"What? Shangguan Yao, you are truly insane!" someone exclaimed. Although everyone knew that Shangguan Yao was ruthless and cunning, they never expected him to stoop so low. As a Martial Artist, using such despicable means was utterly infuriating.
"What should we do now?"
Despite their anger, the crowd felt powerless and ultimately turned their gaze towards Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen's expression shifted slightly, but it wasn't one of worry; rather, it was one of amusement. "Palace Master Shangguan, you think some bombs can deal with me? How about this: your target is me, so I’ll stay behind while the others leave," Jiang Chen said with a faint smile.
"Kneel first, and then we can discuss terms," Shangguan Yao said, his eyes bloodshot with rage. He was confident that he had the upper hand and felt entitled to disregard Jiang Chen.
"Do you really think that this will make me hesitate to act?" Jiang Chen frowned slightly. This Shangguan Yao was truly reckless.
"Ha ha, Mr. Jiang, I know you possess great power, but these bombs won't listen to you. If you dare to move even a little, I guarantee that I will turn the entire Mingjing Valley into ruins," Shangguan Yao declared triumphantly.
Jiang Chen's expression darkened further.
"Mr. Jiang, let’s talk this over calmly. Please don’t act impulsively. Palace Master Shangguan, you shouldn’t be rash either. Let’s sit down and discuss this slowly," urged a timid leader from the Hidden Sect, fearing that Jiang Chen might provoke Shangguan Yao further.
The atmosphere grew tense, heavy with an oppressive feeling that made it hard to breathe. No one dared to make a move; even Wu Taitian felt a weight on his heart. The bombs were merciless and might not harm Mr. Jiang, but they could definitely hurt them. Wu Taitian himself might not mind dying, but if the outstanding young talents of Shen Xue Men gathered here were killed in an explosion, it would leave their generation without successors.
Lu Lengxue and the others claimed not to be afraid, but it was a lie; who could remain calm when standing on landmines? Only Qin Xiaoya, Lin Yin, and Ye Ling showed no fear on their faces—only anger. They had unwavering trust in Jiang Chen.
"Master, this person is too shameless; I really want to kill him," Lin Yin said angrily.
"You haven’t killed anyone yet. Since someone is seeking death today, I’ll let you have a try later," Jiang Chen replied with a calm smile.
He hadn’t intended to use his great powers, but it seemed that he had no choice now.
Standing still, Jiang Chen suddenly focused his gaze. His eyes sparkled like stars as they became tranquil and serene. In that moment, he entered a state of self-forgetfulness, merging with his surroundings. Invisible waves emanated from his feet like ripples spreading through the ground.
Jiang Chen’s consciousness sensed every inch of land in Mingjing Valley—every stone, every tree, even every drop of water in the lakes. The attributes of the Great Dao he had mastered encompassed nearly everything visible in nature. As he activated the Heavenly Transformation Great Dao Technique, his consciousness connected with all things around him; Mingjing Valley seemed to become part of his very being.
He could sense even the tiny worms crawling in the soil—not to mention the remote-controlled bombs buried beneath it.
Of course, Jiang Chen wouldn’t dismantle the bombs; instead, he had a better way to deal with them.
With his right hand forming a seal, he directed it towards the ground. The buried bombs stirred restlessly while his left hand quietly formed another seal. A wave surged upwards into the sky as the weather shifted according to Jiang Chen’s thoughts; dark clouds gathered above with thunder rumbling ominously. The oppressive atmosphere grew even heavier.
"Palace Master Shangguan, it's going to rain soon; we should go back and sit down for a proper discussion," someone suggested.
Shangguan Yao looked up at the sky, his brows furrowed. He initially thought the change in weather was caused by Jiang Chen, but then realized that Jiang Chen likely didn't possess such power, especially since he hadn't made any moves.
"When will you kneel and bow your head to me, Mr. Jiang? Only then can we go back," Shangguan Yao sneered, feeling no anxiety. The rain wouldn't affect the bombs.
He felt confident of victory, even prepared for a mutually destructive outcome. With a mindset that embraced death, many things became trivial. However, torturing his opponent before killing him was a delightful prospect.
As the dark clouds gathered in the sky, the once-bright valley grew dim. While it wasn't pitch black, visibility was limited to about ten meters.
"Crack!"
A bolt of lightning struck down like a dagger slicing through a black cloth, hitting Mountain Peak directly. The people in the valley were startled; the might of nature was unfathomable. In the face of thunder, humanity seemed insignificant. Even Shangguan Yao felt a chill run down his spine, fearing that the lightning might strike him next.
Distracted by the lightning, no one noticed that the bombs buried underground had already broken through the surface and were now skimming along the ground toward the lakeside. Hundreds of bombs quietly slipped into the water without anyone being aware.
Having completed this task, Jiang Chen finally relaxed his tense mind. Controlling both the earth and weather while moving the bombs into the water had indeed been mentally exhausting.
As he withdrew his control over the weather, the dark clouds quickly dissipated, revealing a clear blue sky once more.
"Haha, it seems even heaven is helping me out! Mr. Jiang, my patience is limited. I'll give you three more minutes to consider. If you still refuse to kneel and admit your mistakes, don’t blame me for being rude. I know these bombs might not harm you, but your friends and disciples certainly lack the ability to withstand their power. Of course, if you don’t care about their lives, then forget I said anything," Shangguan Yao laughed, feeling uplifted as the clouds cleared and his own gloom lifted.
"Shangguan Yao, I have only one thing to say to you: playing with fire will lead to self-immolation. If those bombs explode, you’ll be the one who suffers most," Jiang Chen replied calmly.
"It seems there’s nothing left to discuss between us. Let’s see how you fare against these bombs," Shangguan Yao sneered. He knew Jiang Chen wouldn’t bow down; regardless of whether he did or not, Shangguan Yao wanted him dead. As for the other Hidden Sect members, he didn’t care about them at all; they enjoyed watching chaos unfold and would get their chance to see it firsthand on their way to the underworld.
The fuse was already lit and ready to ignite. While Jiang Chen remained calm and composed, everyone else could not maintain their composure.
Once the bombs detonated, it would be too late for regrets; no one wanted to risk their life just to experience the power of explosives firsthand.
