"Mr. Jiang, I admit defeat. Let me out," came the pleading voice of Shangguan Yao from within the stone.
Jiang Chen smiled faintly, pointing his finger at the air. A wave of energy shot out like a ray, dissipating the spiritual power surrounding the stone. Without that power, the stone reverted to its ordinary state and plummeted into the lake, splashing water everywhere.
The onlookers were left speechless. Mr. Jiang was truly formidable; with such casual ease, he had defeated Shangguan Yao from hundreds of meters away. It was astonishing and hard to believe.
At that moment, Shangguan Yao felt a lingering fear. He realized he had severely underestimated Jiang Chen's strength. However, the hatred for his son's death was something he could not let go of easily; he would not simply back down.
"As you wish, we have fought, and you have admitted defeat. Let today’s matter end here," Jiang Chen said calmly.
Shangguan Yao remained silent, his expression complex as he pondered his thoughts.
Meanwhile, the crowd erupted in excitement, having witnessed Mr. Jiang's power once more. They were completely captivated by him. Their attitudes shifted faster than flipping a page; just moments ago, they had been uttering harsh words, urging Jiang Chen and Shangguan Yao to clash, and now they were showering Jiang Chen with compliments.
"Mr. Jiang is truly extraordinary; it’s astonishing!"
"Shangguan Yao is so ungrateful! I knew all along he was no match for Mr. Jiang; how could he even think of challenging him? It’s sheer arrogance."
"Exactly! It’s a pity Mr. Jiang didn’t finish off that scoundrel Shangguan Yao."
Jiang Chen paid no mind to them. He hadn’t come to the Martial Arts Conference to kill; as the master of Tianlang Palace, he merely sought to challenge himself—Shangguan Yao's life was not forfeit.
Everyone assumed this sparring session had concluded and began to turn away, preparing to leave the valley.
But just a few steps out, they suddenly heard Shangguan Yao speak again.
This time his tone was manic and eerie, laced with a sense of desperation.
"Mr. Jiang, although I admit defeat, our matters are far from over. Since you have come here, you shall not leave easily. People of Tianlang Palace, seal off the valley exit!"
Despite the oddity in Shangguan Yao's tone, most found it amusing.
"You’ve lost yet still dare to act tough? Shangguan Yao, do you really think your people from Tianlang Palace can block our way?"
"Haha, that’s hilarious! No need for Mr. Jiang to lift a finger; if anyone from Tianlang Palace dares to obstruct us, I’ll take them down one by one."
Many from Hidden Sect chimed in; the situation was clear—Tianlang Palace was no match for Mr. Jiang. They had no qualms about striking at Tianlang Palace to leave a good impression on Mr. Jiang.
"Heh." Shangguan Yao showed no anger; instead, his face bore a chilling smile that sent shivers down spines.
"Forget about Tianlang Palace; let’s leave the valley," someone shouted. With so many people present, there was no need to concern themselves with Tianlang Palace at all.
Just as they were about to set off, a tremendous explosion suddenly erupted, shaking the ground beneath them. They watched in shock as the mountains on either side of the valley entrance cracked open and collapsed, burying the exit in a torrent of earth and stone.
Of course, despite the treacherous nature of the valley, even if the entrance was blocked, it wouldn't trap them for long; they would simply need to take a bit more time to cross it.
“Shangguan Yao, have you lost your mind? Using explosives to blow up the mountain? This is the sacred ground of Mingjing Valley!”
“You think blowing up the exit will keep us from leaving? You’re too naive. Even Mount Everest can be crossed; let alone this mere valley,” he retorted.
Unfazed by their furious shouts, Shangguan Yao replied lightly, “You’re the ones being naive. This is just an appetizer. Do you know that beneath your feet are countless bombs? With just a word from me, they will all detonate. At that point, no matter how powerful you are, you’ll be reduced to fragments. So it’s best if you don’t move.”
The faces of everyone present turned pale with shock. Although they were all members of the Hidden Sect and possessed formidable strength, even those at the Divine Realm level could not withstand such a barrage of explosives.
Many were already sweating profusely, a strong sense of crisis weighing heavily on their hearts and making their faces even paler.
“Palace Master Shangguan, are you joking?” one of the Hidden Sect leaders managed to ask with difficulty.
“If any of you don’t believe me, feel free to test it,” Shangguan Yao sneered.
“Uh, there’s no need for testing. Palace Master Shangguan, we martial artists solve problems according to the rules of martial arts. Using bombs is simply unacceptable. Besides, we have no grievances with you; why go to such lengths?” The members of the Hidden Sect were trembling with fear, trying to reason with him, wary of provoking his wrath.
“You may have no grievances with me, but some do have an irreconcilable feud with me. Now you have two choices: help me kill that Jiang fellow, and I’ll let you go; otherwise, you’ll die alongside him,” Shangguan Yao said, his demeanor becoming increasingly unhinged. All his hatred and fury erupted at that moment; his adrenaline surged as he became fearless.
