Chapter 14: Identity Swap
Inside the Yun Yin Temple training room, Duanmu Chong picked up the Swastika Seal Secret Manual, opened it, and began to practice according to the instructions in the manual. Next, Duanmu Chong picked up the third manual and was taken aback to find it was the Buddhist Sacred Art, known as the Tathagata's Holy Seal. Duanmu Chong said, "The master trusts me so much; how can I let him down?" He then sat cross-legged, recited Buddhist verses, opened the manual, and memorized the incantations. Moments later, Duanmu Chong stood up, rotated his palms, and formed an energy that manifested a Tathagata image before him. However, the energy was slightly weak; when he pushed forward suddenly, the holy energy dissipated upon striking a nearby sandbag.
By integrating these three martial arts, Duanmu Chong experienced a qualitative leap in his Inner Strength. What would take an ordinary person three to five years to cultivate could be achieved by Duanmu Chong in just half a day, proving his past dominance in the martial world. Although his Inner Strength had improved, it still fell short compared to before he renounced worldly life. To atone for his past sins, Duanmu Chong decided to leave the Yun Yin Temple and help those in need at the Martial Arts Alliance. After bidding farewell to the Dharma Master, he set off on his path of redemption.
The lust demon, Ke Chi Nian, after battling with the Lustful Man, began searching for virtuous women to indulge himself. The demon committed atrocities near the Yun Yin Temple in Liangjia Village, just as Duanmu Chong happened to pass by. When the lust demon finished assaulting women and emerged at the village entrance, Duanmu Chong blocked his path. Performing a Buddhist greeting, he said, "Amitabha Buddha. Abstaining from Desire; the sea of desire knows no bounds; sinking into it is shameful. It is not too late to turn back; Buddha compassionately guides people."
The lust demon laughed and replied, "What a great irony! Such words coming from you, the notorious demon Duanmu Chong. I remember once I said something similar to you; back then you responded with violence. Now I return your words in kind." With that, he raised his hand and gathered energy for a strike against Buddha's words.
Duanmu Chong used his strength to block but was still pushed back several steps. He then said, "Celibacy Master, please believe that Buddha can guide you back to the right path; come back with me to the Yun Yin Temple." Before he could finish speaking, the lust demon launched another deadly palm strike at him. Chanting a spell, Duanmu Chong unleashed his own technique—Buddhist Qi Gong Swastika Seal, countering the demon's attack. A loud explosion echoed as dust filled the air; both stood facing each other coldly. The scene resembled past encounters where Buddhists prevented sinners from continuing their descent into depravity—only this time it was a swap of identities between Buddha and demon. The current Buddhist was once a lost lamb; yesterday's Buddhist had transformed into today's demon. The stark contrast in their positions ensured this would be an inevitable confrontation: newly initiated into the Buddhist Sect, Duanmu Chong faced off against an ever-deviant Abstaining from Desire. Different intentions but same person; as beads moved in prayer, an unavoidable battle commenced.
Without further ado, the lust demon unleashed his palm technique with full force—the technique known as Waves of Passion Technique: Kiss Without Gaps surged towards Duanmu Chong. In response, he shouted sternly and stomped once before channeling energy through both hands; executing the technique from the Buddhist Sect: Compassionate Thousand Hands. Thousands of energy hands appeared behind him and struck towards the lust demon with unmatched force. The clash between Waves of Passion Technique and Buddhist Qi Gong created extreme shockwaves that ravaged everything around them mercilessly. However, since Duanmu Chong's inner strength was inferior to that of the lust demon's attack power, he ultimately suffered defeat in this first battle after entering society under his Buddhist identity—spitting out several mouthfuls of fresh blood while sustaining serious injuries.
The lust demon remarked: "It seems this outcome is just like before—Buddhists suffer regret. Out of consideration for our past encounter where you spared my life, I will show mercy this time and let you go. But next time we meet, sinner Duanmu Chong, I will eliminate you for good." With that said, he slowly walked away from the scene. All that remained on Duanmu Chong's face was unwillingness mixed with regretful eyes that felt irredeemable.
At this moment, after the battle concluded, Gong Shang Jiao Zhi Yu arrived in a wheelchair. He said: "Duanmu Chong, I have seen your efforts; do not be discouraged by temporary failure. What you need to do now is quickly enhance your martial arts so that you can have the ability to punish evil."
Duanmu Chong performed a Buddhist greeting towards him and replied: "Amitabha Buddha! Benefactor, you are quite right. For the sake of martial arts peace, I must guide that lust demon back onto the right path; if he remains obstinate and unrepentant, I will have no choice but to resort to extreme measures again." With that said, he sat cross-legged on both legs and began healing himself through meditation.
"That's more like it," replied Gong Shang Jiao Zhi Yu.
Inside the Canglong Cave, out of jealousy over a beautiful woman,Gui Gu Zi felt an overwhelming surge of envy and anger became evident on his face. With one command given, several disciples who were playing with Dreamy Beauty were dragged away for execution while they cried out for mercy. However,Gui Gu Zi remained unmoved and insisted on executing them. Dreamy Beauty approached him and said: "Wait! My dear husband is busy with many matters and has no time for your new bride Dreamy Consort ! I am also human; being bored here leads me to seek their company for some fun! If you kill them now, who will play with me later? Do you want me to die of boredom?"
Gui Gu Zi replied: "If anyone is going to play with you it can only be me; they are not worthy."
Dreamy Beauty: "Since marrying you, have you spent even one day with me? You are either busy with matters of your faction or managing others' affairs. Did you marry me just to keep me under house arrest and watch over me? I was so happy at the Drunken Red Mansion every day. Although I cannot be like that now, you should at least grant me the right to have some fun. These people are not to be killed; if you insist on your way, then I will have no choice but to leave here."
Gui Gu Zi hesitated for a moment upon hearing this. To monopolize the beauty and prevent her from straying, he made a decision and said, "Since you have pleaded for them, I will give you this favor. However, while their death penalty can be avoided, they must still face punishment. Bring them here; castrate these four men, and they will serve you wholeheartedly from now on."

The plaque at the entrance shone brightly, and the guards were dressed appropriately. Upon entering the mansion, they were greeted by a flower garden in the courtyard; however, the three of them were not in the mood to admire flowers and quickly made their way into the hall. As soon as they stepped into the hall, they heard a voice say: "Bastard! Kneel!" A man dressed in a light brown robe wielding a long spear emerged from the Inner Hall. He had a weathered face with graying whiskers and stood six feet two inches tall. Upon hearing this command, Sima Qian immediately knelt down and said: "Father!"
Seeing this scene unfold, Jia Dao quickly bowed and said: "Oh! So it's Lord Sima Murmur Manor Owner. I am Jia Dao, a friend of your son."
Meanwhile, Hua Mulan knelt down before Sima Qian's father, Sima Guan, saying: "Daughter-in-law Hua Mulan pays her respects to my father-in-law."
Upon hearing this address, Sima Guan became furious and thrust his spear toward Sima Qian's left shoulder. Rather than dodging it, Sima Qian allowed his father's spear to pierce his shoulder; blood gushed forth uncontrollably as he endured immense pain. Seeing this situation unfold, Hua Mulan asked: "Father-in-law! What does this mean?"
In response to her question, Sima Guan, in a thunderous voice reprimanded: "Do not call me father-in-law! I have no daughter-in-law like you! Bastard son Sima Qian! Not only have you caused trouble outside but you've also secretly married without my permission or that of your parents! Do you even consider me your father? Without parental consent or matchmaking words spoken by an intermediary—this marriage will not be recognized by me! Guards! Take both Jia Dao and Hua Mulan out of the Sima Family Village!
The servant heard the words and came to the hall, saying, "Gentlemen, please."
Jia Dao said, "Since the master does not welcome me, I shall take my leave." With that, Jia Dao walked out of the hall. Hua Mulan still knelt on the ground, unwilling to leave. The servant came to Hua Mulan's side, helped her up, and then forcibly pulled her out. Sima Qian could only watch his beloved leave without daring to speak.
After Jia Dao and Hua Mulan left, Sima Guan said, "I have already arranged a marriage for you. The bride is the daughter of Bureaucrat Bu from across the street, Bu Xiuru. I have already sent the betrothal gifts. The second day of next month is an auspicious day; you will wed then."
Sima Qian firmly refused upon hearing this, but Sima Guan would not allow his son to defy him again. Sima Guan commanded, "Someone, take the young master back to his room and lock the door. He cannot be released without my order."
The servant took Sima Qian out of the hall. Sima Qian shouted loudly, "I will not marry any bureaucrat's daughter! I am already married to Hua Mulan; no one can separate us."
After Jia Dao and Hua Mulan were driven out of Sima Family Village, they encountered the assassin Jing Ke from the Black Design Society who had come to claim their lives. Both sides secretly gathered their strength, ready for a showdown; a battle of life and death was about to erupt.
The expert Left Eye Blind from the Famous Sword Society had recovered from his injuries and was ordered by President Xia Zhouyi to search for Zhu Yingtai at the Martial Arts Alliance. By the banks of the Qingming River, Left Eye Blind discovered Lustful Man and Zhu Yingtai in an intimate moment. The sound of a blade hitting the ground broke the atmosphere as the swordsman appeared, causing everyone to feel apprehensive.
Tension filled the air as Jing Ke once again pursued Jia Dao and Hua Mulan. Would they be able to escape from the assassin's grasp? Left Eye Blind approached Zhu Yingtai and Lustful Man; would he successfully capture Zhu Yingtai?
