Lisa stood up, holding a thick stack of defense materials, and walked to the center of the courtroom. Her expression was calm and resolute as she looked directly at the Jury and began her defense. 0

"Honorable Judge, members of the Jury," Lisa began, her voice clear and powerful, "we are here today to seek truth and justice. First, we do not deny that Ms. Claire Smith killed Mr. Mark Johnson on the night in question. However, this is by no means a cold-blooded murder; it is the result of a woman who has been abused for a long time finally fighting back in desperation." 0

Her words sparked a murmur in the courtroom, and the Jury members began to exchange glances, appearing quite interested in the case. Lisa paused for a moment, scanning the Jury and everyone in the courtroom before continuing, "I want to mention some other cases where the victims had similar experiences to Claire's. Some women, having endured long-term abuse from their husbands or partners, were forced to take extreme actions out of fear and despair." 0

She raised a document and started listing some well-known cases: "For example, in the case of Jenny Smith, she killed her husband after years of enduring his violent treatment. Then there’s the case of Mary Johnson, who stabbed her partner during an argument after suffering both physical and psychological abuse for a long time. In these cases, the courts considered the victims' prolonged experiences of abuse and ultimately gave them relatively lenient sentences." 0

Lisa's words again caused a stir in the courtroom as Jury members began to engage with one another, showing interest in these examples. However, the prosecutor immediately stood up to protest to the judge: "Your Honor, the defense attorney is attempting to confuse the issue by bringing unrelated cases into this matter; this is an ineffective defense." 0

The judge frowned and looked at Lisa, signaling her to explain. Lisa remained unflustered and continued, "Your Honor, these cases are not unrelated. What Ms. Claire Smith experienced is identical to what these victims went through. She endured mental and physical abuse from Mark Johnson for a long time and was ultimately pushed to her limits during a heated argument, forcing her to react in such a way." 0

She turned to face the Jury with sincerity and strength in her tone, deliberately making eye contact with the female members: "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we cannot merely look at the surface of events while ignoring the truth behind them. Claire is not a cold-blooded murderer; she is a victim who finally exploded after enduring long-term oppression and abuse. Her actions were not born out of malice but out of desperation and fear." 0

Lisa's words left the Jury deep in thought, especially among the female members whose expressions became more focused and serious. She knew this was the effect she needed to achieve. She had to make the Jury see Claire's vulnerability and helplessness so that they could feel sympathy for her, which would give Claire a fighting chance. 0

The prosecutor protested again: "Your Honor, the defense attorney is trying to turn this case into a sympathetic story; however, the fact remains that Claire Smith cleaned up the scene after committing her crime in an attempt to cover it up. She was fully aware of her actions and their consequences; this is not simply a case of self-defense." 0

The judge nodded and looked at Lisa: "Defense attorney, please focus on the evidence and facts of this case." 0

Lisa smiled and nodded: "Of course, Your Honor. We will provide evidence demonstrating Claire's suffering and oppression throughout this relationship and show that her actions that night were driven by extreme fear and desperation." 0

She turned to face Claire with determination in her voice: "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we will prove that Claire's actions were not malicious but rather a result of being pushed to her limits. Every choice she made was between life and death. We will showcase all the pain she endured in this relationship and how she was forced into taking extreme action that night." 0

Lisa paused for a moment, allowing her words to linger in the air before continuing, "We will provide evidence that Claire's actions that night were driven by extreme fear and desperation, not cold-blooded murder. She is a victim fighting back in a desperate situation, not a criminal devoid of remorse." 0

She turned to the judge, her tone resolute: "Your Honor, we ask the court to consider these facts and grant Claire a fair trial. We believe the truth will come to light, and justice will be served." 0

The prosecutor looked tense as he watched Lisa and Claire, fully aware that their strategy would lead to a lengthy trial filled with confusion and exaggeration. He quickly stood up, walked to the center of the courtroom, his gaze intense, ready to counter Lisa's arguments. 0

"Honorable Judge, members of the Jury," the prosecutor began, his voice calm and firm, "the defense attorney just mentioned cases of long-term abused women eventually fighting back, but these cases have no direct relevance to this case. We need to focus on the facts and evidence at hand." 0

He paused for a moment, scanning each member of the Jury before continuing: "First, we must point out that while Claire Smith and Mark Johnson's relationship has ended, based on the evidence we have gathered, Claire's motive for murder stemmed from jealousy and revenge, not self-defense." 0

The prosecutor raised a document and displayed it to the Jury: "According to multiple witness testimonies, Claire harassed Mark several times after their breakup and even stalked his new girlfriend. These actions demonstrate Claire's extreme dissatisfaction with Mark's new life and her jealousy." 0

He flipped open another document, showing screenshots of text messages: "Furthermore, by decrypting Claire and Mark's phone messages, we can clearly see that in the days leading up to the incident, Claire had private conversations with Mark discussing various topics, including intimate matters. These messages indicate that Claire was using physical control over Mark; while Mark may have acted immorally, the root of this incident lies in Claire's transformation of love into hatred." 0

The prosecutor moved closer to the Jury as he continued his statement: "These messages reveal that Claire was filled with jealousy towards Mark's new girlfriend; she could not accept that Mark was doing better than her after their breakup. These emotions gradually built up until they erupted on the night of the incident, leading her to violently attack Mark." 0

He pointed to an evidence display board in the courtroom covered with multiple text message screenshots and call logs: "These are records of communication between Claire and Mark that illustrate their complicated relationship. Based on this evidence, we can determine that Claire's act of killing Mark was not out of self-defense but rather out of jealousy and revenge." 0

The prosecutor's voice grew stronger as he locked eyes with the Jury: "Ladies and gentlemen of the Jury, this evidence irrefutably proves that Claire Smith did not act in self-defense on the night of the incident; rather, she was unable to accept Mark's new life and acted out of jealousy and hatred, ultimately committing this extreme act." 0

He turned to the judge with a firm tone: "Your Honor, we request that the court impose a severe sentence on Claire Smith based on this evidence. Her actions demonstrate extreme malice and premeditation; she is not a victim forced into a corner but rather a vengeful killer." 0

After finishing his statement, the prosecutor faced the Jury respectfully bowed before returning to his seat. The atmosphere in the courtroom grew even tenser as everyone processed these heavy pieces of evidence and accusations. 0
