"Master Shangguan, please remain calm. If so many bombs explode, it could cause the entire valley to collapse, and everyone will be in danger," the crowd shouted in unison.
Chen Jihau, Cheng Xiang, and others had already turned pale. They were just ordinary people who came to watch the excitement and did not want to be caught up in the martial disputes.
"Cheng Xiang, why don't you persuade Mr. Jiang to apologize to that person first? We need to stabilize him; otherwise, he might really detonate the bombs. I don't want to die here," Chen Jihau said to Cheng Xiang.
Hu Li, Jiang Jinsong, and others also urged anxiously.
"What good does it do for you to tell me this? I can't persuade him," Cheng Xiang replied helplessly.
"Sister Liang, you should go talk to Mr. Jiang. He can't drag us down with him," Chen Jihau shifted his focus to Liang Shanshan.
Liang Shanshan's expression was not much better, but she knew that her low status meant she had no authority to persuade Jiang Chen.
In this critical moment, the crowd fell into extreme panic, and some had even begun to prepare to confront Jiang Chen. Facing him was certainly better than being blown up by the bombs.
"Mr. Jiang, think of something quickly! If you disregard our lives, we will have no choice but to fight back against you," one of the Hidden Sect leaders said solemnly.
"With your strength, do you think you can threaten my master?" Lin Yin stepped forward, scanning the surroundings. Her handsome face showed no sign of fear, only a chilling coldness.
"Little girl, we are not threatening Mr. Jiang; it's just that the situation is urgent. Shangguan Yao is someone who can act on his words. Once he loses patience and detonates the bombs, we will all be blown to pieces. You’re still young; surely you don’t want to die in an explosion?" Someone spoke in a gentle tone upon seeing Lin Yin's icy demeanor.
"Heh, as long as my master is here, I won't be blown up. It's you all who should not be unappreciative," Lin Yin sneered.
"Everyone, my Young Master has his own plans; you need not worry. The bombs cannot harm us. Don't fall into Shangguan Yao's trap," Qin Xiaoya stepped forward and said.
Although Qin Xiaoya spoke with her usual aloofness, her words were more reassuring than Lin Yin's. As a chairperson, she understood the importance of balancing tension and calmness.
Indeed, upon hearing Qin Xiaoya's words, the expressions of those from the Hidden Sect softened. All they wanted was a word that could ease their minds.
"Does Mr. Jiang really have a way to ensure that these bombs won't harm these young people?" one of the Hidden Sect leaders asked. He wouldn't admit he was afraid of the bombs; instead, he brought up the younger ones.
"There will definitely be some harm, but nothing serious—just a slight cold for those with weak constitutions," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
"A cold?" The crowd exchanged puzzled glances, unsure of how that related to an explosion. However, seeing Mr. Jiang's confident demeanor made them momentarily forget their tension and fear.
Shangguan Yao's face turned ashen; he was furious at Jiang Chen's playful remarks. He had already revealed his trump card, yet Jiang Chen remained unfazed.
Did he really think I wouldn't dare act? The more Shangguan Yao thought about it, the angrier he became until murderous intent flashed across his face.
"Fine! I want to see if these bombs truly are as harmless as you claim," Shangguan Yao sneered and no longer hesitated; he gave the order directly.
"Kill them."
The person hiding in the shadows of Tianlang Palace heard the command and immediately pressed the button to detonate the bombs. Originally, these explosives were controlled in batches, making it impossible to set them all off at once. However, at that moment, as one bomb exploded, the others, gathered together, followed suit.
Shangguan Yao's eyes turned crimson, and he even smiled as he covered his ears. He believed that Jiang Chen's side would be blown to smithereens, a sight too horrific to behold. He felt safe on the surface of the lake, only experiencing some vibrations.
The members of the Hidden Sect by the lakeside felt their hearts leap into their throats. Some were so frightened that they collapsed to the ground, while many others hurriedly sought refuge. The land was clearly unsafe, so they rushed toward the lake, thinking Shangguan Yao wouldn't possibly detonate bombs in the water and harm himself.
However, just as they reached the edge of the lake, a tremendous explosion echoed through the air. A massive column of water shot up from the center of the lake, and a powerful shockwave sent waves crashing toward the shore.
Everyone was stunned, momentarily forgetting to flee.
"Run!"
Someone finally reacted and shouted loudly. Only then did the crowd snap back to reality and start running away. But the towering wave, over ten meters high like a tsunami, threatened to claim half their lives if it struck.
Some people stood frozen in place; with the wave approaching rapidly and all exits blocked, escape seemed impossible. Of course, those skilled in Divine Realm could move swiftly, but they wouldn’t abandon their junior disciples.
Cheng Xiang and his companions were also terrified, their legs trembling. Yet they had the sense to stand behind Jiang Chen, clinging to each other in fear and crying out for help.
At that moment, all Cheng Xiang and his friends could feel was regret—curiosity had led them into this perilous situation. If only they hadn’t come to watch the spectacle; dying here felt utterly frustrating.
The colossal wave rolled in like a giant wheel, and before its might, humans were as helpless as grasshoppers against a steamroller.
As the wave drew closer to the lakeshore, many closed their eyes in resignation. Even warriors felt powerless against nature's fury.
"To die like this is truly unacceptable," lamented several young members of the Hidden Sect. They wished for some semblance of dignity before their end.
Yet after waiting for what felt like an eternity for death to arrive, they instead felt raindrops falling on them.
"Huh? What’s happening?" They opened their eyes to find that the towering wave had vanished, leaving them drenched from splashes of water.
"It’s alright! Mr. Jiang intervened and shattered the wave," said some elders and leaders of their sects who had kept their eyes open and witnessed the spectacular scene.
"Now you understand what Mr. Jiang meant earlier? Those who get wet can indeed catch a cold if they're not healthy. It seems Mr. Jiang had everything under control from the start," someone remarked in awe, completely shaken by Mr. Jiang's extraordinary abilities.
