Good parting, good gathering. He finally ended the relationship. He once believed that getting married meant never getting divorced, but now the person in front of him was parting ways with him amicably. 0

"Alright, alright." Song Pearl stepped back a few paces, standing at a position where she could meet Qing Wenyu's gaze. He had been lying down for half a year; his skin was pale, and his cold eyes were desolate. The familiar face brought back familiar feelings. Was he still the same person he used to be? 0

Her blood filled his body, restoring his life, yet he showed no gratitude. What he returned to her was only a cold, shattered heart. 0

But did she have a heart for him? She had never held any hope for their relationship, so how could she feel disappointment? 0

Could it be that in her heart, their relationship was no longer a matter of responsibility? It was clear that she could be very carefree about the divorce, yet hearing the same words from him still pricked her heart slightly. 0

It wasn't her heart that was pricked; it was Song Pearl's heart, right? How could she have a heart? 0

"I think Qing Wenyu is somewhat different!" 0

Hong Xinran's words flashed through her mind. 0

She knew that Qing Wenyu would be different; a heart with scars could never be the same as before. 0

His heart had been gnawed at by the vengeful Cat Demon. Although her blood nourished his flesh, it could not repair his heart. He could only rely on surgery at the hospital. After a successful operation to repair it, his heart no longer contained her. 0

She had anticipated this situation; she just didn't expect that he had dreamt a long dream. 0

Did he dream of his past life? Or had his past self returned? She didn't want to ask because she felt there was no meaning in such questions. 0

When Hong Xinran and Qing Wenyu woke up, it felt as if they had crossed over from another time. Perhaps it was true. Even if it wasn't, he possessed memories of his past life. 0

Song Pearl and Wu Qiang could both cross over to this life to make up for regrets from their past lives; Qing Wenyu certainly had that possibility as well. 0

The facts were clear before her eyes; what else was there to desire? 0

In her past life, he did not love her; his true love was Song Zhenbao, whom she had taken away. Perhaps, Song Pearl's rebirth and the memories hidden within Amber were just meant to lead to this conclusion. 0

It was merely to confirm whether Qing Wenyu loved her, Song Pearl, or that Song Zhenbao. 0

Pearl closed her eyes. Ultimately, she was just a Fish Spirit residing in Song Pearl's body. Even with the memories from Amber's illusion and the care from Wu Qiang, she still recognized herself. She was merely the soul of the Pearl Fish from Song Family Village's Nanhu Fish Pond, crossing over into Song Pearl's body for a mission. 0

Marrying him, marrying this designated person, was solely to save his life—the life she had caused harm to and also the one she saved. Now that he had been reborn, she had completed her mission, hadn't she? 0

Yet why did a faint sense of reluctance linger in her heart? Was that love? 0

Their eyes met. Both were suddenly startled, complex emotions intertwining in their gazes. 0

His eyes were calm. Her eyes were filled with tears. 0

"You should rest for a bit; tomorrow we will go through the divorce procedures," Qing Wenyu paused and said. 0

"I'm not tired; I can do it today," Song Pearl replied, staring at him. 0

"At this time, people have already finished work," Qing Wenyu's words came out awkwardly. Looking at Song Pearl's thin face, he raised his hand, suddenly having the urge to hold her as he once did. But a deep barrier in his heart stopped him. 0

Song Pearl forced a smile, disregarding her exhaustion from the journey. Ignoring the calls from behind her, she dashed out of the house and quickly ran along the familiar path ahead. 0

There were few pedestrians and sparse vehicles on the road; what should have been a bustling resort felt desolate. She ran towards Song Family Village but felt no familiarity upon stepping onto that land. 0

The houses in Song Family Village remained, but the villagers had all moved away. A tall fence had been erected around it; entering required signing an agreement and paying a hefty fee. 0

Song Pearl found herself blocked at the ticket booth by the fence gate. She finally lost the pond—the place she once called home—all for taking care of this man, Qing Wenyu. 0

Around the fence stood staff members on duty, their attitudes friendly and polite. 0

"This is now the hunting area of Qing's Resort. All regulations are in place for your safety, please understand. Moreover, it is already evening, and visitors are not allowed to enter." 0

Visitors are not allowed to enter, but she is not a visitor, nor an ordinary person. She wanted to go in, and naturally had her ways. Song Pearl lowered her gaze with a smile and looked at the person blocking her path; he had already changed his attitude. 0

Just as she was about to step forward, someone ran up from behind and grabbed her arm. 0

"Song Pearl, you're back!" a hoarse female voice exclaimed with delight. "I knew you would come here first upon your return." 0

Song Pearl turned around, and a familiar face came into view. 0

"Wang Ziyan, why are you still here? Is the collaboration with the research institute still ongoing?" She looked at the spirited Wang Ziyan in surprise; she had gotten a bit darker and slightly heavier, with her long straight hair now curled. 0

The Ecological Aquaculture Park had turned into a hunting ground, and Song Family Village's Animal Husbandry could no longer continue. With wild wolves banished from the back mountain, it was impossible for anyone to live there. So why was Wang Ziyan still here? 0

"The collaboration with the research institute stopped six months ago, but our research project has continued, so we can only carry on," Wang Ziyan said as she pulled Song Pearl back. "We've already made big claims, so we have to follow through." 0

Song Pearl was almost being dragged along by her. 0

"Since I deviated from the research topic of the Animal Husbandry Research Institute, I resigned," Wang Ziyan said cheerfully. 0

"Resigned?" Song Pearl tugged at her to slow down. "You finally got that job, and you actually resigned?" 0

"Yes! Because I found a new direction for development, and there are people supporting me!" A hint of shyness appeared on Wang Ziyan's face as she said this. 0

"Are you in love?" Song Pearl asked with bright eyes. "It must be someone wealthy, right? But how could someone from our remote mountain village catch your eye?" 0

Wang Ziyan is her good friend, and she felt happy for her having found a good match. 0

"You’re really clever; I hadn’t even told you yet!" Wang Ziyan blushed. "Just make sure you don’t get angry when you meet him later; he’s at home cooking and waiting for you to come back!" 0

"Who is it? Do I know them? Acting all mysterious!" Song Pearl laughed as she playfully pushed Wang Ziyan, temporarily setting aside the gloom in her heart. 0

As they spoke, the two approached a truck. Wang Ziyan opened the door for Song Pearl, and after she got in, he took his seat in the driver's position. 0

"This truck really has character. It's modified, right?" Song Pearl admired the vehicle as she looked it over. 0

"We still have business to attend to, so we got a truck for convenience," Wang Ziyan fastened his seatbelt and started the engine. 0

"Where are we going?" Qing's Resort was still under construction, with a large area fenced off as the vehicle continued along the road. 0

"Along the coast, we've built a new Ecological Aquaculture Park," Wang Ziyan brushed her hair back from her forehead. "The wildlife from the back mountain of Song Family Village has been relocated there." 0

"Why buy along the coast?" 0

"Because we can enclose a section of sea to raise Pearl Fish. Your dad wanted to surprise you when you came back; he was worried that you'd feel overwhelmed if you returned to find yourself with nothing!" 0

"My dad? He established an Ecological Aquaculture Farm along the coast?" 0

"That's right. I'm his specially appointed consultant," Wang Ziyan said with a smile. "You really have an enviable dad, but I'm not envious of you anymore!" 0

As she spoke, her eyes sparkled with laughter as she glanced at Song Pearl. Half a year had passed, yet Song Pearl hadn't changed much; her face remained thin and even somewhat pale. Taking care of patients had left her looking worn out—only someone like Song Pearl could manage that. 0

"I don't have anything worth envying! I'm not as good-looking as you, not as tall, my social skills can't compare... there are too many ways I'm lacking... I remember the road to the coast being quite smooth; why is it so bumpy now?" 0

Song Pearl frowned as she looked out the window. The light was fading, and the road wasn't very smooth; the occasional jolts made her feel nauseous, prompting her to roll down the window. 0

Her gaze inadvertently fell on a car behind them, causing her heart to sink. 0

"But you're luckier than I am! You have a great dad, married a good man, and have a close friend who understands you. Plus, you've survived so many near disasters..." 0

Wang Ziyan was so engrossed in her driving that she didn't notice Song Pearl's discomfort. 0

"Ziyan, can you drive faster? My stomach hurts," Song Pearl said. 0

"Okay." Wang Ziyan pressed the accelerator harder, causing the car to jolt even more. Song Pearl leaned against the window for fresh air and shouted, "Slow down, maybe just a bit slower!" 0

As the speed increased, a car followed them at a steady pace from behind, making it impossible to see the driver's face. 0

"Ziyan, there's a car behind us following us. I wonder who it is?" Song Pearl asked. 0

Wang Ziyan glanced in the rearview mirror and casually replied, "It's not following us; you're overthinking it!" Just as she finished speaking, the car behind suddenly accelerated and crashed into them. 0

Another collision! When Song Pearl thought this, she felt a sharp pain in her head and lost consciousness. Therefore, she was unaware that the car behind had not hit them but had sped past instead. She also did not see Wang Ziyan's cold smirk at the corner of her mouth. 0

Wang Ziyan slammed the steering wheel as the truck crashed into the roadside guardrail and tilted to one side. Soon after, it flipped onto its wheels. She moved her limbs to confirm there was no pain, then threw a metal piece out of the window, shattering the glass. After glancing at the unconscious Song Pearl, she quickly tried to open the car door to escape but found herself stuck in her seat. (To be continued...) 0
