Natalie saw Daniel refining herbs and felt curious, so she asked, "What are you doing? Is this how you refine potions?"
Daniel stirred the mixture inside, looked up casually, and said, "Isn't this normal? There aren't so many rules in potion-making. As long as you understand the changes in various herbs and know what you're doing, you can refine them however you like. Why bother with the process?"
Natalie pouted; he was really talking nonsense. If it were that simple, there would be qualified Pharmacists everywhere. The reality is that there are very few qualified Pharmacists around.
"How many times have you experimented to understand the changes in the herbs?"
"None. I don't have the time to repeatedly test the changes in materials. However, just because I haven't done experiments doesn't mean I'm not aware of how materials change. I've read extensively and have almost absorbed all the data in the library."
You really know how to boast, Natalie thought, completely unconvinced. The library has at least tens of thousands of books; no one can read through an entire library. To fully comprehend them and turn that knowledge into personal understanding is even more impossible.
Fortunately, Daniel didn't expect her to believe him; he continued refining the potion while explaining.
"Take the brain of the Eye Demon, for example. Many people need to carefully measure it when using it, observe its age, and finally determine how much is needed before adding it at a specific time.
However, for me, it's not necessary to do so. As long as I understand the process of material changes, I can add it at the required time without following a set schedule."
Natalie watched closely and indeed noticed that Daniel's addition of each herb did not follow any specific pattern.
Natalie had refined Mental Potions before and had some understanding of the entire process, but she had never seen anyone refine potions like he did.
He added each herb randomly; when he noticed something was lacking, he would add a bit more. Sometimes he even added a little from previous steps.
As for stirring, there was no caution typical of potion-making; he stirred casually, mixing a bit on one side and then on the other while occasionally picking out impurities from inside.
Watching him made her anxious; this was not how potions were refined at all. Natalie questioned herself—if she were refining it this way, she would ruin it ten times out of ten. Just avoiding making poison would be good enough.
Eventually, as Daniel turned off the heat, a batch of potion was successfully refined. He dipped a bit and tasted it, saying, "Not bad; the potency is moderate. If the materials were a bit better, I could probably refine a superior potion."
Gather all the Mental Potions, a total of five vials. Daniel asked someone to help transport them to the shop in Furnal. He explained his insights on potion brewing to the other apprentices once again, and the two left the alchemy area amidst the admiration of their peers.
"You're not just an ordinary Second-Level Apprentice, are you?" Natalie said.
Daniel shrugged. "I guess not. I'm Maxwell Mentor's favorite apprentice, renowned as the most outstanding and talented Apothecary Apprentice in the academy."
Natalie understood why Maxwell arranged for Daniel to host her.
"Aside from Pharmacology, you must be good at other subjects too!"
"Of course! I'm actually quite knowledgeable about other areas, like lightning. In my understanding, it can be divided into three main categories. The lowest level is ordinary lightning, like the lightning in the sky that apprentices use.
Next up are Five Elements Thunder and Demon Lightning. These types of lightning usually possess another attribute, transformed from something else, carrying characteristics of two attributes and immense power that is difficult for ordinary people to defend against. If one can master this kind of lightning, they would be formidable among apprentices."
At this point, Daniel paused and glanced at her. Natalie was engrossed in his explanation and couldn't help but ask, "What about the third type? What is it?"
"The third type carries an extreme attribute that can push one aspect to its limit, having a significant restraining effect on enemies."
Natalie thought for a while but couldn't recall what kind of lightning that was. Her curiosity was piqued; she had an affinity for lightning and a natural love for its power.
Suddenly hearing such a novel theory made her even more curious.
"What is it? You need to clarify it for me!"
Eager to know sooner, she even resorted to being cute. She grabbed Daniel's arm and shook it vigorously, her ample chest brushing against his arm.
Seeing such a pure and adorable girl acting so spoiled, Daniel could hardly withstand it.
"Alright, alright! I will tell you. I haven't heard much about it either. There’s one called Nine Divine Thunder that I don’t know much about. Another is called Exorcism Thunder. It has a significant restraining effect on demons, undead, souls, darkness, and other dark-related abilities. A single Exorcism Thunder can counter a hundred of the opponent's attacks."
"Oh, isn't that just purifying light? Although this type of magic emits holy light, according to the academy's instructors' analysis, it should be a form of lightning magic."
Daniel was sweating; he truly didn't know that Exorcism Thunder was quite similar to Purification of Light.
"Maybe."
Once they arrived outside the academy, Natalie accidentally noticed the military camp nearby and curiously asked, "What is this place? Can I go in and take a look?"
Right next to them was the military camp, and she couldn't understand why there would be another place resembling a military camp here. Moreover, looking at those tents, they were so tall, as if prepared for giants.
She had never heard that the Flame Throne Wizard Academy had a similar army.
"That is a Bullman Knight Order that the academy just subdued. If you want, we can go in and take a look."
Natalie nodded in agreement. As they entered, they happened to see Jim and Sam. The two smiled and hurriedly greeted Daniel.
"Daniel, what brings you here?" Their tone was very polite, as if addressing a senior.
Natalie found the two somewhat familiar and suddenly realized. "You are Jim, and you are Sam. I never expected to see you here. Not bad, you've already become First-Level Wizard Apprentices. I didn't think you would be working under Daniel."
The two exchanged wry smiles; they were both quite proud and had looked down on their peers, possessing decent talents but had not achieved much in a thousand years.
Who would have thought that now they had vaguely become Daniel's subordinates? Especially Sam, who initially harbored animosity towards Daniel, believing it was because of him that he was captured by the academy. Who would have thought he would end up working under him?
Daniel quickly changed the subject. "By the way, Senior Sister, could I ask you for a favor?"
"What kind of favor? Let me hear it; if I'm interested, I can help you." Natalie was somewhat puzzled; they had only just met, so why would Daniel think of asking her for help?
"You see, these Minotaurs come from a tribe underground, and their strength is decent. So I want to breed them in large numbers. Unfortunately, there are too few Minotaurs in their tribe, and there aren't many other Minotaur Tribes, so I can only think of ways to breed them extensively.
I do have some ideas; it's just that my manpower is insufficient, so I wanted to ask for your help."
Natalie looked at him with surprise; she found it even more curious. The strength of the Minotaurs was undeniable; basically, as long as they reached adulthood, they possessed knight-level strength and could become Great Knights with some training.
Such a powerful race is scarce in number primarily due to the difficulties in reproduction.
Now, from what Daniel means, he seems to have thought of a way to make Minotaur reproduce rapidly to meet his needs, which is quite surprising.
"I will definitely help you."
However, he did not realize that he had already fallen into Daniel's trap under his gradual guidance.
"Great, with Senior Sister's help, I will surely succeed."
Daniel said happily.
Increasing the number of Minotaur was an idea Daniel had long ago. Currently, there are only over 1,000 Minotaur in the Minotaur Tribe, so he can only allocate fifty Minotaur Warrior. While this seems like a strong team, it is difficult to keep up with his pace.
To rapidly increase the number of Minotaur, there are ways to do so, such as through biotechnology. Wizards can extract the essence of Minotaur and cultivate complete Minotaur in the Cultivation Pool. As long as the materials are sufficient, they can cultivate hundreds of Minotaur in no time.
However, the costs are also very high. The nutrient solution in the Cultivation Pool requires various life essences and animal bloodlines; no wizard would go about doing this.
