Because of a house, my two sons have turned against each other, and my younger son has even asked me to cut off contact. This family is truly falling apart. 0

However, I am grateful that I still have my elder son, and I can only hope to make it up to him, A Qiang, at some point in the future. 0

A few days later, my wife and I moved into our new home. Although it was just a small guest room, I felt content. The days that followed were plain but harmonious. Yet, as time passed, I gradually sensed something was off. My daughter-in-law, Wang Li, began to wear a perpetual scowl and treated us with disdain. 0

Wang Li expressed her displeasure: "Dad, this house is so small; you should get rid of your useless things. They’re just in the way." Reluctantly, I had to dispose of some of my old belongings. At my age, there are always things you hold onto for sentimental reasons, but when the younger generation voices their opinions, you can only bear the pain of letting go. 0

As for my wife, who loved to tend to her flowers, that too was no longer acceptable. Wang Li remarked, "Mom, this affects the aesthetics and attracts mosquitoes." We had no choice but to accommodate them. 0

On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival, I thought about inviting my younger son over for dinner so we could celebrate together as a family. However, Hou Zuo Qing frowned and said, "Dad, we just want some peace and quiet." He added, "There are too many people; it makes the house a mess and is quite bothersome." 0

Finally, I felt like an outsider in this home. I could only watch my son and daughter-in-law's expressions all day long, and I began to regret giving them the house. 0

One day, the conflict erupted. That day, my old friend Old Zhang came over for a visit, and we were chatting in the living room. 0

When Hou Zuo Qing came home from work and saw Old Zhang, his expression immediately changed. 0

“Dad, can you please ask your questionable friends not to come to our house all the time?” 0

“What do you mean by that, Hou Zuo Qing?” 0

“What do I mean? This is my home, not a teahouse!” 0

Old Zhang's face turned red with embarrassment. “Old Hou, I’ll take my leave then.” 0

After Old Zhang left, I couldn't help but scold, “Hou Zuo Qing, is it appropriate to speak to your elder like that?” 0

“What’s inappropriate about it? I’m just stating the facts!” Hou Zuo Qing pouted. 0

“Don’t forget, I bought this house! Don’t act like a petty person.” 0

“It was your old rundown house that you bought. The property deed for this place is in my name now!” 0

“That’s still my relocation compensation!” 0

“Relocation compensation? Who proves that this was given to you?” I was momentarily at a loss for words. 0

The relocation certificate was in their hands, and I indeed had no evidence. 0

“Dad, it’s not that I don’t want you to live here, but you need to understand, this is my home.” Hou Zuo Qing's tone had turned icy. 0

“This house legally belongs to me.” 0

“If you have an issue with that, go live wherever you want!” 0

“You are simply being ungrateful.” I was furious; I never expected my son, whom I had raised all my life, would turn out to be so ungrateful. 0

“You old fool, if you want a color change, I’ll give you one!” Hou Zuo Qing snapped back. 0

Suddenly, he kicked me down. 0

“Bang!” 0

I hit my head against the wall and started bleeding immediately. 0

“You beast! Are you even human?” My spouse rushed up to confront him. 0

“Old hag, if you cause any more trouble, I’ll deal with you too!” 0

Just like that, we were driven out of our own home by our own son. 0

There was no other choice; I had to move into a relocation house that hadn't met the standards yet, along with my partner. The place was damp and cold, but at least it provided shelter from the wind and rain. And so, we lived there for three years. 0
