In the center, a Minotaur Ritual was being mobilized by someone holding a staff.
“Damn Wizard Academy, fearing the strength of the tribe, has sent wizards to attack us. Can we agree to this?”
“No, no, we must fight back.”
“Good, I will assign tasks below; we must kill those damned wizards.”
For a moment, the scene was bustling with excitement. The Priest stood there, assigning tasks. He seemed very confident in himself, believing that the Minotaur would surely win.
However, Daniel noticed a deep sorrow in his eyes. Clearly, his inner thoughts were not as calm as they appeared.
As the Minotaur High Priest and Flame Bull, he usually remained composed and was the tribe's wise man, but now he wore a frown and seemed restless, even unsure about how to assign tasks. The reason for this was that he had learned of the wizards' impending attack on the tribe.
He was well aware of the power of the Wizard Academy. If they got serious, they could crush the tribe with ease.
Now that they had sent people to attack his tribe, he was at a loss for what to do. He could only try to be cautious and minimize the tribe's losses.
If it came to that, he would have no choice but to abandon this place and relocate the tribe elsewhere, far from the Wizard Academy.
Daniel was also assigned a task, along with adult Minotaurs, to gather materials to repair damaged houses.
Once they reached the wilderness, Daniel found an opportunity to leave the group and cast Transmutation. He had only gone to scout the situation and had no intention of staying long in the Minotaur Tribe.
Finding a cave, Daniel set up some arrangements outside before burrowing inside to check his gains from this mission using his chip.
Daniel chose the Minotaur Tribe called Adra, which has a considerable population of one thousand two hundred thirty-two people.
There are a total of one hundred twenty-three Minotaurs that can rival the Great Knights. Contrary to the intelligence reports, there are not ten Minotaur Commanders, but twelve in total. Their strength is even more terrifying than reported.
The already formidable strength was further heightened by the chaos caused by Brook, filling the entire tribe with suspicion. The idea of exterminating the Minotaur Tribe suddenly became several times more difficult, leaving Daniel at a loss for what to do.
Suddenly, he recalled the deep sorrow in the eyes of the Minotaur High Priest. Perhaps I can do this.
With the idea in mind, Daniel turned and left the cave, using Transmutation once again to transform into a frail, unfamiliar Minotaur as he walked toward the group.
From a distance, he could vaguely see Minotaur Warriors patrolling around.
The others clearly noticed him and let out loud roars to call their companions, converging toward Daniel.
Upon hearing the commotion, the Minotaur Commander rushed over at an incredible speed. With that massive spiked club in his hand, it was evident he was ready to kill at the slightest hint of trouble.
Daniel raised both hands to signal that he meant no harm. Then he said, "I am Ebul from the distant Salva Tribe. After a long journey, I have come here and am pleased to meet you."
Despite his frail appearance being quite deceptive, the Minotaur Commander glanced at him and saw no threat. With a stern face, he replied, "Hello, traveler. Leave our tribe."
"Why? I intend to visit your tribe as a guest. I have heard of your Adela Tribe's reputation for hospitality back when I was in the Southern Sadr Tribe. I admire your courage in resisting the tyrannical wizards. But why can’t I visit your tribe now?"
The Minotaur Commander let out a hearty laugh, pleased with Daniel's flattery. However, he still said, "No. Those damned wizards fear the strength of the Adela Tribe and are about to send people to attack our tribe. So you should leave."
"Attacking the Adela Tribe, how despicable. If that's the case, I must go. As a Minotaur, how can I stand by and watch my fellow countrymen suffer? Don’t be fooled by my frail appearance; I am a Priest, and I can definitely bring help to your tribe."
Hearing this, the Minotaur Commander, despite his fearless nature, slightly bent down to show respect. The Priest was the tribe's scholar, possessing mysterious powers capable of healing wounds and striking down enemies, making him a leader of the tribe. Even though the Adela Tribe only had six Priests, they were considered very noble.
"That's great! With your joining us, we will surely defeat the evil wizard."
As the material collection was nearly complete, the Minotaur Commander let out a call for the surrounding Minotaurs to return. Soon, the Minotaurs gathered, but upon counting, the Minotaur Commander noticed something was off; they were missing the very Minotaur that Daniel had transformed into initially.
Under normal circumstances, the Minotaur Commander might not have cared at all and would have thought that the Minotaur had returned to the tribe on its own. Such occurrences were common among the often careless Minotaurs.
However, this time was different. The tribe was facing an attack from the wizard, and the Minotaur Commander was very alert. He dispatched several warriors to search around, but after a while without finding anything, he led the team back.
The atmosphere in the group had taken on a hint of gloom as they unconsciously quickened their pace, fearing an ambush by the wizard.
Seeing this scene, Daniel felt a surge of anger. He contemplated whether to leave the group right now and head north to the Minotaur Tribe to cause some trouble for Brook.
Facing a mere Second-Level Apprentice, how dare he try to trip me up? How shameless can one be?
Soon they returned to the tribe. The Minotaur Commander brought Daniel to the central altar, which was essentially a stone platform. At that moment, it was pitch black on top, with a large pit formed in the center and cracks spreading all around, clearly showing signs of severe damage.
The Minotaur Commander instructed Daniel to wait there while he went in to report.
Daniel nodded in understanding. After a short while, a Minotaur that Daniel had never seen before appeared and hurriedly left. With the sound of a distant horn echoing through the air, the tribe's defenses became even more stringent. It seemed preparations for vigilance were underway.
Several Minotaurs dressed in linen robes emerged, with one in the center appearing particularly enthusiastic. "Hello! I am Conrad the Bull, High Priest of the Adela Tribe. Welcome, friend from afar."
"Greetings, High Priest." Daniel responded similarly, secretly relieved that he had transformed into a Minotaur; it made it less likely for them to be on guard against him.
A young priest nearby warned, "Wait a minute, High Priest. Who knows if he is really a Minotaur? The wizard that appeared just now must have transformed into the form of a Minotaur to swagger up to the altar."
Daniel then understood why Brook was able to attack the altar. Logically, no matter how powerful he was, it would be impossible for him to reach the altar amidst the layers of defenses from the Adela Tribe and cause such destruction.
If he had that capability, he wouldn't need to drag his own feet.
He could have gone directly to the northern tribe and wiped them out. It turned out he had entered by transforming into a Minotaur, sneaking in without any defenses from the Minotaurs.
Hearing this, several priests looked at Daniel, seemingly skeptical. If he were truly transformed by a wizard, it would be hard to guard against.
Daniel was furious! How could they be so shameless? He reluctantly said, "I can use Priest magic to let you confirm. Wizards can't possibly use Priest spells."
"The wizard initially used Priest magic. If you really are a Minotaur, then let us lock you up first. After we defeat the wizard, I will believe you are a Minotaur."
How could that be possible? Daniel's purpose in coming here was to annihilate the Adela Tribe. By the time the Adela Tribe confirmed they had repelled the wizard and released him, it would be too late. It would be better to just admit defeat.
Seeing Daniel hesitating, several Minotaur Priests exchanged wary glances and slowly began to encircle him, sensing that something was off and preparing to take action.
Daniel hurriedly said, "Wait! I can explain. Why didn't I see any Kodo Beasts on my way here?"
The Kodo Beast is a creature resembling a large lizard, said to possess the bloodline of the Earthwalker Dragon. It stands over two meters tall and is five or six meters long. Only such a massive creature has the strength and endurance to carry a Minotaur directly into battle. Moreover, its gentle nature makes it the best mount for Minotaurs.
Upon hearing this, even the thick-skinned Minotaur Commander looked somewhat embarrassed.
"Our tribe has severed its knightly heritage and cannot tame Kodo Beasts."
The High Priest felt somewhat embarrassed by these words. The Kodo Beast has a history intertwined with the Minotaur; without the Kodo Beast, the Minotaur cannot truly be considered a Minotaur.
However, the Adela Tribe has already lost the legacy of the Kodo Beast, so where is their pride in being Minotaurs?
"I can help you tame the Kodo Beast," Daniel said calmly.
Upon hearing this, the High Priest's eyes widened in disbelief, and he trembled as he asked, "Are you serious? Can you really help us tame the Kodo Beast?"
Not just the High Priest, but every Minotaur who heard Daniel's words was filled with excitement. Especially those Minotaur Warriors, who should have been riding Kodo Beasts to become fearless knights, galloping across the battlefield.
Now, they were only destined to be infantry, and it was hard for them to bear.
"Of course, taming a single Kodo Beast is not difficult for me."
"Alright, as long as you can help us tame the Kodo Beast, I will make sure you can stay in the tribe."
"Thank you, but to tame the Kodo Beast, you must follow my instructions."
"No problem," the High Priest assured, patting his chest.
