If it weren't for Jiang Chen coming here to visit, Lin Yin wouldn't have bothered to come, let alone pay any attention to Liu Heng and Zhang Chong.
"I'm curious, how are you going to let me experience the taste of flying?" Zhang Chong laughed, showing no regard for Lin Yin's warning.
"You'll find out soon enough," Lin Yin replied with a slight smirk before making her move. Before Zhang Chong could react, he felt his body suddenly accelerate, as if he had been launched like a cannonball. However, Zhang Chong was no ordinary person; he quickly gathered his wits and thought of a countermeasure. Thrown unexpectedly by a powerful force, he managed to grab onto a beam at the top of the venue, narrowly escaping disaster.
Yet, hanging onto the beam like that was quite undignified. The suave image he had just projected while leaping across rooftops was instantly shattered.
The new disciples watching this scene were left dumbfounded.
"Senior Brother Zhang Chong, could this be the flying technique of our Feitian Sect?" a thirteen-year-old boy asked in surprise. Senior Brother Zhang Chong had jumped to the beam without any external assistance, which was far more difficult than his previous display.
Hearing this, Zhang Chong's face flushed with embarrassment. Although the boy spoke sincerely, Zhang Chong felt mocked. He glanced down and saw that Lin Yin, the instigator of this whole situation, was already at the door.
"Don't go!" Zhang Chong shouted.
But Lin Yin paid him no mind.
"Liu Heng, don’t let your classmate get away!" Zhang Chong yelled at Liu Heng while maneuvering along the beam towards the wall before using his wall-crawling technique to descend.
"What just happened with Senior Brother Zhang Chong? Did anyone see it?"
"I was practicing and didn’t notice. Senior Brother Zhang Chong must have been demonstrating our flying technique! That jump was incredible."
"I think I saw it too; Senior Brother Zhang Chong was thrown onto the roof by someone."
"Huh???"
"Don't say such things! Who would dare throw Senior Brother Zhang Chong onto the roof?"
"It was that beautiful big sister who was standing next to him just now."
"Is that true? They must have been just playing around."
The group of new disciples whispered among themselves.
At that moment, Zhang Chong felt utterly embarrassed. He hurried over to Liu Heng and noticed that Liu Heng hadn’t stopped Lin Yin. His gaze turned sharp as a knife.
"Did you not hear what I said? Why didn’t you stop her?" Zhang Chong questioned in a low voice.
"I—I can’t take her on," Liu Heng replied, lowering his head and trembling. He had just witnessed how easily Lin Yin had tossed Zhang Chong high into the air; it was simply unbelievable.
He didn’t want to end up like Zhang Chong and dared not confront Lin Yin.
"You’re really useless! Do you know where she lives? Take me to find her," Zhang Chong said angrily.
“Brother Zhang, I think we should just forget it. I never expected her to be so powerful, her strength is terrifying,” Liu Heng stammered.
“What? You think I’m not her match?” Zhang Chong scoffed.
Liu Heng forced a smile, the implication was clear—didn’t he realize he was no match for her?
“Don’t worry, I’ll go tell Cheng Shixiong right away. He’s a master of the inner sect; with him around, what waves can a woman possibly stir up?” Zhang Chong huffed.
“But I don’t even know where she lives,” Liu Heng replied helplessly.
“Don’t know? Can’t you find out? She’s your classmate, not mine. Is she here just to toy with us? Do you think our Feitian Sect is a place where she can come and go as she pleases?” Zhang Chong’s tone was icy, his anger palpable.
“What’s going on?” Suddenly, a cold and arrogant voice interrupted.
“It’s Cheng Shixiong!” Upon hearing this, Zhang Chong’s face lit up with joy as he quickly turned to greet him warmly.
Outer sect disciples had no choice but to show utmost respect in front of inner sect disciples. This particular Cheng Shixiong was known for his efficiency, which is why the sect leader had assigned him to manage the daily affairs of the Martial Arts Hall.
Liu Heng felt even more cautious in front of this inner sect Cheng Shixiong. The man was known for his cold demeanor and rarely smiled; he had a fierce temper that Liu Heng found intimidating.
Zhang Chong certainly wouldn’t admit to being bested by a girl. He hesitated before concocting a lie, but Cheng Shixiong wasn’t easily fooled. The moment Cheng Shixiong’s gaze darkened, Zhang Chong knew he had to tell the truth.
“Are you saying you’re not lying? A woman managed to throw you onto the roof beam while you weren’t paying attention?” Cheng Shixiong frowned, skepticism evident in his eyes.
“Cheng Shixiong, how could I dare lie in front of you? Besides, Liu Heng saw it too, right, Liu Heng?” Zhang Chong turned to Liu Heng.
Liu Heng nodded vigorously.
“If that’s true, then this woman is indeed formidable. By the way, what’s her background? Does she have a master?” Cheng Shixiong asked, now showing some interest.
“Liu Heng, you explain,” Zhang Chong urged.
Nervous and stammering, Liu Heng recounted Lin Yin’s background.
“What? Lin Yin? And her master is a young man? Wait, what’s that young man’s name?” Cheng Shixiong exclaimed in shock.
“I don’t know his name; all I know is that Lin Yin mentioned she doesn’t even regard our Feitian Sect highly,” Liu Heng said fearfully.
“Of course! It must be him,” Cheng Shixiong's expression changed dramatically as fear washed over him.
“Cheng Shixiong, who are they really?” Both Zhang Chong and Liu Heng were bewildered by Cheng Shixiong's reaction as if he had seen a ghost.
“If I’m not mistaken, Miss Lin’s master is Mr. Jiang,” Cheng Shixiong said gravely.
"What?" Zhang Chong shouted, collapsing onto the ground.
Although he was merely an outer disciple of the Feitian Sect and had never heard of Lin Yin, the name of Mr. Jiang was known far and wide. Mr. Jiang was a figure akin to a deity, and the realization that he had somehow provoked such a person left Zhang Chong pale and nearly terrified to the point of wetting himself.
Liu Heng stared in shock. Who was Mr. Jiang? How could he not know? Even if Mr. Jiang had a significant reputation, there was no need for Zhang Chong to be this afraid, was there?
