Divine Fist and Stalker were once again at a standoff, but with Nian Gui behind Stalker, the battle was destined to be unfair. However, at that moment, Divine Fist did not consider this; true to his aggressive combat style, he charged forward. Yet, the appearance of Blue Face Hero brought him back to his senses.
"Don't go in!" Blue Face Hero immediately grabbed Divine Fist. "Do you want to end up like last time, thrown off by Nian Gui? We're on a mountaintop here, and I can't guarantee I can save you again."
Feeling that Blue Face Hero had a point, Divine Fist had no choice but to relent, standing beside him and glaring at the two opponents.
"Do you really think you can win?" Nian Gui threw a question at Blue Face Hero.
"I can't give you a clear answer, old man, because your brain is constantly filled with uncertainties. A Telekinesis master like you will doubt everything others say," Blue Face Hero replied calmly, meeting Nian Gui's gaze. "But I believe that good will triumph over evil."
"Hmph." Nian Gui sneered, the sphere in his hand growing larger. He wondered why the soldiers weren't attacking when a massive explosion caught his attention—Fierce Eagle had been hit in mid-air and crashed to the ground.
Nian Gui glanced back at the artillery position and mocked, "Nars, is this your teammate?"
"You bastard!" Divine Fist exploded with anger upon hearing Nian Gui insult his comrade. The indicators on his gauntlets began to fluctuate wildly as he prepared to attack.
However, Blue Face Hero suddenly extended his arm to block him again. He looked at Divine Fist, and it seemed as if something was being communicated through his moonlit eyes. They locked eyes for a long moment, moving from confusion and anger to sudden realization. Divine Fist had no choice but to lower his fists—he couldn't let his impulsiveness ruin the alliance's plans.
Nian Gui began casting a spell, a Force Field coiling in his hand and rising before being hurled toward Blue Face Hero and Divine Fist. Blue Face Hero quickly deployed a Particle Shield, larger than any he had used on the battlefield before, completely enveloping both himself and Divine Fist. With a loud bang, the attack struck the barrier, sending ripples across it.
"Liu Xuan," Nars said, "activate the Spell Arts of the third-tier weapon Curry for me; there's a protective buffer array we need to initiate."
"And then what? You said we would definitely need this when you arrived, so I've been holding it close!" In his mind, Liu Xuan immediately pressed the activation button. The spell began swirling around their shared body like aquatic plants, gradually surrounding Qin Weishan as well; however, its visibility was low from Nian Gui's perspective—he couldn't see how the spell was being cast.
"Then just hand over all your consciousness to me; I need a calm mental environment," Nars instructed before calling out to Nian Gui. "Old man, haven't you always wanted to kill me? Here I am!"
"You insolent brat!" Nian Gui shouted as he clenched his hands and raised them. Both fighters felt an invisible thrust beneath their feet that propelled them into the air, continuously rising until they surpassed the height of all the trees on the mountaintop.
"What is happening?" Divine Fist asked in confusion.
"Trust me; these are all his tricks." At nearly ten meters above ground level, they could even overlook the entire mountain range. Blue Face Hero surprisingly spread his arms wide with an indifferent expression.
In an instant, Divine Fist felt as if something were tearing at him from within; intense pain made him cry out as fiery sensations coursed through his body—more painful than mere burns.
"No matter what methods you have left, I think it's time for you to use them!" Divine Fist gritted his teeth and forced those words out.
Blue Face Hero quickly brought his hands together and began making gestures that Divine Fist couldn't comprehend. Upon closer inspection, his hands grew increasingly bright as azure waves of light seemed to gather around him. Qin Weishan noticed these waves probing at him as if trying to understand him.
"Alpha Mojo!"
With that incantation executed, the waves surrounding him received clear instructions and erupted outward. An aura formed instantly around Blue Face Hero and Divine Fist, providing them with tremendous upward acceleration. Just as this Cosmic Energy Force Field formed perfectly, Nian Gui released his grip on the Force Field he had conjured; it plummeted downwards with tremendous force onto Blue Face Hero and Divine Fist! However, after a cloud of smoke cleared away, both emerged unscathed.
Nian Gui was somewhat surprised but quickly recalled: "This Spell Arts can only be known by your father; where did you learn it?"
"Guess," Blue Face Hero replied as he summoned a hand cannon. The curved mechanical wheel on its surface spun rapidly while blue light streamed into its barrel—indicating that it was charging up to high frequency. "If you guess correctly, I'll tell you."
During two relatively peaceful years on Earth Time, Nars had extensively studied third-tier weaponry because within it lay not just weapons but also various weapon source codes and Spell Arts left behind by his father. Weapon source codes were akin to a weapon's DNA—the fundamental characteristics of an imagined weapon. With weapon DNA in hand, such weapons could be manufactured under corresponding material conditions in any environment; he could create weapons from local resources or use weapon DNA to craft unique equipment for alliance members. As for Spell Arts, Nars had rarely used them on Earth—not due to neglect but because there were simply no conditions for research; the backup storage of Curry's Spell Arts might be one of the few high-tier Spell Arts he could still utilize.
"It seems your father left you quite a lot." Realizing that his signature technique had been countered made Nian Gui aware that killing them wouldn't be simple; he gathered another Force Field behind him: "It looks like we're in for a fierce battle."
"Weishan, don't get too close," Blue Face Hero warned before turning around and officially opening fire on Nian Gui. Stalker was an assassin who thrived in close combat; under firepower exchange she was at a disadvantage and slipped into the shadows waiting for her chance.
"Is it okay if I go after that little one?" Divine Fist asked Blue Face Hero, but he was too preoccupied to respond. Taking it as tacit approval, Divine Fist charged toward Stalker as she revealed herself from the shadows…
Meanwhile,
A dozen soldiers surrounded Dream Eater’s locked position preparing to encircle it.
"You! Go check!"
An Internal Troops soldier rolled behind a tree they had preliminarily identified but found nothing.
"No one!" he shouted back.
Just then, the vibration sound of an electromagnetic weapon charging drew their attention; they turned just in time to see Fierce Eagle standing up with an electromagnetic throwing knife aimed directly at one soldier before hurling it without hesitation.
" Sister Jiao An, how much longer?" Fierce Eagle asked Nightmare.
"Ready," Nightmare's voice was barely audible.
Fierce Eagle immediately took to the skies, his agile flying making it difficult for the ground-based Internal Troops to aim at him. However, he did not retaliate; instead, he flew in various tricky angles, seemingly trying to draw the soldiers' attention.
As Fierce Eagle observed from above amidst the barrage of tracer rounds, he spotted a reflection at nine o'clock watching him.
"Move quickly, Xiaotian!" Nightmare warned over the communicator. "I've marked it!"
A muffled cannon sound followed, and a blue-purple flame erupted from the muzzle, broadcasting its position. This allowed Nightmare to immediately determine the exact distance and direction of the Artillery camp. The cannon fired a parabolic shot towards Fierce Eagle in anticipation of his movements. Fierce Eagle quickly sidestepped, and the fireball grazed past his chest; in that moment, he even saw the shadow of his energy core on the shell casing.
"I dodged it!" Fierce Eagle sighed in relief. He had also clearly identified the Artillery's position and was preparing to dive down to destroy it when something unexpected happened.
The shell seemed to have a mind of its own; after passing by Fierce Eagle, it suddenly angled sharply back towards him!
Fierce Eagle could hardly believe this turn of events. Even when Xiao Ling warned him that he was locked onto by a missile, it was too late. By the time he turned around, the shell struck again, this time exploding right around his face! His shoulder felt as if it had been torn apart; he clutched it in pain and was forced to descend—staying up in the air would make him an easy target for a deadly hit.
This artillery could track heat sources!
" Sister Jiao An, hurry! I need... I need to catch my breath, ah..." Fierce Eagle landed behind a rock, closed his eyes, and gasped for air before punching his thigh armor hard, like a father reprimanding his wayward son for not living up to expectations. The biggest flaw of this armor was its defensive capability; having taken two hits from internal human artillery, the outer layer was now charred and carbonized, making it difficult to achieve better combat effectiveness. An Xiaotian had never missed his old partner Fierce Eagle Armor as much as he did now. When he set out, he never imagined that Crimson Phoenix Armor would be so fragile; this realization only dawned on him through the current battle.
The rock he hid behind was still not enough to cover his entire body.
Outside the battlefield
The constant sounds of gunfire and artillery were a persistent disturbance to Lu Sha's ears. She was hiding atop a twenty-meter tall Xuan Yuan Cypress tree near the battlefield, using a portable telescope provided by the military base to survey the entire situation.
To be honest, she felt this mission was quite challenging. Perhaps it was because she was one of the key players in this task or maybe because The Celestial Warriors were executing their first collective mission without proper coordination; Lu Sha had an unsettling feeling that this mission would fail. Although she had repeatedly told herself not to think like that, she knew all too well the consequences of failure—the alliance would either be severely injured or completely destroyed. In fact, this operation and any future missions undertaken for unknown purposes were all gambles with their lives at stake.
"I can't think like this!" Lu Sha shook her head; she didn't want to discourage herself. She lay flat against the rock, quietly waiting for an opportunity.
Her greatest concern wasn't the enemy but rather her teammate codenamed Divine Fist. His attacks could disrupt her plans at any moment.
As she thought about this, images began to clarify before her eyes; Lu Sha snapped back to reality and saw that the battlefield had been divided into two parts: Divine Fist and Blue Face Hero were engaged with Nian Gui and Stalker while Fierce Eagle and Nightmare were entangled with elite soldiers.
She wanted to see Sister Jiao An but searched for a long time without spotting her. Turning her gaze towards Blue Face Hero's side, she noted that their situation had stabilized; Blue Face Hero was managing the rhythm well and keeping Nian Gui within five steps' reach. He neither launched a strong attack nor showed any signs of retreat; instead, he engaged Nian Gui in a turn-based exchange of moves.
"Hiss, hiss..."
Lu Sha's communicator buzzed; she immediately perked up her ears.
"Almost there."
It was Nars's voice.
"Understood."
Lu Sha stood up and shot her chain spear into another Big Birch tree before swinging down gracefully with a perfect front flip, landing on a branch just over fifty meters away from Nian Gui, ready for action at any moment.
"Assassination begins," Lu Sha thought as she checked her bulletproof vest. The Alloy Mask locked into place, protecting her fair face.
On the other side
"Load ammunition and cover me!"
The gunner rummaged through an ammo box and pulled out a shell; pressing a button caused white smoke to billow from the launcher’s top cover as he loaded the shell inside. He was the one who had shot down Fierce Eagle twice before. While loading ammunition, he peeked over in that direction, sensing that something was off.
"Brothers, move a bit closer this way; don't crowd so tightly," he said over the communicator.
"Not suppressing? When will we suppress again? There are only two of them; can’t we handle that?" the sergeant retorted over the communication channel.
Indeed, Artillery thought to himself, but in an instant, he suddenly realized something.
"What about the enemy in the purple combat suit?" he shouted through the communicator.
"It's too late!"
Artillery turned around abruptly, and Nightmarish charged in with a knee strike, sending him flying!
"Ugh!" Artillery cried out in pain, falling to the ground while clutching his chin. Nightmarish immediately drew a dagger and stabbed it viciously towards his neck...
Amidst the sounds of gunfire, intermittent screams began to faintly reach the sergeant's ears. "What’s that sound?" The sergeant lowered his weapon and glanced back at Artillery.
"Lohe, prepare for the next strike," the sergeant picked up the communicator.
"Lohe?"
The sergeant sensed something was off and called over five soldiers to follow him. He didn’t see anyone, but the bloodstains on the ground told him everything.
A sudden shock coursed through the sergeant’s body as he shouted, "Alert!"
A rustling sound came from above in the trees, and Nightmarish dropped down from above, stabbing directly into the sergeant's skull. As the sergeant's body fell, Nightmarish rolled sideways, skillfully dodging the soldiers' gunfire, and swiftly grabbed one soldier by the neck, using him as a shield while raising the Fate Conqueror multifunctional sniper rifle to fire immediately!
However, these were elite soldiers of Internal Human; they were quick to react. The first soldier targeted had no chance of escape, but the other three immediately rolled away. Seeing this, Nightmarish ceased firing and forcefully twisted the neck of the soldier in his grip before quickly pulling a smoke grenade from his waist and throwing it to the ground. Instantly, smoke billowed out like blooming flowers, enveloping the area. Two soldiers were on the left side and one on the right; seeing that Nightmarish had used tactical throwing objects to block their view, they hesitated to fire for fear of hitting their own people.
And Nightmarish took advantage of this hesitation.
The smoke spread just enough to cover nearby bushes as the three soldiers peered into it.
"Did you see her?"
"No."
Suddenly! The two soldiers on the left felt a shadow flash past them; when they looked up, Nightmarish was actually landing right above them! Nightmarish clamped her legs together, causing their faces to feel a sudden heat before "bang," their heads collided violently together.
Dizzy and disoriented, as they were about to fall, Nightmarish used their shoulders for leverage to kick them away while leaning back due to inertia. In that almost negligible moment, she raised her gun without even looking through the scope and decisively pulled the trigger.
"Ugh!"
As the smoke gradually dissipated, Nightmarish walked a few steps toward the fallen soldiers ahead and fired two shots—one bullet for each soldier—hitting them squarely in the forehead.
Nightmarish glanced at the soldier across from her whom she had hit by instinctive blind shooting and connected to her communicator.
"Xiaotian, mission accomplished; it's your turn."
