"Where is Master? He said he would come," Lin Yin thought anxiously as the graduation ceremony began and it was almost her turn to speak. Jiang Chen still hadn't arrived, and this made her quite nervous.
"Next, please welcome Lin Yin from Class 4 of the School of Management to deliver a speech as the representative of the graduates." Hearing the host's call, Lin Yin stood up reluctantly and walked to the stage.
"Lin Yin, your speech." A female classmate beside her reminded her when she saw Lin Yin toss the speech onto her chair.
"I don’t need it," Lin Yin replied. The speech had been written by a teacher from the college, but someone like her, who was rebellious, would never follow the rules.
On stage, Lin Yin stood in front of the podium, her gaze fixed on the entrance of the auditorium. After waiting for a few seconds in the quiet atmosphere, time seemed to pass slowly.
"Lin, please begin your speech," the host gently reminded when he noticed Lin Yin was silent.
Only then did Lin Yin retract her gaze. She thought to herself that Master might have already arrived but simply didn’t want to appear in such a setting. I might as well start my speech. With that thought, she felt much more at ease.
Lin Yin's mind raced as she understood what the school leaders wanted from her speech. The martial arts craze had swept across the nation; even an eighty-year-old man would want to practice martial arts, let alone young people. A prestigious institution like Jinling University was not immune to this trend; many students had become obsessed with martial arts. The allure of martial arts was far greater than any game could offer. If this continued, with everyone practicing martial arts, who would be left to build a new era?
However, how could the school leaders know about such matters?
Lin Yin adjusted her thoughts and slowly began to speak. Her voice was melodious, enhanced by her spiritual energy, resonating in people's ears like silver bells, compelling them to sit up straight and listen attentively.
As they listened to Lin Yin's speech, the expressions on the faces of the school leaders turned peculiar. This girl wasn’t following the script at all! They had prepared a speech for her, yet she chose not to use it.
Lin Yin primarily discussed the recent martial arts craze and shared memories of campus life. However, she did not dwell on her own experiences because she felt little nostalgia for campus life. Pretending to be reluctant to leave was simply too sentimental; her classmates were not interested in such trivialities. They were far more interested in martial arts.
When it came to discussing martial arts, Lin Yin spoke eloquently. Her sharp and unique insights prompted nods of agreement from the school leaders below.
The martial arts craze had become unstoppable; however, since it was a trend, it would eventually fade away. While everyone practicing martial arts was not inherently bad, it did not guarantee survival. The most important thing for humans living in this world was survival itself. Many people were infatuated with martial arts now, but once the trend subsided and natural selection took its course, most would return to normal lives. Martial arts might become their hobby but not their main pursuit.
This was a process that any new phenomenon would undergo; over time, anything novel would become commonplace.
The emergence of Hidden Sect brought about this martial arts craze, which would completely dissipate in a few years. By then, people would regard martial arts as something entirely normal.
Once the Mountain and Sea Secret Realm Gate opened, humanity would once again enter a frenzy for cultivation. Years later, when that wave receded, Earth would find itself in a state where both cultivation and technology developed together—a situation mirrored on many planets across the universe.
After Lin Yin finished speaking, there was a brief silence before thunderous applause erupted.
As the graduation ceremony concluded, Lin Yin walked out of the auditorium with several female classmates.
"Lin Yin, what you said just now really resonated with me. Although everyone is obsessed with martial arts now and wants to achieve something in it, survival of the fittest applies to everything—even martial arts. I initially wanted to practice martial arts too but then realized I’m weak and lazy and can’t stand being patient; I’m just not cut out for it," one classmate said.
"Exactly! The admissions criteria for Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy are so strict—it's like finding a needle in a haystack! Plus, they don’t accept older candidates; at our age, we’re already considered old by their standards," another classmate chimed in.
The girls chattered among themselves, reflecting some people's current views on the martial arts craze. While everyone admired martial arts, most had enough self-awareness to recognize their own limitations and understand the situation.
The martial arts craze would eventually pass; while martial arts would still exist, they wouldn’t be fundamental to human existence.
"Classmate Lin Yin, your speech just now was truly excellent. I share your views completely; you spoke my mind," a tall boy in a graduation gown said as he hurried over to Lin Yin, a bright smile lighting up his face.
"Oh, then you should have spoken on stage earlier," Lin Yin replied nonchalantly.
The tall boy was Liu Heng, one of Lin Yin's fervent admirers.
"While my thoughts are similar to yours, I wouldn't express them as well in public. By the way, Lin Yin, if you're free tonight, let me treat you to dinner," Liu Heng invited.
"I don't have time," Lin Yin rejected him without hesitation.
"Lin Yin, having a meal with me won't cost you anything. Are you afraid of me? Besides, I have some good news to share with you," Liu Heng persisted, leaving Lin Yin curious.
Lin Yin, being naturally inquisitive, perked up at his words. "What good news?" she asked.
"You agree to have dinner with me, and I'll tell you. It's definitely good news for you," Liu Heng said seriously.
"If you're not going to say it, then forget it. Let's go," Lin Yin said to her female classmates nearby before striding away.
"Wait, Lin Yin! It's about the Feitian Sect!" Liu Heng quickly called out as he saw her leaving.
"What does the Feitian Sect have to do with me?" Lin Yin frowned, feeling uninterested.
"Of course it matters! It matters a lot! You all probably don't know that I've officially joined the Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy. I'm quite familiar with people there now. Lin Yin, as long as I recommend you, with your strength, you can definitely join the Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy. This is absolutely good news for you!" Liu Heng said earnestly, his expression somewhat proud.
"You're really a disciple of the Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy?"
"I heard that the Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy is very strict about accepting disciples, especially for those over eighteen. The acceptance rate is pitifully low—about one in a hundred thousand."
Lin Yin wasn't surprised, but her female classmates nearby looked shocked and gazed at Liu Heng with admiration.
Liu Heng felt secretly pleased; this was the effect he wanted. However, Lin Yin seemed unfazed.
"Lin Yin, as long as I help recommend you, you can join the Feitian Sect Martial Arts Academy. This is a great opportunity for you! Only by joining such a major sect can one truly engage with martial arts. Our previous skills are simply insignificant," Liu Heng emphasized again, thinking that Lin Yin hadn't heard him clearly.
