Daniel's estimates, there were only about a dozen people in the entire academy capable of taking on rescue missions. The fact that he received so many invitations showed his abilities.
These seven or eight invitations were from those who believed they might be able to persuade him; as for those who thought they had no connection with him and would never invite him for help, they had no interest in doing so and would only embarrass themselves.
Another individual wrapped in a Wizard Robe spoke up—a blonde beauty named Lucia—"Yes, Daniel, you need to be clear with us."
Lucia was also a top figure in the academy with 94 points of Mental Power, far exceeding that of ordinary individuals. She and Osmon were the two strongest among the thirty-seven attendees.
The remaining individuals were not weak either; the lowest among them had at least 75 points of Mental Power, with most exceeding 80 points. However, they paled in comparison to the two leaders.
"I believe none of you can escape this mission; the only difference is where you choose to go," she continued.
Everyone nodded in agreement. The invasion by the Six Great Wizard Towers was beyond what hundreds or thousands of apprentices could handle; the academy had to go all out, and all apprentices would receive missions.
What sets Daniel apart is that he received a commanding mission, personally announced by the mentor, calling for Wizard Apprentice to join him. Other apprentices could only take on tasks individually or form teams to go.
The rewards for team formation depended solely on the team's contribution to the mission, while Daniel's rewards would be based on overall performance.
Although commanding missions were relatively more difficult, the rewards were also quite substantial.
"I can fully prepare three potions for both of you, while the others will have two chances each. However, the materials needed for the potions must be gathered by yourselves. Are you all satisfied with this?"
The remaining individuals had no objections and were quite pleased with Daniel's offer. Although there were only two chances, they could purchase ordinary potions at the academy. The opportunity to have Daniel prepare potions for them was rare; if they used them sparingly, two chances would last them a long time.
Moreover, if they didn't need to use them, they could sell them. It was likely that someone would pay a high price to have Daniel concoct potions for them.
"Since everyone agrees, please go back and prepare. We will depart in three days. At that time, I will apply for a Floating Ship to transport us."
He raised his glass in a toast, and everyone followed suit, very satisfied with the outcome.
Having successfully secured the skilled individuals needed for this mission, Daniel began promoting within the academy again, preparing to recruit as many apprentices as possible to support him.
He had already received news that for this invasion of the Wizard Tower, each dispatched apprentice would number no less than 1,000. Daniel needed to lead at least 5,000 people, if not more, to stand a chance against them; otherwise, it would just be a suicide mission.
Fortunately, it was easy to gather these ordinary apprentices. Daniel simply sent out a Minotaur to stand at the entrance and shout loudly.
"Professor Daniel invites all apprentices to join him in resisting the attack from the Totonis Empire Wizard Tower. He will teach you magical knowledge during his free time. Interested apprentices are welcome to join."
Such blatant recruitment infuriated others who had received commanding missions but left them powerless.
Daniel was directly offering benefits. They wanted to learn too, but what could they offer in return?
Even if each person offered a single Magic Stone, it wouldn't suffice. A single Magic Stone might seem insignificant, but every Wizard Apprentice typically possessed dozens or even hundreds of Magic Stones worth of assets.
However, considering the sheer number needed—recruiting two or three thousand people would require 1,000 Magic Stones, which exceeded the total wealth of many Wizard Apprentices. Even if they had money, they couldn't spend it like that. This didn’t even account for hiring skilled individuals with their higher costs.
As for other offerings, they had nothing compelling to attract others. They weren't adept at teaching; although they had learned a bit about Pharmacology and Alchemy, their knowledge was limited to personal use and couldn't compare to Daniel's expertise.
To learn witchcraft knowledge for free, many people signed up with Daniel, quickly surpassing 4,000 participants. By the time they were about to set off, the number had exceeded 5,000. Daniel was quite satisfied with this result.
Only a little over a dozen people were able to accept the commander mission. With 40,000 apprentices in the academy, on average, each person had no more than two thousand subordinates, and this included those who took on logistical tasks in the academy and were not preparing to go to the front lines.
Being able to rally 5,000 people was enough for him. After all, when it came to confronting the Totonis Empire and the Wizard Tower, he would not be the only one.
All those who accepted the commander mission had already met up; he and another person, Eric, would jointly respond to the attacks from the Totonis Empire and the Wizard Tower.
Ideally, when the Six Great Wizard Towers invaded, the best approach would be to assign six people to take on commander missions, each leading a group of Wizard Apprentices against a corresponding Wizard Tower.
However, the academy was not a united front; outstanding Wizard Apprentices did not yield to one another.
Just like now, as Daniel displayed such great potential, Aubrey ignored him since Daniel had snatched away his chance to become a Wizard Seed.
Others also had their own grievances.
This led the academy to choose only a little over a dozen of the most prestigious individuals, each gathering their own teams to confront the Wizard Tower independently.
